    Notes:

    Mary Phipps Moody, age 92, of Johnson City, passed away at her residence following a brief illness on Saturday, December 20, 2008.

    A lifelong resident of Johnson City, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Mamie Williams Phipps. Mrs. Moody was a lifelong member of Keystone Presbyterian Church, were she taught Sunday school and was a Youth Fellowship Director. She was also the church treasurer for many years. Mrs. Moody was employed as a supervisor interviewer for the Tennessee Department of Employment Security and was a member of the I.A.P.E.S. She was also affiliated with the Johnson City Business Women's Club.

    In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest N. Moody in February 1991.

    Survivors include a daughter, Mary Anne Massey, and spouse Keith, Johnson City; two sons, Charles Moody, and spouse Mary, Panama City, FL, Norman Moody, and spouse, Barbara, Johnson City. Eight Grandchildren, twelve Great Grandchildren. Several cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.

    The funeral service for Mrs. Moody will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 23, 2008, in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Gray officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Tuesday in the East Parlor of the funeral home.

    The graveside service and interment will follow the funeral at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Mrs. Moody's grandsons and great grandsons.

    Mary married Ernest Norman Moody about 1937. Ernest (son of John Wade Moody and Cora Anne Potter) was born on 28 Jul 1912 in , Avery County, North Carolina, ; died in Feb 1991 in Washintgon County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Monte Vista Memorial Park, , Washington County, Tennessee.     Notes:

    Norman L. Moody, age 75, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at his residence surrounded by his family.
    A native of Johnson City, he was a son of the late Earnest Norman and Mary Katherine Phipps Moody. He was a member of Keystone Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
    Mr. Moody spent 37 years employed by Woolworth Department Stores traveling to different cities before retiring as General Manager of the Woolworth Department Store in Johnson City.
    Mr. Moody was an avid golfer and loved to listen to gospel music.
    Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Barbara T. Moody, of the home; two daughters, Sandy Barber and husband, Vince, Lexington, KY, Debbie Moody, Nicholasville, KY; one son, Lee Moody, Myrtle Beach, SC; five grandchildren, Norman Lee Moody III, Taylor Moody, Chris Barber, Amanda Van Dyke and Emily Van Dyke; one brother, Charles Moody and wife, Mary, Panama City Beach, FL; one sister, Mary Ann Massey, and husband, Keith, Johnson City. Norman is also survived by his pet dog, Brandy. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
    The funeral service for Mr. Moody will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, October 31, 2014, in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Mr. Gerald Malcolm officiating.
    The family will receive friends Friday from 12:00 until 1:00 PM in the East Parlor of the funeral home.
    The graveside service and interment will follow at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Norman Lee Moody III, Taylor Moody, Chris Barber, Allen Moody, Tim Moody and Todd Moody.
