    Dessiree H. Maupin, 85, formerly of 1110 King Springs Road, Johnson City, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2006, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton.

    Mrs. Maupin was a native of Carter County and had lived most of her life in Johnson City. She was a daughter of the late Harrison and Eliza Holloway Hardin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul H. Maupin, in 1979; three sisters, Verna Hardin, Carsey Hardin and Wanda Lyons; five brothers, Dana, Chocy, Smith, Chester and Warren Hardin; a grandson, Ronnie Lynn Maupin; and one great-grandson.

    Mrs. Maupin was retired from North American Rayon Corporation, Elizabethton, and was a member of the Johnson City Freewill Baptist Church.

    Dessiree married Paul Herman Maupin on 8 Nov 1941 in Washintgon County, , , Tennessee. Paul (son of Willis Allen Maupin and Rebecca Bessie Blevins) was born on 13 Sep 1917 in Washintgon County, , , Tennessee; died in Feb 1979 in Washintgon County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Mountain Home National Cemetery, , Washington County, Tennessee.     Notes:

    Rev. Eddie H. Maupin, age 64, 117 Jim Elliott Rd., Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord Monday, January 12, 2009, from his residence following an extended illness.

    He was a Carter County native and a son of the late Paul and Dissiree Hardin Maupin. Rev. Maupin was a member of the Hill Street Church of God, Greeneville, TN. He was a former minister of Fire on the Rock Church of God, Newport, TN, Watauga Valley Free Will Baptist Church, Johnson City Free Will Baptist Church, Keenburg Free Will Baptist Church and several other churches in North Carolina and Indiana.

    Rev. Maupin served in the Vietnam Conflict with the US Army and received a Purple Heart.

    Survivors include his wife of forty-four years, Janice Stonecipher Maupin, of the home; one daughter: Denise Maupin, one granddaughter: Jordonna Maupin, one grandson: Quinton Alexander, all of Johnson City; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Gary and Ruth Maupin, Johnson City, and Ronnie Maupin, Jonesborough; Several nieces and nephews also survive.

    The Celebration of Life service for Rev. Maupin will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, in the Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Rev. Wayne Depew and Rev. Jeff Spears officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel prior to the service. Friends may also call at the residence at other times.

    The graveside service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 15, in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Everyone is welcome to meet the family at 9:15 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from Rev. Maupin's nephews.

    Eddie married Janice Erlene Stonecipher on 5 Aug 1988 in Bristol, , , Virginia. Janice (daughter of Joseph Calloway Stonecipher and Gladys Davis) was born about 1947 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; died on 24 Aug 2019 in Washintgon County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Happy Valley Memorial Park, , Carter County, Tennessee.
