    Clifford Loyal Peters, 80, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2020 in the Signature Health Care of Elizabethton.

    A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Buster & Maggie Pearl Peters.

    Clifford retired from AFG. He served in the Stoney Creek Fire Department for 40 years. He was the first fire Chief and he was the fire chief for 30 years. Clifford was a Trustee of the Blevins Cemetery. He was a member of the Stoney Creek Baptist Church..

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Jack Peters.

    Survivors include two daughters: Cindy Peters Sturgill and Christy Peters Petit & special son-in-law, Scott. Five Grandchildren. Ethan Sturgill, Adam Chase Sturgill, Matthew Poole, Tristan Petit and Makenzie Petit. One Great granddaughter: December Poole. His sister: Lucy Shankles & husband Kenneth, Norman Peters & wife Joyce and Buford Peters & wife Sherry. A Sister-In-law: Marsha Peters. Several nieces & nephews. His little dog Scarlett.

    The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Stoney Creek Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Stoney Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Cornett officiating. The eulogy will be given by Gale Colbaugh. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2020 in the Blevins Cemetery with the Rev. Roger Haley officiating.

    Music will be provided by Carson Peters, Sherry peters and Debra Woods.

    Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the church and also at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday will be: Mickey Taylor, Mark Sturgill, Lynn Peters, Kirk Shankles, Jamie Peters and Jack Buckles. Honorary Pallbearers will be: his Grandchildren, members of the Stoney Creek Fire Department, Members of the Carter County Rescue Squad, Members of the Elizabethton Electric System and his many friends and neighbors.
