ELIZABETHTON - Virginia “Jean” Crumley McQueen, age 97, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 13, 2021 from the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Virginia was born in Carter County to the late Robert and Ida Campbell Crumley. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 76 years, Ivan Wilson McQueen in 2017; a daughter, Brenda Diane Nave; and her brothers and sisters – she was the last one of the Crumley children.

Virginia was a member of Elizabethton Church of Christ and enjoyed attending the Elizabethton Twin baseball games, gardening and visiting Watauga Lake.

Those left to cherish Virginia’s memory include her son, Glenn “Skip” McQueen of Johnson City; her grandson, Richard Ryan McQueen and wife Helen of Odessa, FL; one great granddaughter, Lilah McQueen; and several nieces, nephews, friends and church family also survive.

A graveside service to honor Virginia’s life will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Eddy Craft and Mr. Todd Houston officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

ELIZABETHTON - Mrs. Frances "Bobbie" Shouse, age 91, 129 Ruby Avenue, Elizabethton, TN passed away Friday, August 25, 2017 in Ivy Hall Nursing Home.

A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Robert T. and Ida Campbell Crumley. Mrs. Shouse was a LPN who worked in a private duty setting at St. Elizabeth Hospital and at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was one of the first nurses to work in the ICU and CCU units at the hospital. Mrs. Shouse began her career in nursing at St. Elizabeth Hospital and ended her time there at Ivy Hall Nursing Home when she passed. She was a member of Elizabethton Church of Christ. Mrs. Shouse enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe B. Shouse; sisters, Dorothy Vance, Mary Collins, Lela Kirk, Edna Fair and Hildred Hodge and brothers, Gilbert Crumley, Paul Crumley, Joe Crumley and George Crumley. Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter, Judy Boone and husband Dean, Elizabethton; sons, David Shouse and wife Linda and Mike Shouse and wife Debbie, all of Elizabethton; grandchildren, Donna Harrell and husband Jim, Gena Byrd and husband Anthony, David Shouse Jr. and wife Stephani and Michael J. Shouse and wife Ashley; great-grandchildren, Devin Byrd, Tiffani Shouse, Dalton Shouse, Danika Byrd and Hadley Shouse; sisters, Virginia "Jean" McQueen and husband Ivan, Elizabethton and Joyce Tiffany, Durham, NC and a sister-in-law, Jackie Crumley. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A service to honor the life of Mrs. Frances "Bobbie" Shouse will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Monday, August 28, 2017 in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Mr. Eddy Craft, minister officiating. Mr. Michael J. Shouse will give the eulogy. Music will be under the direction of Linda Shouse, soloist and Cathy Wilson, pianist. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Monday prior to the service or at the residence of her daughter, Judy Boone, at any time.

Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 29, 2017 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Michael J. Shouse, Jim Harrell, David Shouse Jr., Devin Byrd, Steve Roberts, Glen McQueen, Bobby Bullock and Bob Crumley. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Crumley, Harvey Buck, Chad Salyer, Bob Tiffany, Brian Tiffany, Alex Arlington, Tyler Malone, Ivan McQueen, Dr. Jonathan Bremer, Dr. David Fenner, Willie Holsclaw, Philip Lambert and Dean Boone. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 9:15 A.M. on Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.

Jody Price, 94, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2019, in Tucson, Ariz. She was the youngest child of Joel Carriger Crumley and Mary Ada Larkin Crumley. She was predeceased in 2012 by her husband of 60 years, FBI Special Agent James W. Price.
Jody grew up in Elizabethton and attended ETSU. Upon graduation, she worked for the TVA for five years. In 1951, she married Jim Price whom she'd known for many years. Marrying an FBI agent meant a life of transfers and moves. They first lived in Texas and then Indianapolis, Ind., where their three daughters were born. Then they were transferred to Chicago and finally to El Centro, Calif., a small office out of the San Diego Field Office. Jim retired from the Bureau in 1975.
The family stayed busy traveling throughout California and Baja, Mexico, and taking summer road trips back to Elizabethton. As their girls grew up and moved away, Jody and Jim lived in Yuma, Ariz., and Henderson, Nev., before moving to Tucson in 2007.
Jody was well known as an excellent cook and hostess as well as an accomplished pianist and seamstress. No matter where they lived, Jody made a house a home. She also assisted Jim in building a beach house in Baja which the family enjoyed for many years. She never lost her soft southern accent and was always proud of her East Tennessee heritage.
Jody is survived by her three daughters, Patty Marko and Susan Carr of Santa Fe, N.M., and Terry Burden of Tucson, Ariz. She is also survived by her niece, Nancy Crumley of Elizabethton. She has two grandsons, James and Travis Price.
A small family gathering will be held when she is interred with her husband at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

ELIZABETHTON — Brenda McQueen Nave, age 66, of Elizabethton, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2015, at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital, following a brief illness.

Brenda was a native of Carter County and was the daughter of Ivan W. McQueen and Virginia Crumley McQueen.

Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward "Eddy" Nave; and one sister-in-law, Judy Nave.

Brenda graduated from Elizabethton High School in 1966, where she was a member of the Betsy Band, then went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from ETSU. She retired from Keenburg Elementary School in the year 2000, after 30 years of service as a 2nd grade teacher.

She was a member of Elizabethton Church of Christ.

Those left to cherish her memory, include her mother and father, Ivan and Virginia McQueen, of Elizabethton; one brother, Glenn "Skip" McQueen, of Johnson City; one special nephew, Richard Ryan McQueen and wife Helen, of Odessa, FL; one great great niece, Lilah McQueen, also of Odessa, FL; her mother-in-law, Madge Nave, of Mountain City; and one sister-in-law, Mary Nave, also of Mountain City.

A service to honor the life of Mrs. Brenda McQueen Nave will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 17, 2015, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Mr. Roby Ellis and Mr. Eddy Craft, ministers, officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Thursday.

The graveside service will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain City, Tennessee.
