    Thomas “Tom” Lloyd Johnson, 89, of Lenoir, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, October 2, 2022, at Frye Regional Medical Center.

    Born August 24, 1933, in Mountain City, TN, he was the son of the late Claude and Lillian Price Johnson. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his sisters, Maureen Johnson, Virgie Herman, Bonnie Carroll, Sue Carroll, and Geneva Woodard; his brothers, Paul Johnson and Claude Johnson Jr; his granddaughter, Tonya Johnson; and other family members, Lillian Staley, Johnny Staley, Billy Staley, Tommy Staley, and Mary Staley.

    A faithful member of Narrow Way Baptist Church, Tom loved his church and his family. He retired from Lenoir Mirror and then worked as a security guard with Griffith Security.

    Left to cherish his memory are his children, Tommy Johnson, Debbie Garland (Ronnie), Lloyd “Jay” Johnson, Donna Ruby Miller, Jeffrey Johnson (Lori), and Shannon Stamey (Eric); grandchildren, Robert Dula Jr, Shana Dula, Annabelle Stamey, Matthew Johnson, Derek Sluder, Phyllicia Sluder, Amy Meade, Daniel Johnson, Ashley Miller, Brittany Lewis, Timmy Miller, and Tracy Greer; eighteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary Carroll, Jimmy Johnson, Earl Johnson, Helen Rash, Caroline Rash; other family members, Donna Hicks (Johnny), Terri Perkins (Ronald), Ronnie Staley, and Betty Byrd; and numerous nieces and nephews.

    A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 7, 2022, at Narrow Way Baptist Church, with Pastor Johnny Hicks and Pastor Rick Bowman officiating. Burial will follow at the Johnson Family Cemetery in Mountain City, TN.

    Geneva Faye Johnson Woodard, age 80, of Mountain City, TN passed away on Sunday, October, 17, 2021 at the Watauga Medical Center in Boone, NC. Geneva was born on May 23, 1941 to the late Claude and Lillian Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Gary G. Woodard, Randy Woodard; sisters, Sue Carroll, Bonnie Carroll, Virgie Herman, Maureen Johnson; brothers, Paul Johnson, Claude Johnson Jr. and grandson, Randy Hamm.

    Geneva was an outgoing, loving, and friendly woman who loved writing poems and songs and at one point held a music contract. She summed up her whole life in her last few words, “The main thing in my life is my children, I love my children” and it was so true. She attended Baptist Home Church.

    Those left to cherish her memories include her daughters, Gail Miller, Connie Pendergraft (David); sons, Shane Woodard (Amanda), Ronnie Woodard; daughter-in-law, Lisa Woodard; sisters, Helen Rash, Carolyn Rash, Mary Carroll; brothers, Earl Johnson, Jimmy Dale Johnson, Thomas Johnson; special long-time friend, Bud Osborne; eleven grandchildren; several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

    The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1p.m. with preachers Rick Hurley and Bill Morefield officiating. The burial will take place at the Johnson Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Isiah Ross, Preston Ross, Brad Sutherland, Patrick Sutherland, Gary Woodard, David Pendergraft, Caleb Woodard, and Anthony Hall. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Wolfe and the staff at Watauga Medical Center.

    Gary Gene Woodard II, age 31, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at Watauga Medical Center. Gary was born on September 4, 1991 to the late Gary Woodard and Janice Grindstaff Arnold. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his aunt, Wanda Bowers; uncles, Randy Woodard, Danny Crowe, Lloyd Crowe, and paternal grandmother, Geneva Woodard.

    Gary had a great sense of humor and the biggest heart. He was very generous and loyal and was always a hard worker. He enjoyed sewing and was a talented hairdresser, which he loved while he was able. Gary also dearly loved his dogs, Panda and Chloe.


    Those left to cherish his memory include his fiancé. Lamonte Baskett; step mother, Lisa Woodard; sister, Adrian Hall; brother, Anthony Hall; aunts, Gail Miller, Connie Pendergraft (David), Shirley Morrell; uncles, Shane Woodard (Amanda), Ronnie Woodard, Kenneth Crowe, Rick Grindstaff, Jerry Grindstaff; nephew, Zolin Hall; several cousins and friends.

    The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Mountain City Funeral Home.
