    OBITUARY AND FUNERAL NOTICE: VANA McGUIRE TRIVETT Vana McGuire Trivett, age 101, Dark Ridge Road, Elk Park, NC, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, November 9, 2003 at Appalachian Christian Village following a brief illness. A native of Beech Mountain, NC, she was the daughter of the late George W. McGuire, Jr. and Alice Trivett McGuire. She was of the Baptist faith. She was a homemaker. She taught quilting, sewing, macrame and cake decorating classes at Mayland Community College. Mrs. Trivett enjoyed music such as folk ballads and hymns. Some of her recordings are on file at Duke University. She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Trivett, two sons, Clarence Trivett, Perry Allen Trivett, a daughter, Wilma T. Walsh, a grandson, Gary Triplett, several brothers and sisters. Survivors include four daughters, Lenos Trivett, Johnson City, TN, Georgia E. Marston, Peoria, IL, Jewel T. Nunley, Elizabethton, TN, Judy T. Lynn, Newton, NC, two sons, Vernon Trivett, Pensacola, FL, Clark Trivett, Seven Lakes, NC, 26 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, three sisters, Fern Buchanan, Erwin, TN, Erleen Church, Beech Mountain, NC, Blanche Harmon, Valdese, NC, several nieces and nephews also survive. A celebration of Life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2003 at Beech Mountain Baptist Church, Beech Mountain, NC, with Rev. James Hagaman, Rev. Richard Jones, and Rev. Dennis Church officiating. Music will be under the direction of Beech Mountain Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Beech Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be grandsons. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 11, at Tetrick Funeral Home or friends may call at the residence of a daughter, Lenos Trivett, 214 Brown Ave., Johnson City, TN, anytime. Those who prefer in lieu of flowers may make donations to Beech Mountain Baptist Church.

    Mary Lenos Trivett, 78, Brown Avenue, Johnson City, died Saturday, February
    19, 2005, at Johnson City Medical Center.

    Mrs. Trivett was a native of Avery County, N.C., and a daughter of the late
    John Bunyan Trivett Sr. and Vana McGuire Trivett. She was also preceded in
    death by her husband, Ulysses G. Trivett Sr., and by two brothers, a sister
    and a stepson.

    Mrs. Trivett graduated from Cranberry High School in North Carolina and moved
    to Johnson City to work and live. After a short time at American Optical
    Company, she worked for the Kingsport Press. During this time she married
    Ulysses G. Trivett Sr.

    Mrs. Trivett attended business college in Johnson City and earned a
    certificate in stenography. She attended night classes at East Tennessee State
    University, studying real estate, and then helped her husband incorporate
    Trivett's Inc., and they along with U.G. Trivett Jr., built apartments
    throughout the southeast. By this time she and her husband had other real
    estate holdings, which she helped manage. Mrs. Trivett attended management
    seminars at Appalachian State University and Georgia State University. She
    earned her registered apartments manager certification and continued to manage
    until the mid 1980s.

    Mrs. Trivett was listed in Personalities of the South in the '70s on two
    different occasions. She was past president of the Altrusa International of
    Johnson City, the American Legion Auxiliary, National Conference of Women in
    Chambers of Commerce, a member of the American Business Women's Association,
    past officer in the Washington County Republican Women and the Tri-Cities
    Apartment Association. She was a member of Central Baptist Church.

    Survivors include a son, Melvin Trivett, Nashville; a daughter, Sherri Trivett
    Kay, Johnson City; two brothers, Vernon Trivett, Pensacola, Fla., and Clark
    Trivett, West End, N.C.; and three sisters, Georgia Marston, Peoria, Ill.,
    Jewel Nunley, Elizabethton, and Judy Lynn, Newton, N.C.; and a grandson,
    Michael Blake Trivett, Johnson City. A step-granddaughter, a step-grandson and
    several nieces and nephews also survive.

    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 22, from the East
    Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Hensley, Rev. Willard
    Warfield and Rev. James Dampier officiating. Graveside services will follow at
    Monte Vista Burial Park.

    Mary married Ulysses Grant Trivette about 1946. Ulysses (son of William Erastus Trivette and Ida Naomi York) was born on 7 Jan 1896 in , Watauga County, North Carolina, North Carolina; died on 13 May 1979 in Washintgon County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Monte Vista Memorial Park, , Washington County, Tennessee.     Jewel Trivett Nunley was called to heaven May 7, 2022. Jewel was born to Vana McGuire Trivett and John Trivett in Beech Mountain, North Carolina.
    She married her school sweetheart, William R. Nunley (Bill) in 1955. She began her career while raising her family by selling encyclopedias and taking interior design courses. Her interest in interior design sparked her entrepreneurial spirit and she, along with her husband Bill, parlayed their combined talents into a successful furniture and appliance business that served the community for many years.
    Jewel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bill, and son, Anthony (Tony). She was also predeceased by her brothers Pat, Clarence and Vernon and sisters, Wilma, Lenos and Georgia.
    Those left to cherish her memory and light of her immense love include three daughters, Diana, Delilah and Deborah and sons-in-law Wayne Bartley and Ed Gorman; four grandchildren, Brooks, Stuart and wife Emily, Nicholas and Myranda. Beloved siblings Judy Lynn (Johnny) and Clark Trivett (Judy), sisters-in-law Mary Jane Hart, Nola Gay Trivett, and Elizabeth Nunley and brother-in-law Jerry Baird survive. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
    Special thanks to Dr. Robert Walter and Dr. Ryan Hackett for their kindness, care and support through the years.

    JOHNSON CITY - Melvin Blake Trivett, 65, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at Johnson City Medical Center.

    Mr. Trivett was born on September 17, 1952, to the late Ulysses G. and Mary Lenos Trivett in Johnson City, TN, where he lived all his life. Mr. Trivett was a 1971 graduate of Science Hill High School. Some people will best remember him riding his motorcycle all over town and in the mountains. He enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, dancing, and playing pool. His favorite board game was "Risk". In his younger years, he was famous for predicting upcoming music legends, such as the Bee Gees and the Eagles. He was so talented and intelligent, he built a working radio station that broadcasted in our area, from his backyard in his sister's dollhouse that their dad had built.

    Mr. Trivett leaves behind a son, Michael Trivett and his wife Amanda; a sister, Sherri Kay and her husband Alvin Elrod; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

    The family would like to extend a special thanks to Richard Sproles and his friend Melinda for their special friendship to Mr. Trivett.

    Visitation will be held for Mr. Trivett at Bread of Life Fellowship located at 2308 Watauga Road in Johnson City, TN 37601 on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM and a Memorial service will follow beginning at 6:30 PM. Pastor Todd Ellis is officiating.
