    Lois Gladys Ward, 91, of Banner Elk, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017 at The Waters of Roan Highlands in Roan Mountain, TN.

    A native of Avery County, NC, she was born January 10, 1926, a daughter of the late Warren and Minnie Guy Turbyfill. Lois loved crafting, quilting, crocheting, knitting and spending time in the beauty of her gardens.

    Mrs. Ward was a member of the Heaton Christian Church.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Winford Ward; two children, Timmy and Carol Ward; and her brothers, Bill and Bob Turbyfill.

    A loving "Ma", she leaves behind her sons, Joe and Judy Ward of Banner Elk, Danny and Carolyn Ward of Banner Elk; daughter, Patsy and Gary Vance of Banner Elk; sister in law, Sue Turbyfill of Zephyrhills, FL; along with her six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.

    Services for Lois Ward will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 1, 2017 from the Grandfather Chapel of Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Cole and Pastor Jamie Shell officiating. A private interment service will follow.

    Billy Hoover Turbyfill, age 84, of Banner Elk passed away on September 29, 2014 at his residence.

    A native of Avery County, he was born April 30, 1930 a son of the late Warren Edward and Minnie Naomi Guy Turbyfill.

    Billy served during the Korean Conflict for the U.S Army and retired from Broughton Hospital in Morganton.

    He was a member of the Lower Shell Creek Christian Church and enjoyed fishing and gardening.

    Along with his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his: wife, Gladys Lorraine Turbyfill; brother, Bob Turbyfill.

    Billy was a loving man and Daddy who was has left to cherish his memory his: daughters, Taunia Erno and husband Harry of Linville, Jeanette Burleson and husband Bobby of Banner Elk; fiance, Marie Vance of Roan Mountain; sister, Lois Ward of Banner Elk; granddaughters, Brittany Hughes and husband Kacey of Frank, Bethany Burleson of Banner Elk; great grandson, Karter Hughes; a host of special nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services for Billy Hoover Turbyfill will be conducted on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 8:00 pm at the Grandfather Chapel with Rev. Gerald Holly officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until the service hour. Family, friends and pallbearers will meet at the funeral home on Thursday, October 2nd at 10:00 a.m. to go in procession to the Heaton Cemetery for graveside services.

    Billy married Gladys Loraine Moody about 1951 in , Avery County, North Carolina, .
