Mrs. Abbie Stout Deloach, 73, Rt. 4, Elizabethton, died in the Carter County Memorial Hospital Thursday morning following an illness of one year.

A native of Glade Springs(sic), Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Silas and Lillie Younce Stout and the widow of John Deloach who died January 9, 1948. Mrs. Deloach was a member of the Valley Forge Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Nita Sams.

Survivors include two sons, Walter Deloach, 818 Cambridge Ave., Elizabethton, and James H. Deloach, Rt. 1, Elizabethton; two daughters, Mrs. Calvin (Laura) Colbaugh, of the home, and Mrs. R. L. (Lena) Nave, Rt.1, Elizabethton; four brothers, John Stout, Bundy, Virginia; Jadie Stout, Cleveland, Ohio; Ed Stout, Watauga, Tennessee; and James Stout of Florida. Six sisters, Mrs Ida Matherly, Butler; Mrs. Booker, Rt.3, Elizabethton; Mrs. Edith Thomas, Pottstown, Pennsylvania; Mrs. China Bathwood of Ohio; Mrs. Blanche Scott, Rt. 3 Elizabethton; and Mrs. Virginia Cottrell, Atlanta, Georgia; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive.

Tetrick Funeral Hall, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Lena Deloach Nave, 85, Elizabethton, went to be with the Lord Jesus on March 9, 2014 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Lena was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late John & Abby Stout Deloach. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a grandson, Stacey McClain, one sister: Laura Colbaugh and two brothers: Walt & Jay Deloach all of Elizabethton. She was a member of Fishery Community Church, Erwin.
Survivors include her husband: R.L. Nave, Daughter: Loretta Fitzgerald, Granddaughters: Missy Keith and husband Kevin, Debbie Edwards and husband Tim. Four Great-Grandchildren; Brooke Street, Nick Oliver, Noah & Hart Keith. One Aunt, nephews, nieces & cousins also survive.
Memorial Services for family and friends will be held at Fishery Community Church in Erwin, Tn. at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014 with Pastor Rusty Wishon officiating.

JOHNSON CITY - Ernest L. “Ernie” Thomason, Sr., 79, Johnson City, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, June 20, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

Ernie was a native of Johnson City, where he resided most of his life. He was a son of the late Lewis Smith and Birdie Blanche Stout Thomason.

Ernie was a 1959 graduate of Science Hill High School.

He was retired from Rainbo Bakery where he worked as a Mechanical Engineer for twenty-three years.

Ernie was a longtime member of Keystone Free Will Baptist Church, and a member of the former Johnson City Rescue Squad for over twenty years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a former member of the Watauga Masonic Lodge #622 F&AM, and a Shriner.

In addition to his parents, Ernie was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Wayne Thomason.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Ellen Marie Workman Thomason; three children, Chip Thomason and wife Lisa, New Mexico, Kelly Williams and husband Keith, Johnson City, Heather Leach and husband Shannon, Johnson City; seven grandchildren, Morgan, Micah, Taylor, Carrie, Caleb, Brent and Ella; three great-grandchildren, Jace, Lincoln and Josie; special uncle/brother, David Thomason, South Carolina; several nieces and nephews; Ernie’s favorite puppy, Jasmine.

The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to the staff of Amedisys Hospice, especially Keith, Crystal and Jennifer, Smokey Mountain Medical Equipment, Dr. Hamati and Dr. Missick.

The graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at 11:00 A.M., in the Mausoleum Chapel of Washington County Memory Gardens, with Rev. Tony Birchfield and Rev. Brandon Ferren, officiating. Special music will be provided by Allan Foster. Active pallbearers will be Shannon, Keith, Eric, Morgan, Taylor, Caleb and Brent. Honorary pallbearers will be David Thomason, John Stalcup and Larry Leach.

Anna Jeanette Whaley - ELIZABETHTON
Anna Jeanette Whaley, age 66, 816 Cambridge Ave., Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord Monday, October 20, 2008, from Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness.

She was born in Carter County to the late John Walter and Helen Hamby Deloach. Mrs. Whaley was a member of the Roan Street Free Will Baptist Church and its Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed fishing in her spare time.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Whaley was preceded in death by three aunts: Lillie Jones, Mildred Greene and Laura Colbaugh; and four uncles: LeRoy and Bobby Grindstaff, Bo Colbaugh and James H. Deloach.

Survivors include her husband of forty-six years, Sgt. First Class James A. Whaley, Ret., US Army, of the home; special cousin, Loretta Fitzgerald, Johnson City; other cousins: John Martin Deloach, CA, Darrell Deloach, NC; three sisters-in-law: Edith Watson and husband, Bob, Butler, Dorothy Deaton and husband, Johnny, Sneed, FL, Mary Stout and husband, Paul, Indianapolis, IN; aunts and uncles: Lena and R.L. Nave, Andy and Geraldine Grindstaff, Fred and Brenda Grindstaff, all of Elizabethton, and Lena Grindstaff, Surgoinsville, TN; and five nephews: Larry White, Kevin Grindstaff, Michael Grindstaff, David Grindstaff and Alan Grindstaff.

The funeral for Mrs. Whaley will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, October 23, in the Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Rev. Ray Stockton and Rev. Ronnie Campbell officiating. Music will be under the direction of Rev. Ronnie Campbell. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday in the chapel prior to the service. Friends may also call at the residence at other times.

The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October 24, in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Everyone is welcome to meet the family at 10:15 a.m. Friday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
