Mrs. Cora Jane Peters Crowe, 82, Rt. 7, Elizabethton, died Sunday, November 28, 1993, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital after a brief illness. Mrs. Crowe as a native of Carter County and a daughter of the Wiley C. and Doshie Richardson Peters. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dana E. Crowe, in 1983, a son, Clifton Crowe, and seven brothers. Mrs. Crowe was a Charter member of the Union Hill Freewill Baptist Church. OBITUARY AND FUNERAL NOTICE: AUDA RALPH PETERS Auda Ralph Peters, age 76, 200 Liberty Hollow Road, Elizabethton, died Sunday, September 21, 2003 at his residence of apparent heart attack. He was a native of Carter County, and was the son of the late John Wesley and Venia Elizabeth Colbaugh Peters. He was of the Baptist Faith and was a retired painter and janitor for Carter County School System. He was a member of Painter Local Union #437. He was a U.S. Army Veteran Having served in World War II as a medic in Germany. He was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters, and a niece, Hildred Artino. Survivors include his wife, Betty Jane Peters, of the home, one son and daughter-in-law, Charles Edward and Judy Peters, NC, three daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Becky and John Lay, Clinton, TN, Genia and Steve Pierce, Elizabethton, Alice Elizabeth Peters, of the home, eight granddaughters, one grandson, 3 great grandsons, one great granddaughter, two sisters and one brother-in-law, Emma Hurley, Baltimore, MD, Reba and Jerry Vines, Elizabethton, several nieces and nephews also survive. Emma Peters Hurley, 83, of Elizabethton, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late John W. and Vennia Colbaugh Peters and was born in Carter County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death, by her husband, Glen "Buck" Hurley; son, John R. Hurley; and 14 brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Hurley was a member of New Liberty Freewill Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and working word puzzles.

She is survived by her daughter, Neta Schneibolk of Sandy Spring, MD; two sons, Ronnie Hurley and Greg Hurley and his wife Brenda all of Elizabethton; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a special niece, Becky Peters Lay; sister, Reba Vines and her husband Jerry of Elizabethton; and a special friend and "sister", Addie Blevins of Elizabethton. Several other nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

The funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 pm Sunday, August 12, 2012, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Bill Greer officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm prior to the service. You may also visit with the family at the residence at any other time.

The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday, August 13, 2012, in the Blevins Cemetery with Rev. Derl Curry officiating. Mrs. Heatherly was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Willie C. and Nancy Peters Colbaugh. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Heatherly, December 22, 1992, three sisters, Eula Faye Colbaugh, Emma May Dean Colbaugh and Magdalene Garland, and two brothers, Dewey E. Colbaugh and Clyde Colbaugh.
Mrs. Heatherly had lived in Arizona since 1945. She was a member of New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Lloyd Heatherly, Pasadena, Calif., and Luther S. Anna Lee Oliver, 92, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, April 29, 2016, at Hermitage Health Center. She was born in Carter County and was a daughter of the late George and Matilda Peters Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Oliver, in 1975; a great-grandson, Keaton Wayne Oliver Jacobs; five sisters, Amanda Eggers, Burless Bowers, Vada Grindstaff, Lillian Wilson and Emma Taylor; and five brothers, Gilbert Taylor, Grady Taylor, Luther Taylor, Emra Taylor and Zaney Taylor.
Mrs. Oliver was a homemaker. She loved to garden and take care of her flowers and to spend time with her family, whom she loved very much. She was an avid UT fan and a member of Dungan Chapel Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Georgia Arnold and her husband, Gary, Elizabethton; her son, William Rick Oliver and his wife, Robin, Elizabethton; four granddaughters, Regina Luttrell, Sabrina McCloud, Rikki Oliver and Adina Arnold; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Gennivee Farmer, Elizabethton; and a very special friend of the family, Shirley Qusenberry. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor the life of Mrs. Oliver will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Eric Heaton officiating. Music will be under the direction of Brenda Taylor and Jennifer Green. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service, and at her home at other times. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, in the Ensor Cemetery. CONCORD, NC — Euvada Ina Peters, 90, Concord, North Carolina formerly of Elizabethton, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2016, in the Carolinas Medical Center North East, Concord, North Carolina.

A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Alfred M. & Mae Shankles Peters. She loved to cook, work in her flowers and loved to read. Euvada was a Charter Member and the oldest member of Carter Christian Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother & sister-in-law, Durward. & Lucy Peters; and two sisters, Edith and Marjorie Peters.

Survivors include her special niece whom she made her home with, Jill Peters Croley and husband Dr. Giltz Croley and their two children, Mason & Mallory; two nephews, Frank Peters and wife Angie and their children, Jason, Lance, and Luke also Michael Peters and his children, Meredith, Weston & Jordan. Also several cousins and her special friend and neighbor, Lillian Carrier.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 12 Noon on Thursday, January 21, 2016, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Darrell Cox, Minister officiating. Interment will follow in the Blevins Cemetery. Erma Lou Peters Broyles, 82, of Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at her residence.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Anderson and Pearl Taylor Peters. She was a graduate of Unaka High School.
Erma Lou in earlier years had worked for Dr. Bowman and also had worked for her brothers, who were in the jewelry business. She was a member of New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church and also attended First Free Will Baptist Church of Elizabethton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Lewis Broyles, who died December 26, 2004; two sisters, Betty Taylor and Wilma Cannon; and three brothers, Lefty, Rondal and Albun Peters.
Survivors include her son, Terry Jack Broyles; a sister-in-law, Mary Peters; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Erma Lou Peters Broyles will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, March 23, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jack Lloyd officiating. Music will be provided by Grady Holder. John “Papaw John” Wesley Richardson, age 80, of Elizabethton, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Hermitage Healthcare and is finally free of this world’s pain.

He was born at home in the Stoney Creek Community, the son of the late Walter Brownlow Richardson and Daisy Lula Peters Richardson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Pat Stout Richardson in 2018; and an infant sister, Etta Mae.

John attended Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church and was a United States Army veteran, having served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a sheet metal worker by trade and loved woodworking and painting cars. Papaw John was an American Picker long before Mike and Frank.

Those left to cherish his memory are his three children, Randy Richardson and wife Nicole, Tammy Troutman and husband Tim and Danny Richardson and wife Lisa; six grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, Miranda Richardson, Zachary and Rachel Peters, Hunter, Abigail and Emily Richardson; a brother, Eddie Richardson; and an extended family, Gary, Maria, Garrett and Alyson Deloach, and James, Renita, Amara, Aundria and Alena Bunten.

A service to honor and celebrate the life of John “Papaw John” Wesley Richardson will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Reverend Doug Hinshaw, Joey Burker and Reverend Kenny Lethcoe, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Tuesday or at the residence at any time.

The graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Ernest Edward "Eddie" Richardson, age 74, went home to be with the Lord peacefully at the home of his loving daughter on Friday, March 6. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter Brownlow Richardson and Daisy Peters Richardson, an infant sister Etta Mae, and a brother John Wesley Richardson. Eddie worked for many years at Mapes Piano String Company in Elizabethton. He was a long time member of East Side Freewill Baptist Church and then Eternal Life Missionary Baptist Church. Eddie was an avid deer hunter. He liked Tennessee football, loved hotdogs, and always enjoyed special fishing trips with his son

Those that remain who will love and miss him every single day are his two children who were the bright spots in his life, Lisa Richardson Cipy and Chad Richardson, and one granddaughter, Brittney "Alex" Cipy Joyner, two nephews Randy and Danny Richardson, and a niece, Tammy Troutman, and a brother-in-law who was more like a son, Kevin Lipford. Others who share special memories with Eddie are first wife and mother of his children, Susan Ellison, Abagayle Cable, Ricky Evans, Jane W. Richardson, Bob Rasnick, and Gregory Hilton.

The family would like to express their greatest appreciation for the amazing staff who became like family to Eddie at Smokey Mountain Clinic of Davita, especially Penny Jones, during his extended illness.
