    ELIZABETHTON - On Thursday, December 28, 2017 an old soldier, Ivan W. McQueen, age 95, of Elizabethton went home to be with his Lord at his residence.

    Ivan was born in Carter County to the late Lee H. and Deborah Smith McQueen. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Diane Nave; his brothers, Harry, J.D., Shirley, Kenneth, Charles and F.M. McQueen; and his sisters, Bea M. Elliott, Sue M. Lady and Margie McQueen Townsend Lyons.

    Ivan retired from North American Rayon Corporation, after 52 years of service. He was a United States Army veteran, having served as a Sergeant in World War II, in the 104th Infantry Division, Timberwolves. Ivan was a member of Elizabethton Church of Christ, where he had served as a secretary and treasurer. He enjoyed sports, baseball, the Elizabethton Twins- and he attended almost all of the Twins games. He also enjoyed visiting Watauga Lake and gardening.

    Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 76 years, Virginia (Jean) McQueen, of the home; a son, Glenn McQueen, of Elizabethton; a grandson, Richard R. McQueen and wife Helen, of Tampa, FL; a great granddaughter, Lilah M. McQueen; a brother, George McQueen, of Elizabethton; several nieces, nephews and his special friends, Justin Bowers and Austin Murray, also survive.

    A service to celebrate and honor the life of Ivan W. McQueen will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Sunday, December 31, 2017 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Mr. Roby Ellis, minister and Mr. Eddie Craft, minister, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Elizabethton Church of Christ singers. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Sunday.

    The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Ivan's brothers in the 104th Infantry Division of the United States Army.

    ELIZABETHTON — Brenda McQueen Nave, age 66, of Elizabethton, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2015, at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital, following a brief illness.

    Brenda was a native of Carter County and was the daughter of Ivan W. McQueen and Virginia Crumley McQueen.

    Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward "Eddy" Nave; and one sister-in-law, Judy Nave.

    Brenda graduated from Elizabethton High School in 1966, where she was a member of the Betsy Band, then went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from ETSU. She retired from Keenburg Elementary School in the year 2000, after 30 years of service as a 2nd grade teacher.

    She was a member of Elizabethton Church of Christ.

    Those left to cherish her memory, include her mother and father, Ivan and Virginia McQueen, of Elizabethton; one brother, Glenn "Skip" McQueen, of Johnson City; one special nephew, Richard Ryan McQueen and wife Helen, of Odessa, FL; one great great niece, Lilah McQueen, also of Odessa, FL; her mother-in-law, Madge Nave, of Mountain City; and one sister-in-law, Mary Nave, also of Mountain City.

    A service to honor the life of Mrs. Brenda McQueen Nave will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 17, 2015, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Mr. Roby Ellis and Mr. Eddy Craft, ministers, officiating.

    The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Thursday.

    The graveside service will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain City, Tennessee.

    Brenda married Charles Edward "Eddy" Nave on 18 Oct 1974 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. Charles (son of Living and Madge Marie Johnson) was born on 3 Jul 1946 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; died on 4 0CT 2002 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Mountain View Cemetery, , Johnson County, Tennessee.
