    She was the daughter of the late Brownlow Sheets and Ethel Lyons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Arvy Carr and Eugene M. Taylor; one son, Fred Carr; one brother; five sisters; a grandson, Steven Carr; two infant grandchildren; and several half brothers and half sisters.

    Mrs. Taylor had worked for 10 years at Levi Strauss and Company and had also worked at Quik Cleaners.

    She was a member of Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church and loved gardening, flowers, quilting, sewing and loved to read her bible.

    JOHNSON CITY — Nola L. Timbs, 80, Johnson City passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at the home of a daughter after a brief illness.

    Nola was born July 28, 1935 in Elizabethton to the late Sidney & Lessie Pearl Sheets Byers. Nola lived most of her life in Elizabethton with the exception of the past 10 years while living with her daughter in Johnson City.

    She was of the Christian Faith and a member of Borderview Christian Church for many years. Nola will be remembered for her love of Children having raised seven of her own along with assisting with caring for many other children throughout her lifetime.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Roy Haskel "Hack" Timbs on February 11, 1991; two sisters, Irene Byars and Betty Byers; and four brothers, Carl, Ray, John & Terry Byers.

    She is survived by her children, Steven (Suzan) Timbs, Kennedy, Texas, Rita Timbs (Robert) Gouge, Bakersville, North Carolina, Timothy (Sharon Culler), Elizabethton, Sandy Timbs of Johnson City, Vickie(Darrell) Woods, Elizabethton, Rick (Barbara) Timbs, Jonesborough and Bill (Denise) Timbs, Elizabethton; three sisters, Hazel (Larry) Buckles, Ruth Roark and Mandy (Dr. David) Freeman; one brother, Jerry Byers; 17 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Friday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Ernie Depew, Minister officiating.

    Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2016, in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Mr. Bobby McGee. Active Pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Robert Gouge, Darrell Woods, Bobby McGee, Walter Schwiem and Joe Revelee.

    The family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Staff of Advent Hospice of Johnson City and Smokey Mountain Medical, along with Dr. Vivian Clark and her staff, thanks also to Mandy Freemon and Denise Timbs for your assistance and kindness throughout her time of need. A special "Thank You" to mom's best friend, Sharon Helbert for her expressions of love and kindness.

    ELIZABETHTON - Carolyn Ruth Byers Roark, 70, Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was born January 17, 1953, in Elizabethton to the late Sidney & Lassie Sheets Byers. She was retired due to disability from Amerace Corporation. She loved taking care of her grandchildren and working in her garden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters: Irene Byars, Nola Timbs and Betty Byers and four brothers: John, Ray, Terry and Carl Byers. Carolyn attended Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church, Johnson City.

    Survivors include her husband of 28 years: Roger Roark. One Daughter & Son-in-law: Marcy & Chuck Babb, Elizabethton. Three Grandchildren: Spencer Babb, Landon Babb and Adleigh Babb. Two Sisters: Hazel Buckles & husband Larry, Elizabethton and Mandy Freeman & husband David, Piney Flats. One Brother: Jerry Byers, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2023 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dexter Brummitt officiating. The eulogy will be given by Pastor Chuck Babb. Music will be provided by Larry Taylor and Buford Quillen. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 2, 2023, in the Emmert Cemetery. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Thursday will be: Spencer Babb, Landon Babb, Ronnie Byars, Rob Lambert, Rick Timbs and Tim Timbs. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. David Freeman, Larry Buckles, Steve Timbs and Bill Timbs. The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Victoria Shankle and the ICU Staff of Sycamore Shoals Hospital for the excellent care she received.

    Clarence Carr, 74, of Pembroke, Va., departed this life on June 25, 2022. Born in Tennessee on January 16, 1947, he was a son of the late Arvy and Lucille Sheets Carr.
    Clarence served his communities faithfully, first as a soldier in the Vietnam War, and later as a contractor.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sybil Marie Carr; son, Stephen Carr; and brother, Fred Carr.
    Left to cherish his memory to their hearts are his son, Quentin Carr (April) of Blacksburg; daughter, Angelique Nickles of Eggleston; grandchildren, Jake Carr, Michael Carr, Derak Nickles, Heather Hagerman, and Issa Carr; brothers, Clyde Carr of Tennessee, and Kenny Carr (Alice) of Tennessee; and sisters, Ann Hensley of Tennessee, and Virginia Hicks (Richard) of Tennessee.
