    Vicie E. Hilman Birchfield, 89, Johnson City went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at the residence of Otis & Patsy Griffey of Butler.

    A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late John & Biddie Hill Hilman of Roan Mountain.

    She worked at Magnavox for 10 years and was a care giver for several years.

    Mrs. Birchfield was a member of Sinking Creek Baptist Church.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ray Birchfield, a son, Ronnie Birchfield, a grandson, Jerry Ray Birchfield and a special son-in-law: Perry Bradford.

    Survivors include two daughters: Sue Bradford, Elizabethton and a special daughter & son-in-law: Patsy & Otis Griffey, Butler. Two Sons: J.D. Birchfield of the home and Jack & Deb Birchfield of Elizabethton. Her Grandchildren: Lori, Becky, Ronnie, Terry. Her Great Grandchildren: Brittany & Danielle Helmick, Seth Clawson, Libby Buchanan, Isabell & Joshua Ray. Her 5th Generation Great Great Great Granddaughter: Kenzie "Ray Ann Helmick "Red Bird". Two Wonderful men in her life, Dennis Helmick, Jr. and Travis Willens. Her special Cousins. Stanley & Mozella Whittington, Elizabethton, Phyllis Walker and Lou Calloway. A special cousin who she thought of as a daughter: Kathy Stout. Her special friends: John & Margaret Campbell of Butler, Floyd & Frances Bradford of Elizabethton.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. on Thursday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Stevie Guinn and Rev. Roy Cooper officiating.

    Graveside Service and Interment will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2015, in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by The Fork Mountain Quartet. Active Pallbearers will be: Dennis Helmick, Jr., Travis Willens, Tony Griffey, Butch Calloway, Rebecca Willens and Lori Helmick. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Otis Griffey, Stanley Whittington, Bill Stout, Earl Lacey and Marty Buchanan.

    J. D. Birchfield, 71, of Johnson City, passed away unexpectedly Monday, January 28, 2019, at his residence. He was born October 9, 1947 in Roan Mountain to the late Ray and Vicie Hilman Birchfield.
    J.D. was retired as a tree trimmer. He was of the Baptist Faith.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Birchfield, and a brother-in-law, Perry Bradford.
    Survivors include his sisters, Sue Bradford, Elizabethton, and Patsy Griffey and husband Otis, Butler, and a brother, Jack Birchfield, Elizabethton. Survivors also include his nieces, Rebecca Willens and husband Travis, Elizabethton, and Lori Helmick and D.J. Helmick, Roan Mountain. He had many great-nieces and great-nephews.
    Funeral services for J.D. Birchfield will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, February 1, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Charlie Trivette officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Melvin Myers and Junior Guinn.
