    He was captured by Confderate forces at the Skirmish at Zollicoffer (later named Bluff City in Sullivan County, Tennessee) on 19 October 1863. He was taken to a Confederate prison camp in Danville, Virginia. There he contacted small pox and died in the hospital on 22 Dec 1863. Extracted from his military record.
