    James Monroe Timbs, age 73, of 2290 Dug Hill Road in Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away Monday, November 11, 2013, at his home following an extended illness. He was born in Johnson County on January 8, 1940, to the late Ezekiel Amos Timbs and Lessie Ann Stout Timbs. In addition to his parents, his stepmother, Alma Arney Timbs, preceded him in death. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing. He also found a great deal of enjoyment in gardening and tending to a variety of fruit trees. He was also a talented artist. His greatest enjoyment, however, came from the time he spent with his three grandchildren. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where he enjoyed serving as a greeter every Sunday morning. He graduated from Johnson County High School in 1958 and he served four years in the United States Marine Corps from 1960-1964. During this time, he served aboard the U.S.S. Fremont, the U.S.S. Chilton and L.P.H. 8 aircraft carrier. He also spent 22 months stationed in Oahu, Hawaii. Upon returning to Johnson County in 1964, he accepted one of the first open positions at Iron Mountain Stoneware and worked there for many years. He retired from Film Processing Corporation in 1992. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Wanda Sue Cornett Timbs, of the home; two sons: David James Timbs and wife, Anne Peterson Timbs, of Mountain City, and Daniel Alan Timbs and wife, Chassie Brown Timbs, also of Mountain City; three grandchildren: Nathan David Timbs, Sidney Rebekah Timbs and Katelynn "Katie" Gladys Timbs; two brothers and one sister: Joe Timbs and wife, Betty, of Lenoir, North Carolina, Herman Timbs and wife, Betty, of Mountain City, and Lucille Brown and husband, Harvey, also of Mountain City. He is also survived by eleven nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 3390 Roan Creek Road, Mountain City, from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 14. Services will immediately follow visitation with the Rev. Jim Norman and Rev. Scott Plyler officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church choir. Special music will be provided by Donna Fritts and Linda Morefield. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 15, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Norman and Rev. Dan Little officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be Jim McCulloch, Danny Herman, Duane Peterson, James Brown, Mike Pryor, Harvey Brown, and Tony Griffith. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Wilson, Bill Worley, Johnny Arnold, Joe Herman, and members of the Men's Sunday School Class of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. The family also expresses deep appreciation to members of the Johnson County Rescue Squad, Amedisys Hospice, and the doctors and nurses of the Veterans Administration Medical Center at Mountain Home.

    Herman Timbs, age 69, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2013, following a lengthy illness. He was born on August 31, 1944, to the late Zeke and Lessie Stout Timbs. In addition to his parents, Herman was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Timbs; and step mother, Alma Timbs. Herman loved football and was a fanatical Tennessee Vols Fan. He also enjoyed watching the Tennessee Titans and Dallas Cowboys. He worked for Burlington Industries for many years. Herman had also worked for the Johnson County Rescue Squad for many years. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing and working in his gardens. Herman was a member of Vaughts Gap Baptist Church. Herman is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Betty Timbs; daughter, Penny Timbs; son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Melissa Timbs; sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Harvey Brown; sister-in-law, Wanda Timbs; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Betty Timbs; grandchildren: Adam Timbs and Dalton Timbs; special friend that Herman claimed as a grandson, Daniel Helm; special niece, Ashley Wilson; several nieces, nephews and cousins and many special friends. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 15, 2013, at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chuck Morefield and Pastor Mack Arnold to officiate. Special Music will be provided by the Vaughts Gap Baptist Church Choir. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Graveside Service and Interment will follow from the Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Coleman Brown, Jerry Brown, Tommy Neatherly, Tom Icenhour, Mike Pryor, Bob Stout, Eddie Rhymer and Jason Wolfe. Honorary Pallbearers are Harvey Brown, Martin Vickers, D.L. Brown and Dr. Robert Griffith and Staff.

    Betty Jean Roberts, age 76 of 311 Melvin Brown Lane, Mountain City, Tennessee passed away in the Mountain City Care Center on Tuesday, September 06, 2016.

    Ms. Roberts was born on August 9, 1940 to the late M.M. Stout and Ruth Norris Stout. In addition to her parents she was proceeded in death by four brothers; Billy Ray Stout, Rhonda Stout, J.R. Stout, and Jimmy Stout. Betty loved sewing, listening to bluegrass music and spending time with her grandchildren. She attended the Dyson Grove Baptist Church.

    Survivors include; two daughters, Shelia Kennedy, Mountain City, TN and

    Melody Grayson and husband Todd, Mountain City, TN; two sons, Mark Roberts, Mountain City, TN and Tim Roberts and wife Robin, Mountain City, TN; brother; Jack Stout and wife Sharon Mountain City, TN; five Grandchildren, Jamie Roberts and wife Dawn, Mtn City, TN; Jason Roberts and wife Emily, Johnson City, TN; Jodi "Candy" Hampton, Mountain City, TN; Jarrett Roberts, Johnson City, TN and Gracie Grayson of Mountain City, TN. Six Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews as well as special friends, Maratha Dugger, Judy Stout, Lucille Brown, and Sam Renfro also survive.

    Funeral service for Ms. Roberts will be conducted on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 6:00 pm. in the Charles B. Hux Chapel of Hux-Lipford funeral home with a visitation prior to the service from 5:00 until 6:00 pm. Cameron Dula will be officiating. Graveside service will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jamie Roberts, Jason Roberts, Jarrett Roberts, Blade Hampton, Gage Hampton, Eli Eller, David Martin, Bobby Potter, Todd Grayson and Ronnie Hughes. Honorary Pallbearers are Doctors and Staff of the Mountain City Care Center.

    We are saddened to announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Vaught Stout, age 66, who passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 18, 2021. He was the son of the late Grady Vaught Stout and Ruby Faye McCulloch of Mountain City, TN. He was born on April 1, 1955. He was also preceded in death by his brother: Douglas Stout, and maternal grandparents Roby and Hassie Woodard.

    Bob loved playing music, especially with his Nephew Grady and the Sandy Mountain Boys. He loved riding his Harley’s and he was the owner of Thunder Mountain Motorcross, he loved operating heavy equipment and there was not a single piece of equipment he didn’t excel on. Bob loved playing football and basketball in his younger years and watching it in his later years.

    Bob was the owner of Bob Stout Construction, which he took much pride in, since 1986.

    Those left to cherish his memories include his Mother Ruby Stout McCulloch; Fiancee: Becky Sewell; Daughter: Brandy (Chuck) Bennett;Nephew: Grady (Evelyn) Stout. His other children that he considered his own: Eric Ward, Taylor Ward, Nicole and Ethan Ward; Special Uncle and Aunt: John and Julie Woodard; Special Cousins: Leigh McCullough, Kenny Roark and Jack Stout and many others; Special Friends: The Staff of Bob Stout Construction; Grandchilden: Alexis Bennett, Maddox Bennett, Roland, Anna and Robert Reed Stout and Zane Ward.

    Pallbearers include Maddox Bennett, Eric Ward, Ethan Ward, Billy Jack Stout, Jace Stout, Jack Stout, Dale Hope and Carroll Chappell.

    Honorary pallbearers include John Woodard, Kenny Roark, Roland Stout, Robert Reed Stout, Desi Ward, Jeff Wagner, Thomas Moore, Dustin Tester, Rodney Sewell, Jerry Brown, Fred Eldreth and Bob Hope.

    A Funeral Service for Bob will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at 8:00 pm at the Johnson County High School Gymnasium. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 prior to the service with Pastor Steven Spencer and Chuck Morefield officiating. A Graveside service will be held at the Stout Family Cemetery at 11:00 am on Thursday 23, 2021 with Rev. Steven Spencer and Chuck Morefield to officiate.
