Mr. Daniel R. Lowe, 85, of 123 Okalona Road, Johnson City, TN, went home to be with his Lord on July 28, 2004.
Mr. Lowe was a native of Carter County and had lived his entire life in the Johnson City and Milligan area.
He was a son of the late George and Annie Blevins Lowe. Mr. Lowe will be forever remembered as a devout loving Christian man whose compassion, understanding, integrity and love for all he knew was a guiding beacon. His wisdom and guidance were beyond measure. His love of the outdoors and nature was always reflected in his speaking about his God.
Mr. Lowe, in addition to his parents, was preceded in death by two sons: Lonnie K. Lowe and Stanley Wayne Lowe; two brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 61 years, Stella T. Salts Lowe; His devoted sons and their wives: George and Judy Lowe, of Jonesborough, TN, Benny and Lynn Lowe, of Elizabethton, TN, Robert Hackler and Randi, of North Tazewell, VA.; five grandchildren, Kelly Lowe Conley, of Knoxville, TN, Christopher Lowe, of Greenville, NC, Shannon Lowe, of Elizabethton, TN, Melissa Elliott, of Fayetteville, NC, Paige Hackler (his hunting buddy), of Tazewell, VA; three great grandchildren.
He is also survived by four brothers: Roby Lowe, Delmer Lowe, both of Johnson City, Thomas Lowe, of Jonesborough, Eugene Lowe, of Florida; three sisters: Bessie Peters, Georgia Morgan and Yvonne Arnett, all of Johnson City; one very special niece, Barbara Lowe; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of loving friends also survive.

Georgia L. Morgan, 91, of Johnson City, was called to Heaven early Sunday, August 30, 2015, in the Johnson City Medical Center.

Georgia was a native of Stoney Creek, TN. She was a daughter of George Wiley and Annie Blevins Lowe. Georgia graduated from Science Hill High School in 1941. Her career was that of a homemaker, mother, and grandmother. Georgia was an avid reader, spending much time at the Johnson City Public Library. She had a talent for caring for her flowers.

She was a member of the Presbyterian faith.

She was an unmistakable beauty who swore by Noxzema, Aqua Net, and cod liver oil. She fiercely loved her family and spoke her mind freely and often. She was a masterful storyteller with perfectly coiffed hair just the right shade of Frisky Fawn and precocious, crystal blue eyes. She loved having her nails painted, visiting, and the Miss America Pageant. She loved "those grandbabies" and sending them cards with McDonald's gift cards tucked inside, always elegantly signed "Grandmother Budgie". May she now rest eternally with the Lord. Amen to a beautiful life!

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her former husband, James S. Morgan; son, James R. Morgan; brothers, James, Lonza, Dan, Eugene, Roby, and twin brothers, Thomas Selmer and William Delmer Lowe. Sisters preceding her in death are Ethel Sheets, Thelma Crocetta, and Bessie Peters.

Survivors include three daughters, Kathy Morgan of Johnson City, Betsy Morgan Jernigan of Knoxville, and Robin Morgan Visser of Frederick, Maryland. Surviving grandchildren are Alison Poor (Joe) of Columbus, Ohio; Jonathan Visser (Lauren) of Carrollton, Virginia; Amy Visser Lee of Frederick, Maryland; Stephanie Jernigan of Knoxville; and Molly Jernigan of Paris, Kentucky. She is survived by seven great-grandchildren, Jackson, Spencer, and Scarlet Poor of Columbus, Ohio; Josie, Natalie, and Corbin Lee of Frederick, Maryland; and Cody Visser of Carrollton, Virginia. Other survivors include sister, Yvonne Lowe; special nieces, Teresa Smalling, Barbara Tucker, and Pat Lowe; and special friends, Sandy McClain, Karen Hale, Sharon Johnson, Wilma McClain, and Nina Bingham.

The family of Georgia L. Morgan will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2015, in Morris-Baker Funeral Home.

Following the visitation, family and friends will proceed to Monte Vista Memorial Park for a 2:45 p.m. graveside service. Chaplain Ken Solly will officiate.

Active pallbearers will be: Tom Smalling, Duane Smalling, Zach Smalling, Benny Lowe, and G.W. Lowe. Honorary pallbearers are: Joe McClain, Jerry Tucker, Wes Tucker, Scott Smalling, and the entire staff of the Johnson City Medical Center Medical Intensive Care Unit.

JOHNSON CITY - Yvonne Lowe Arnett, age 93, of Johnson City, Tennessee, died after a brief illness in her home on Monday, August 9, 2021. She was born the daughter of the late George Wiley Lowe and Annie Blevins Lowe.

She is survived by her daughter, Carole Ross and husband Ken, of Jonesborough, TN; son, Danny Arnett and wife Marty, of Bluffton, SC; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Arnett was a member of Oakland Avenue Baptist Church and sang in the choir and was a member of the Pastor’s Sunday School Class.

A private graveside service is planned. There will be no public memorial service at this time because of Covid.

The family wishes to express thanks to Amedisys Hospice Care and especially to her friend Linda Dawson for their care during her illness.

Mr. Thomas Selmer Lowe, 79, of Johnson City, died Wednesday, May 19, 2010, in the Wellmont Hospice House in Kingsport.

Mr. Lowe was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City. He was a son of the late George W. and Annie Lowe.

Mr. Lowe was a retired State Farm Insurance agent with twenty years of service. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Mr. Lowe was a member of the Boone Trail Baptist Church, the Johnson City Masonic Lodge # 486, all York Rite Bodies and the Jericho Shrine, North Johnson City Business Club and the Model A Car Club.

He is preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Betty Blevins Lowe, in 1995; one son, Thomas Lowe; several brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include: one son, G. Keith Lowe and wife, Lori, of Jonesborough; two daughters, Sherry Sue Carden and husband, Jim, of Johnson City, and Deborah E. Lowe, of Jonesborough; two brothers, Roby Lowe and Delmer Lowe, both of Johnson City; two sisters, Yvonne Arnett and Georgia Lowe, both of Johnson City; five grandchildren, Jimmy Carden, of Nashville, Jason Lowe, of Memphis, Heath Lowe, of Knoxville, Shanna Ortloff, of Jonesborough, and Coye Lowe, of Knoxville; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family of Thomas Selmer Lowe will receive friends on Saturday, May 22, 2010, in the Mausoleum Chapel of the Monte Vista Memorial Park from 10 to 11 AM.

A service of entombment will follow at 11 AM in the Mausoleum Chapel. Tim Hall, Minister, will officiate.

ELIZABETHTON - Mary Lowe Cole, age 93, of Elizabethton, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Steven Jacob Lowe and Lena Belle Grindstaff Lowe and was born in Carter County on January 19, 1930. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Vernon Taylor in 1973; her second husband, Arlie Cole in 2022; an infant daughter, Patricia Kay Taylor; and five siblings, Myrtle Estep, Steve Lowe, Jr., Jemema Ensor, Charlie Lowe and Wilma Williams.

Mary was a homemaker and a member of Willow Springs Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to yard sales and flea markets and loved to collect tea pots.

Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Barney Taylor (Beverley) of Middletown, OH; a daughter, Priscilla Davis (Eddie) of Elizabethton; a brother, Lonnie Lowe of Elizabethton; a granddaughter, Heather (fiancé Austin Church) of Elizabethton; and a great-granddaughter, Matti Abel of Elizabethton. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

Onnie Jemema Lowe Ensor, 87, Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord, Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home. She was born March 5, 1935 in Carter County to the late Steve and Belle Grindstaff Lowe.
Jemema was a graduate of Unaka High School and a retired cook at Hunter Elementary School. She was a member of Hunter Memorial Baptist Church.
Jemema was an avid Ladies Vols Basketball fan. She loved to sew, cook, read and most of all she loved her church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Ensor, and by several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her children, Sandra (Mike) Patrick, Clarksville, Tenn., Debbie (Eric) Heaton, Amy (James) Morrell and Audra (David) Wood, all of Elizabethton; her grandchildren, Brittany Heaton, Cody Cornett, Matthew (Chelsea) Wood and Chelsea Wood, and soon to be great-grandson, John Ross Wood; her sister, Mary Cole; a brother, Lonnie Lowe; several nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dennie and Ruby Ensor.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 9, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with her son-in-law, Pastor Eric Heaton, and Pastor Doug Hartley officiating. Music will be provided by Joel Crisp. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, June 10, in the Kress Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Friday, will be James “Tank” Morrell, Matthew Wood, Shane Lowe, David Wood, Cody Cornett and Gary Morrell. ELIZABETHTON - Wilma P. Lowe Williams, 81 years old, Elizabethton, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022 at home. She was the daughter of Steve and Belle Grindstaff Lowe. Wilma retired from Iodent Chemical Company. She was a faithful member of Unaka Baptist Church, Elizabethton and the Red Hat Ladies Sunday School Class and a member of the choir. She enjoyed gardening and making apple butter with Joe and breaking beans on the carport with the family. On Sundays, you would find her cooking for her family. Everyone knew Wilma enjoyed having her dessert first. Wilma’s homemade vegetable soup was famous for helping others feel better. Her potato salad and egg salad sandwiches could be found at any church function. Wilma’s servant heart and sweet smile will be missed by all. Nana loved and enjoyed her grandchildren, even if it meant “washing their mouth out with soap” or “switching their behinds”.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Joe in December 2020, brothers: Clarence, Landon, Carl, Junior, Charlie and Sister, Myrtle Estep.
She is survived by her children: Kane (Geri), and Melissa Elsea (Tim), Grandchildren: Dana Potter (Brad), Kayleigh Gouge (Ryan) and Kameron Elsea (Hannah). ELIZABETHTON - Floyd D. (Todd) Lowe, 82, Elizabethton went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at his residence.

A native of Carter County he was a son of the late John & Mary Peters Lowe. Floyd was a 1954 graduate of Unaka High School. He served in the United States Air Force for three and one-half years. He retired from Raytheon Corporation in 1993 after 36 years of service. He was a member of Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church sense 1964, served on the Deacon Board and was Choir Director. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Ralph, Bill and Harold Lowe and one sister: Beatrice Lockner.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years: Mary Ann Mercer Lowe. A daughter and son-in-law: Vivian Ruth & Daniel Wood, Piney Flats. One sister: Florence Belt, Welcome, North Carolina. One brother: Lloyd Lowe and wife Sue of Elizabethton. His special Honorary grandchildren: Cooper and Taylor Shanks and Sydney Markland. Several nieces & nephews. His Brother-In-Law: Robert Mercer & wife Liz, Mercer, Texas and sister-in-law: JoAnn & husband Phil McQueen.

Lloyd Philip Lowe, 83, Elizabethton, passed away Friday, February 24, 2023, at Hillview Health Center following an extended illness. He was born on June 23, 1939 to the late John and Mary Peters Lowe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers, sisters and nephews. Mr. Lowe was a 1957 graduate of Unaka High School. He attended Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church his entire life. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Lloyd retired from Holston Ordinance & Eastman Chemical Company after 30 years of service. After his retirement, he worked as a courier for 10 years at Citizens Bank. Prior to his illness, Mr. Lowe enjoyed walking the trail at Sycamore Shoals and in later years watching sports on TV with his beloved grandson. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Sue Lowe; a daughter, Mary Lowe Harrell; a special grandson, Noah Evan Harrell; and a special great-niece, Jennifer Morrell. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, a sister-in-law, cousins and friends. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Kenny Lethcoe officiating.
