    Notes:

    ELIZABETHTON — Mrs. Irene Gentry Crowe, 96, Elizabethton went home to be with her Lord, Sunday, February 3, 2013 in the Hillview Health Center.

    A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late William and Cora Berry Gentry. She had lived most of her life in Elizabethton. She was a graduate of the Watauga Academy. Mrs. Crowe had worked at several different department stores in Elizabethton. Until her illness she was an active member of Oak Street Baptist Church. She was an excellent seamstress, loved working in her garden, canning, cooking , and loved to quilt. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Rev. John W. Crowe, three brothers: Maynard, Harry and Robert Gentry and two sisters; Dorothy Hammonds and Icle Nave.

    Survivors include a daughter & son-in-law: Flora & Henry Joy, Johnson City. Two Sons & daughters-in-law: Roger & Cookie Crowe, Elizabethton and Carey & Betty Crowe, Knoxville. Four Grandchildren: Kendra McPherson, Becky Jackson, Brian Crowe and David Crowe. 8 Great Grandchildren. Several Nieces & Nephews including two special nieces: Wilma Shoun and Barbara Blevins. Her special friends: Shelby Medearis and Vi Watson.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2013 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Hendrich officiating. Interment will follow in Butler Memorial Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Brian Crowe, David Crowe, Dustin Jackson, Robert McPherson, Peter Crowe, Sam Crowe, Alvin Woodby and Ben Watson.

    The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the entire staff of Hillview Health Center for the excellent care our mother received. To those who prefer, Memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Crowe to "We Love Our Church," Oak Street Baptist Church, 804 Oak Street, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37643.

    June Houston, 94, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 16, 2016.
    A native of Butler, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late James Maynard Gentry and Gusta Leigh Stout.
    In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sidney Houston, and his children, Ladeau, Grady and Larry; previous husbands, Fred Riddle and James Cross; and a precious great-granddaughter, Heather Marie Row.
    Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Gladys and husband Bert Plummer of Elizabethton, and Ruth Ann and husband David Peters of Elizabethton; four grandchildren, Roland Eugene Blankenship of Elizabethton, Veronica Ann and husband Timothy Osborne of Erwin, Joyce Davena and Ray Smith of Albuquerque, N.M., and Jennifer Ann Treadway of Evington, Va.; five great-grandchildren, Stephanie and husband Adam Baumgartner of Knoxville, Tenn., Michael Row of Seminole, Texas, Jordan Kelly Rapert of Clyde, N.C., AmberLee Row of Albuquerque, N.M., and Bethany Nicole Rapert of Erwin, Tenn.; and one great-great-granddaughter, Natalie Claire Baumgartner of Knoxville, Tenn. June loved the entire Houston family as her own.
    Graveside services for June Houston will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 23, in the Houston Family Cemetery, Watauga, with the Rev. Dennis Wilson officiating.
