    JAMES H. COLE FUNERAL TODAY AT HIS HOME
    Funeral services for James Henry Cole, nearly 18 years old, will be held from the residence on the Turkeytown road this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The final rites will be in charge of the Rev. James.
    The Cole youth, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Cole, died at his home Wednesday morning at 11:15. Burial will be made in the Cole Cemetery.
    The boy is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Cole; four sisters, Opal, Silver, Helen and Alder; four brothers, Jessie, Massie, Fred and Williams; three half sisters, Hattie, Della Mae and Mrs. Lucy Heaton; and one half brother, Roy Cole.

    Matilda Opal Ledford, 87, 1235 Hillside Drive, Elizabethton, beloved by her family and friends, went home to be with her Lord, on Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Ledford was born in Carter County on August 6, 1919 and was the daughter of the late Dan and Mary Robinson Cole. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Wade Ledford on August 13, 1970.

    Mrs. Ledford was a former employee of Bemberg Corporation, was a homemaker and a wonderful mother. She loved to quilt, can and take care of her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She was of the Baptist faith.

    Mrs. Ledford is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Rose B. Ledford of the home; Mary Lee and Garfield Williams, Elizabethton; Sue Combs, Roan Mountain, TN; Ruth and Mack Elliott, Elizabethton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wade and Shirley Ledford, Elizabethton; Dayton and Brenda Ledford, Spindale, NC; three sisters, four brothers, ten grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and a very special friend, Mrs. Virgie Hardin, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

    The Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Ledford will be conducted at 7:30 PM, Thursday, February 22, 2007 in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with the Rev. Ronnie Edwards officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Howard Holsclaw, Jr. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 23, 2007 in the Cole Cemetery, Lacy Hollow.

    Edna Joe Cole, 18-months-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Cole, died at her home in the eighth district this morning at 12:15. Funeral services will be held at the home Friday morning at ten o'clock and will be conducted by the Rev. J. J. Musick. Interment will be made in the Cole Cemetery.
    The baby is survived by her parents and six brothers, Henry, Jessie, Roy, Massie, Hobert, and Fred; and four sisters, Opal, Silver, Helen and Alta; and three half-sisters, Della Mae, Hattie, and Mrs. Lucy Heaton.

    Rondall H. Heaton, Sr., 82, Watauga passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 at his home.

    A native of Carter County, Rondall was the son of the late Samuel and Lucy Heaton. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren. Mr. Heaton proudly served his country in the United Stated Army. He was a Mason and a Shriner. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and eating.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Heaton and Stu Heaton and two sisters, Wanda Hinkle and Nina Vest.

    The family extends a special thank you to Johnson City Medical Center Hospice for the loving care given to Rondall.

    The family requests the honor of your presence for a Graveside Service for Mr. Heaton on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 2:30 PM at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home. Pastor Dan Case will conduct the service. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery at 2:20 PM. Active pallbearers will be Rondall H. Heaton Jr., William Brian Heaton, Christopher J. Heaton, Ivan L.     Nina Loretta Heaton Vest, 71, Elizabethton passed away Sunday, May 5, 2013 in the Bristol Regional Hospital. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Lucy Cole Heaton. She was a graduate of Elizabethton High School. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband, Howard Jenair Vest, a son: Jeffery Wayne Vest and a daughter: Tonya Ann Vest. She was a member of the Watauga Christian Church.

    Survivors include a daughter & son-in-law: Kimberly Korchman and her husband Steve Korchman, Sr., Elizabethton. Two Sons: Jackie Lynn Vest of the home and Daniel Howard Vest and wife Tammy of New York. Three Grandchildren: Jennifer Nicole Campbell and her husband Charles, Steven k. Korchman, Jr. and Joshua U.G. Vest. Two Great Grandchildren: Jude Campbell and Moriah Campbell. One Brother: Rondal Heaton, Watauga. One Sister: Edith Dooley, Elizabethton. Several Nieces & Nephews including a special niece: Wendy Dooley and a special Nephew: Jamie Heaton.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Paul Peer, Minister officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2013 in the Cole Cemetery. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Thursday will be: John Dooley, Jr., Steven Heaton, Rusty Slagle, Jamie Heaton, Todd Godsey and Tony Slagle. She was born January 2, 1946, in Elizabethton to the late William Samuel and Lucy Ann Cole Heaton. She was retired due to disability as a CNA from Signature Health. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: John Dooley, four brothers and two sisters.
    Survivors include her children: Steve Heaton, Tina Christie, John Dooley, Jr., Lucy Dooley, and Wendy Dooley. Five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Several nieces & nephews.
    It was her wish to be cremated and no services are planned at this time.

    ELIZABETHTON - Mary E. O’Quinn, 80, Elizabethton was reunited with her husband on Sunday, June 20, 2021. She was born in Elizabethton to the late Della Mae Cole Carroll & Denton Carroll. Mary dedicated her life to her children & grandchildren. She enjoyed serving others through her Child Care Center and working at East River Park Christian Church in the Pre-School and Nursery Department. Her favorite past time was reading and spending time with family, whom she loved fiercely. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Herman O’Quinn.

    Her legacy lives on through her children: Kim (Tom) Fowler, Tammy (Kenny) Hardin, Judy (John) Fletcher and Danny (Holli) O’Quinn. Her Grandchildren: Korey Hardin, Lacee (Austin) Reed, Cassi Fletcher, Marcus Fowler, Michael (Lily) Fowler, Lindsey (Taylor) LaFever, Patrick O’Quinn, Dawson O’Quinn, Madeline O’Quinn and Emma O’Quinn. Her Great Granddaughter: Kate Reed. Her Brother: James C. Carroll. Her Sisters: Jewel Oliver, Lois (Jim) Starnes and Brenda (Shirley) Bowers. Several nieces & nephews.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2021 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Gerald Holly Minister officiating. Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park.     Miss Rosie Beatrice Ledford, 75, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 28, 2019, from Signature Healthcare Center of Elizabethton. Rosie was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Homer Wade Ledford and Opal Cole Ledford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Dayton Douglas Ledford and Wilford Wade Ledford, and a brother-in-law, Mack Elliott.
    Rosie graduated from ETSU and obtained her Master's Degree in Virginia. She retired as an educator, having taught school in Virginia, Kentucky and Florida. She was voted best language arts teacher when she taught in the Virginia School System. She was also a certified meteorologist.
    Rosie loved children and was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed gardening, playing with children, especially her nieces and nephews, painting and cooking. Rosie also loved animals and liked to listen to folk music and making soap.
    Those left to cherish her memory include three sisters, Mary Lee Williams and husband Garfield Williams of Elizabethton, Ellen Sue Combs of Roan Mountain and Helen Ruth Elliott of Elizabethton, and two sisters-in-law, Brenda Kay Ledford of Rutherfordton, N.C., and Shirley Ann Ledford of Elizabethton. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
    A service to celebrate the life of Miss Rosie Beatrice Ledford will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 2, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Ronnie Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 1 until 2 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. The graveside service will follow in the Cole Cemetery, Lacy Hollow Road, Elizabethton, Tenn. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to especially thank the staff and management of Signature Healthcare of Elizabethton for the loving care given to Miss Ledford during her illness.

    ELIZABETHTON - John Daniel Ledford, 70, of Elizabethton, died Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at his home.

    John was born in Elizabethton, the son of the late Walley Clyde and Sylvia Cole Ledford.

    John worked for North American Rayon Corp. for 27 years before his retirement. He was also a housepainter and an avid fisherman.

    In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Ledford; nephew, Matt Ledford; and two infant sisters.

    Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Deborah Ledford, and her two children, Michael George Archer and wife Angela, of Jonesborough, and Rebecca Groves and her fiancé Casey Honeycutt, of Asheville, NC; two brothers, Clyde "Pete" Ledford and his wife Leona and Lonnie Gene Ledford and his wife Becky, all of Elizabethton; nephews, David, Michael, and Daniel Ledford; grandsons, William Fox, Shannon Fox, and Timothy Fox II; great grandson Bentley Morgan Fox; many other beloved family members; and his favorite pet and constant companion, Scooter.

    In accordance with John's wishes, there will not be any services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to First Christian Church of Elizabethton, 513 Hattie Ave., Elizabethton, TN 37643.

    The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. James Shipley and nurse Jamie, Sycamore Shoals Hospital and in-home care staff, and Mediserve Medical Equipment. A very special thank you goes to Mountain States Hospice staff and nurses for their exceptional compassion and care.
