    Rev. Russell Millard Potter, 91, Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord Saturday, December 8, 2012, in the Ivy Hall Nursing Home.

    Born March 31, 1921, in Carter County, Tennessee, he was a son of the late William Millard and Pearl Bunton Potter. He was preceded in death by his wife: Hazel Trivette Potter; his father-in-law: Linzy Trivette; a daughter-in-law: Linda McKeehan Potter; Three sisters: Velta Potter, Donnis Hicks, Danford Bowman; and four brothers: Kyle, Bernard, Clay and Ree Potter.

    He was a member of the Meadowview Baptist Church. Rev. Potter gave his life to Christ at a young age and joined his family's home church, Meadowview Baptist Church in Buntontown, Tn. In 1942, at the age of 21 he was ordained into the Baptist Ministry at Elk River Baptist Church.

    His ministry spanned for 70 years until his death on December 8, 2012, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home. Ivy Hall was a place that was dear to his heart, having ministered there for 51 years, as well as Hillview, Hermitage and Life Care Center of Elizabethton.

    Rev. Potter had pastored several churches in the area, his first church, Dividing Ridge Baptist Church, Walnut Mountain Baptist Church, Dyson Grove Baptist Church, Fish Springs Baptist Church, Walnut Grove Baptist Church, Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and at his death was pastor and founder of Long Hollow Baptist Church.

    Rev. Potter conducted the "Old Time Gospel Hour," his radio Ministry of more than 40 years which was heard on WBEJ, WIDD, Pan American Broadcast in Africa and Currently on WZAP in Bristol.

    He was educated at Elk Mills High School, Watauga Academy and East Tennessee State College. He taught school in the Johnson and Carter County School Systems. He was owner of Potter and Potter Evergreen Co. and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.

    Survivors include a son: Aaron M. Potter; and Two Daughters: Janet Peters and husband, Ed, Lavonia Austin and husband, Raymond; Two Granddaughters: Mariana Robinson and husband, David, and Wendy Gifford and husband, Mike; Two Grandsons: Dan Potter, Scott Sams and wife, Kim; Two Great Granddaughters: Kaeli Sams and Brittany Robinson; Two Great Grandsons: Jordan and Triston Gifford; Four Step Great Grandchildren: Haley Gifford, Savanna Blevins, Colby Britt and Steven Austin; Special Cousin: Mable Snavely. Three Sisters-In-Law: Dawn (Jackie) Peters, Rose Mowry and Diane Garland.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2012, in the Meadowview Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Jones, Rev. Mark Potter and Rev. Ray Greene officiating.

    Interment will follow in the Bunton Family Cemetery. Music will be provided by the Meadowview Baptist Church Choir and the Pilgrims Journey. Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the church at 1:50 p.m. Tuesday, will be: Scott Sams, David Robinson, Dale Potter, Mike Potter, Ed Peters, David Sneyd, Mike Gifford, Jordan Gifford and Jackie Peters.     Notes:

    David Ronnie Bowman, Sr., age 75, of Jonesborough, TN, went home to be with his Lord, Sunday, January 27, 2013 after a brief illness at the Johnson City Medical Center.

    He was the son of the late Dana and Danford Potter Bowman, and attended Jonesborough High School and graduated in 1955. He was a member of Sinking Creek Baptist Church.

    Mr. Bowman served in the United States Army 29th Infantry at Fort Benning, Georgia from 1960-62. He worked in the bindery trade for many years before going to work for the United States Treasury where he retired after 18 years. Mr. Bowman loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Herrmann Argenbright.

    Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Jo Ann Godfrey Bowman; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Kim Bowman, Harwood, MD; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Barry Taylor, Edgewater, MD; a daughter and son-in-law Kim and Bill Lee, Shady Side, MD; a son and daughter-in-law Bryan and Christie Bowman, Edgewater, MD; a daughter and son-in-law, Nikki and Ken Rose, Craigsville, WV; one brother and five sisters, William Bowman, Sr. and Christine Lowe, Johnson City, Cara Moss (James), Harriman, Sue Rowland (David), Jonesborough; Jayne Brogdon (John Trivett), Elizabethton; a brother-in-law, James C. Godfrey, Johnson City; Eleven Grandchildren, Three Step-grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one step-great grandchild; thirteen nieces and nephews and a special friend Carroll Buck, Johnson City.

    The funeral service for Mr. Bowman will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Sinking Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Keith Weatherly officiating.

    The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 30, from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Appalachian Funeral Home, and Thursday, January 31 from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. at Sinking Creek Baptist Church. The graveside service and interment will follow at Urbana Cemetery, Limestone, TN with military honors being presented by the Boone Dam V.F.W and members of the Army National Guard. Active pallbearers will be Joey Taylor, Matthew Taylor, Paul Keysar, Ken Rose, Brett Bowman, Bill Lee, and Carroll Buck and Barry Taylor.

    Aaron M Potter, beloved Father and Grandfather went to be with his lord and savior Friday April 12 following a year long fight with cancer.

    Aaron was born August 27th 1945 the son of the late Reverend Russell Potter and Hazel Trivette Potter. He was the grandson of Linzie and Sarah Trivette and Millard and Pearl Potter. Aaron was a graduate of Hampton High School class of 1964. He is the husband of the late Linda Mckeehan Potter. He owned and operated D and A Motors for 39 years and worked at Nickels Performance Speedshop for several years. Aaron was also an active deacon at Long Hollow Baptist Church in Valley Forge where after each service brought tootsie roll candy to the children of the congregation.

    Survivors include one son Dan Potter, a daughter Wendy Overman, son in law Tim Overman, 4 grandchildren who loved him very much, Jordan, Aaron Tristan, and Emma Overman as well as a step granddaughter Haley Glover. He is also survived by his sister Lavonia Austin, brother in law Ed Peters, father and Mother in Law Bud and Loretta Mckeehan ,niece Marina Robinson(husband David) and their daughter Brittany, nephew Scott Sams (wife Kim) and daughters Kaeli, Savanna, son Colbie. Niece Ashlee Mckeehan and Daughter Aubree, he also survived by several great nieces and nephews. And a host of cousins.

    He is also survived by his girlfriend Mary Brickey of Johnson City. Two very close classmates Tip Smith and Glenn Cates, and very close friends Tony and Linda Bowers who helped throughout his illness.

    In addition to his parents and wife he is also preceded in death by his younger sister Janet Potter Peters and brother in law Raymond V. Austin.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2019 in the Meadow View Baptist Church, Butler with the Rev. Ray Greene, Rev. Ken Houser and Rev. Charlie Trivette officiating. Interment will follow in the Buntontown Cemetery. Music will be provided by the Sounds of Victory, Everette & Cleta Garland and his daughter Wendy Overman. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thurday in the funeral home..
