    Notes:

    ROAN MOUNTAIN - Ralph H. Winters, 86, of Roan Mountain, went home to be with the Lord, on Friday,July 14, 2017, at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital.

    Mr. Winters was the son of the late Clyde Edward Winters and Reatha Dugger Winters Jones and was born in Banner Elk, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred Winters and Arthur Winters and a sister, Judy Nidiffer.

    Mr. Winters was a member of Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church. He loved the outdoors, farming and working in the garden.

    Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of sixty-eight years, Betty Smith Winters, of the home; a son, Roger Dale Winters, Roan Mountain; a daughter, Kathy Diane Osborne and husband, Rick, Elizabethton; a grandson, Allen W. Osborne, Johnson City; a great-grandson, Tyler W. Colbaugh, Johnson City; four sisters, Edith Arrington, Goldie Jones, Dimple Varney and husband, Larry; and Elizabeth Davis and husband, Lock. Numerous nieces, nephews, special relatives, friends and his church family also survive.

    A service to honor the life of Mr. Winters will be conducted on Sunday, July16, 2017, at 4:00 PM in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, with Pastor John McCoury and Rev. John Stevens officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 2:00 – 4:00 PM Sunday prior to the service.

    Interment will follow the funeral service in the Johnson-Roanview Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

    Ralph married Betty Grace Smith about 1950 in , Avery County, North Carolina, . Betty (daughter of Walter Keener Smith and Amanda L. Lewis) was born on 27 Apr 1931 in , Carter County, Tennessee, ; died on 14 Nov 2022 in , Washington County, Tennessee, ; was buried in Johnson Roan View Cemetery, Carter County, Tennessee, .     ROAN MOUNTAIN - Roger Dale “Murph” Winters, age 71, of Roan Mountain, TN passed away Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Hillview Health Center. He was born in Banner Elk, NC to the late Ralph Winters. Roger was employed with Snap On Tools for over 34 years and a member of Fountain of Life Church. He enjoyed motorcycles and spending time with his family. Mr. Winters was a 1968 graduate of Cloudland High School. He played football and baseball at Cloudland. He was an all Watauga conference center for the 1967 Cloudland football team. He played football at Lees-McRae college for one year. He also enjoyed playing softball and he traveled a lot on his motorcycle.

    Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Betty Grace Smith Winters; sister, Kathy Osborne and husband Rick; nephew, Allen Osborne and wife LaDonna and great nephew, Tyler Colbaugh, and special friends, Judy and Meadow.

    A graveside service for friends and family to celebrate the life of Roger Dale “Murph” Winters will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 in the Johnson Roan View Cemetery, Roan Mountain with Dr. Vic Young officiating. Music will be under the direction of Charlotte Smith.
