    ELIZABETHTON - Iva Lee Banks Malone, 84, Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2019 at her residence.

    A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Walter Banks, Sr. & Bunia Blevins Banks. She was home health nurse. Iva Lee enjoyed working in her flowers, her dogs Charlie & Molly and loved to travel. She was a member of Rittertown Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband: Luther Caldwell, her second husband: Gleason Malone, Sr., her son: Gleason Malone, Jr., two sisters: Jeanette Webb and Georgia Phillips and two brothers: Jay Banks and Harvey Banks.

    Survivors include her son & daughter-in-law: Ronnie & Judy Caldwell. Three Grandchildren: Bridgett Caldwell Simpson, Jackie Caldwell and David Church. Five Great Grandchildren and One Great Great Grandson. Two Brothers: Nelse Banks & Wife Trudy and Walter Banks, Jr.. Four Sisters: Bonnie Bowman, Jenny Wiseman, Beatrice Holtsclaw and Maybelle Birchfield. Several nieces & nephews.

    Graveside Service will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2019 in the Rittertown Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Smitley officiating. Burial will follow the service. Active Pallbearers will be: E.J. Blevins, Terry Blevins, Robert Blevins, Dexter Perkins, Shane Kimley and Kenny Childress. The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to E.J. Blevins, Oscar Thompson, Janie Guinn, Nancy Herman and members of the Lynn Valley Baptist Church for all their support and prayers.

    Virginia Ruby Grindstaff, 82, of Elizabethton, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Virginia was born in Unicoi, Tenn., to the late Robert and Hazel Davis Banks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Grindstaff, and four sons, Larry Grindstaff, Perry Grindstaff, Randy Grindstaff and James Grindstaff.
    Virginia retired from North American Rayon Corporation and loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
    Those left to cherish her memory include one son, Billy Joe Grindstaff; seven grandchildren, Anthony Grindstaff, Jason Grindstaff and wife Melissa, April Grindstaff, John Grindstaff, Kristen Grindstaff, Dusty Grindstaff and Michael Grindstaff; several great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ron Crowe.
    A service to celebrate the life of Virginia Ruby Grindstaff will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 4, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 1 until 2 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service. The committal and entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

    JOHNSON CITY - Mary Lee “Tweed/Barnette” Campbell, age 79, Johnson City, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday July 13, 2021, at her residence with family by her side. She was a native of Lex, West Virginia and the daughter of the late Glen E. Tweed and Oda Kate Grindstaff. Mary worked in textile, banking and property management occupations before retiring.

    In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Gary Campbell, her stepfather, Marsh Miller, sister, Katie Wallace and brothers, Charles and Mickey Grindstaff.

    Survivors include her daughter, Diana Petty and husband Ray of Johnson City; sons, Charles Barnette, Jonathan Barnette and wife Mary of Jonesborough, Stephen Barnette of Johnson City; sisters, Bea Boswell and husband Don of Scottsburg, IN, Linda Chandler and husband Tony of Watauga; a brother Larry “Bo” Grindstaff and wife Evy of Johnson City; 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Kitty was a long-time resident of Albuquerque and Belen. Kitty was preceded in death by her son, Larry Davis; father, Glen Tweed; mother, Oda Kate Grindstaff; long-time companion, Sonja Jean Jones; younger brother, Mickey Grindstaff; sister-in-law, Theresa Grindstaff; and brother-in-law, Gary Campbell. Kitty is survived by three sisters, Bea Boswell and her husband, Don of Scottsburg, Indiana, MaryLee Campbell of Federal Way, Washington and Linda Sue Chandler and her husband, Tony of Watauga, Tennessee; two brothers, Charles Grindstaff and his wife, Wilma and Larry "Bo" Grindstaff all of Johnson City, Tennessee; seven children in her extended family; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. All Services will be held at Romero Funeral Home Chapel beginning with a Public Viewing on Friday, April 20th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Final Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with a Funeral Service to follow at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Terrace Grove Cemetery.

    JOHNSON CITY - Betty Jean Casteel Miller, 80, of Johnson City passed away on October 28, 2017 at the Johnson City Medical Center.

    A native of Washington County, she is the daughter of the late Elbert and Eliza Lyons Casteel. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Edward Miller; son, Roger Sells Miller; and sisters, Margie Fry and Christine Owen.

    Betty was of the Free Will Baptist faith and is described by loved ones as energetic and feisty. She was a loving, strong woman who loved cooking, spending time with her family, and loving on her dog, Kilbee.

    Those left to cherish Betty's memory include: son, Ricky Edward Miller of Johnson City; brothers, Frank Casteel, Jr., Cecil Casteel, Gilbert Casteel, Joe Casteel, David Casteel, Wayne Casteel, and R.Y. Casteel; sisters, Francis Jones and Barbara Jones; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and special friend, James Rowe.

    The family would like to extend a special thank you to all friends and family and the 6300 floor of the JCMC.

    The family will receive friends to share memories on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 4:00 PM until a celebration of Betty's Life beginning at 7:00 PM in the sunrise chapel of Tetrick Funeral and Cremation Services, Johnson City, with Reverend Tony Trott officiating. An entombment will be held in the mausoleum at Washington County Memory Gardens, Johnson City on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 1:00 PM. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 PM. Brian Harrison, Aaron Billings, Sam Harrison, Jason Miller, Bobby Tester, and Shawn Jenkins will serve as pallbearers. Gage Whitaker will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
