    Notes:

    Rev. Evin Hopson, 90, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, from his residence. A native of Avery County, N.C., he was a son of the late Linney and Della Grindstaff Hopson.
    Mr. Hopson was a minister and a member of Zion Baptist Church. He had been a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church most of his life.
    Mr. Hopson enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, preaching the gospel and spending time with his great-great-granddaughter, Adlynn.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Hildred McKinney Hopson; a daughter, Elayna Townsend; and several sisters and brothers.
    Those left to cherish his memory include six children, Danny Hopson and wife Betty, Newland, N.C., Gail Hughes and husband Danny, Elizabethton, Vickie Hughes and husband Delbert, Newland, N.C., Cathy Sargent and husband Wes, Elizabethton, Lorana Greene and husband Steve, Roan Mountain, and D.L. Hopson and wife Tammy, Elizabethton; a brother, Ham Hopson, and two sisters, Molly Sluder and Josie Hughes, all of Newland, N.C. Sixteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren also survive.
    A service to honor the life of Rev. Evin Hopson will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at Zion Baptist Church with Dr. Alan King and Pastor Allen Laws officiating. Music will be under the direction of the church choir. The family will receive friends at the church from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service, or at the residence at other times. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 5, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Danny Hopson, D.L. Hopson, Randy Guinn, Wes Sargent, Jody Presnell and Randy Daniels.

    Notes:

    Perry Hopson, 59, of the Roaring Creek Community, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at his home.

    He was a son of Delpha Hughes Hopson of Roaring Creek and the late Rothrock Hopson. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Paulette Hughes. He loved restoring old cars, carp fishing, but mostly he loved his family.

    Surviving in addition to his mother are his loving wife of 35 years, Teresa Webb Hopson; daughter, Angel Dugger and husband, Andrew, of Licklog; sons, Chad Hopson and wife, Kristen, of Roaring Creek, and John Hopson and wife, Julie, of Roaring Creek; three grandchildren, Austin and Aaron Dugger and Savannah Hopson; sisters, Brickie Pittman and husband, Joe, of Spruce Pine and Nadine Helton and husband, Jerry, of Roaring Creek. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in The People's Church on Roaring Creek. The Rev. Daniel Nance, the Rev. Chris Nance and the Rev. Jody Almond officiated. Burial followed in the Hopson Family Cemetery. The family received friends from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

    Pallbearers were Derick Hughes, Gabriel Wise, Joel Buchanan, Hansel Allen, Johnathan Hughes, Ray Howell and Shelton Brooks. Honorary Pallbearers were Aaron and Austin Dugger.
