    JOHNSON CITY - Dr. Paul D. Renfro, 85, Johnson City, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2020, at Johnson City Medical Center.

    Paul was born in Elizabethton to the late David and Gladys Street Renfro.

    Paul practiced Pharmacy for 50 years. He started three local businesses: Corner Drug, West Towne Pharmacy and Princeton Drug. He was a Specialist 5th Class US Army veteran, having served from 1953-1956, during the Korean conflict. Paul was an avid Cardinals baseball fan, mainly because he was named after Paul Dean, the pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals the year they won the World Series, in 1934, the day Paul was born. He was a member of The Gideons International, First District Pharmaceutical Association and Tennessee Pharmaceutical Association. He was a past member of Pinecrest Baptist Church and a present member of Grace Baptist Church, where he was a choir director for many years.

    In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by: his wife of 59 years, Helen Jean Renfro, in 2015; and one brother-in-law, Jerome Christian.

    Survivors include: two sons, Larry S. Renfro and his wife Sherri and Lee Scott Renfro and his wife Martha; four granddaughters, Hannah Moore and her husband Nick, Sarah Renfro, Megan Renfro and Alyson Renfro; two brothers, David Lee Renfro, Jr. and his wife Janice and Richard "Dickie" Renfro and his wife Sheila; two sisters, Jane Christian and Janet Grant and her husband Robert; and several nieces.

    The family would like to sincerely thank Joyce Gillette for the care she provided to Paul for the last few years.

    The family of Paul Renfro will receive friends from 11 AM until 12 PM Saturday, January 4, 2020, at Morris-Baker. The funeral will follow at 12 PM with Pastor Hobbie McCreary officiating. Pallbearers include: Paul Rose, Neal Whitten, Nick Moore, Jacob Richards, Allen Richards, Michael Griesen, Micaiah Griesen and Dustin Miller. Honorary pallbearers include: Jim Baker, Monty Brown, Bryan Sexton, Clint Donegan, Mark Reed, Doug Long, Chester Blankenship, Bob Roller, Earl Maden and Earl Gouge. The committal service will follow at 1:30 PM. Family and friends are asked to assemble at Roselawn Memory Gardens by 1:25 PM.

    David married Gladys Street about 1933 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. Gladys (daughter of George W. Street and Maggie (Street)) was born on 26 Dec 1912 in Mitchell County, , , North Carolina; died in Jul 1984 in Washintgon County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Happy Valley Memorial Park, , Carter County, Tennessee.
