    William Bruce Peters, 74, of Rt. 3, Butler, died Wednesday, 7:45 p.m., in Johnson City Memorial Hospital, after an illness of three months. He was a native of Johnson County, a retired farmer, the son of the late Robert and Laura Harold Peters. He was a member of the Little Doe Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Iva Lee Reed Peters, Butler; three sons, Wayne and Bob, both of Johnson City, and Carl, Butler; four daughters, Miss Rosa Peters, of the home, Mrs. Ada Chambers, Elizabethton, Mrs. Dessie McCarthy, Coeburn, Va., and Mrs. Bonnie Reynolds, Wilmington, Del.; five brothers, Clyde, Willard, Hubert and Jim, all of Johnson City, and Dana, Lenoir, N. C.; one sister, Mrs. Hazel Byers, Johnson City; 26 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, 2 p.m., from the Little Doe Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Biggar and Rev. Gene Osborne officiating. Burial was in the Sinks Valley Cemetery. Pall-bearers[sic] were friends and neighbors. Flower-bearers were ladies of church and neighbors. Lewis Gentry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

    William married Edna Ivalee Reed about 1920 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee. Edna (daughter of William A. Reed and Margaret Moody) was born about 1895 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; died about 1976 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Sink Valley Cemetery, , Johnson County, Tennessee.     ELIZABETHTON — Wayne Hobert Peters, 92, 1219 Broad Street, Elizabethton was promoted to Glory Sunday, January 27, 2013 at the Ivy Hall Nursing Home.

    A native of Johnson County, he was a son of the late Bruce and Iva Lee Reed Peters. He had lived most of his life in Carter County. He had served in the United States Navy During World War II stationed in the Pacific. He was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation having worked there for over 30 years. He was of the Free Will Baptist Faith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife: RuthaMae Slemp Peters, March 6, 1986, by an infant daughter Waynetta Ivajo Peters, four sisters: Bonnie Reynolds, Ada Chambers, Rosa Peters and Dessie McCarty and two brothers: Carl and Bob Peters.

    Mr. Peters loved to farm and do carpentry work.

    Survivors include Two Daughters: Judy Heaton and husband Ronnie, Elizabethton and Vicky Peters, Clam Gulch, Alaska. A Son: Gary Peters, Elizabethton. 8 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren. Several Nieces & Nephews.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Randy Johnson and Rev. Mark Potter officiating.

    Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2013 in Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Nathan Jennings officiating. Music will be provided by Loren Harris. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday will be: Darrell Byrd, Jason Peters, Jamie Heaton, Keith Kennedy, Billy Winters, Dustin Winters and Devin Peters.

    The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to Dr. Jonathan Bremer, The Team Members of Ivy Hall Nursing Home and Caris Hospice. Military Honors will be provided by The American Legion.

    The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of a daughter & son-in-law: Judy and Ronnie Heaton, 1219 Broad Street, Elizabethton.
