Ford Miller, age 91, of Roan Mountain, passed away at the Johnson City Medical Center on Thursday, August 6, 2015, after an extended illness. Ford was born in Roan Mountain, a son of the late Edgar Miller and Bertha Twiggs Miller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; and five sisters. He retired from North American Rayon in 1989. He loved to hunt and work in his garden. He was a lifetime member of the Roan Mountain Holiness Church and was a United States Army veteran, having served in World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years Juanita Heaton Miller; one son, Roger Miller and one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Randy Caraway, all of Roan Mountain; three grandchildren, Mark Miller of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Courtney and Frist Class Petty Officer Jeremy Clipse YN1, USCG, of Titusville, Florida and Matthew and Roseanne Caraway of Roan Mountain, Tennessee. The love of his life was his great grandchildren, Arielle Clipse, Lucas Clipse and Neyland Caraway.
He is also survived by one brother and sister-in-law, William, Jr. and Helen Miller, of Johnson City, Tennessee; two sisters-in-law, Barbara McCurry and Pat Winters; special nieces and nephews, Judy Potter, Jean Bayne and Linda Fike, Wayne Miller and R.L. Miller and several other special nieces and nephews; his close friends, Reverend Delaney Berry and Charles Jones; his church family and many friends and neighbors.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Mr. Ford Miller will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Sunday, August 9, 2015 in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain with Rev. Gene Honeycutt and Rev. Delaney Berry, officiating. Music will be provided by Jeannie Honeycutt and Roseanne Caraway. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Sunday; or at the residence at any time.
The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 10, 2015 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Matthew Caraway, Mark Miller, Jack Heaton, Rick Heaton, Duane Potter, and Keith Stout. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Clipse, Garry Heaton, William McCloud, Robert Fike, Basil Wolfe, Mike Wolfe, and Kenneth Julian.

Carver) was born on 22 Nov 1926 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; died on 23 Aug 2019 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Happy Valley Memorial Park, , Carter County, Tennessee. William E. Miller Jr., age 89, of Johnson City, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at his home of natural causes. Jr. was born in Roan Mountain, a son of the late Edgar and Bertha Twiggs. In addition to his parents, Mr. Miller was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 5 sisters.

Vickie R. Hughes, 71, of Roan Mountain, Tenn., went home to be with her Lord and her daughter Tiffany, on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Vickie was born in Banner Elk, N.C., to the late Ivan and Lucy Heaton Miller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Tiffany Holdren, and a sister, Bobbie McKinney.
Vickie was a cook and was of the Free Will Baptist faith. She liked to watch westerns, reading and loved her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter, Tabby Hampton of Roan Mountain; four granddaughters, Payton Johnson, Madelyn Johnson and Madison Johnson, all of Roan Mountain, and their father Johnny, and Chloe Holdren and her father John of Newland; and two sisters, Donna Gray and husband Perry of Roan Mountain and Diana Marshall of Morristown. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service to celebrate the life of Vickie R. Hughes will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, February 18, in the Miller Cemetery in Roan Mountain, Tenn., with Rev. Randy English officiating. Mr. Aaron Gray will provide a eulogy. Special singing will be provided at the graveside. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:45 p.m. Monday. The family would like to especially thank the ICU Staff and Megan Vaught for their excellent care and kindness during this difficult time.
