    Bob R. Vines Sr., 79, of Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017, at his residence after a brief illness.
    A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Dewey and Virtie Stines Vines.
    Bob was a retired automotive mechanic, having been employed at Dixie Battery for 28 years. He was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church. He loved restoring old cars and gardening.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde, Norman and Tony Vines, and a sister, Martha Guinn.
    Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Ann Keller Vines; three children, Bobby Vines Jr. and wife Angie, Elizabethton, Kenny Vines and wife Marta, Lexington, Ky., and Debbie Foster and husband David, Jonesborough; four grandchildren, Derrick, Eric and Andrew Vines and Devin Foster; two brothers, Gilbert Vines and wife Hilda, Elizabethton, and Danny Vines and wife Angela, Jonesborough; a sister, Vickie Snyder and husband Danny, Gray; several nieces and nephews; and his fur baby, Artie.
    Funeral services for Bob R. Vines Sr. will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 5, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Chris Shumate officiating. The entombment service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Jackie Cole officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be his church family and Harold Hicks. The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the staff of Avalon Hospice, Dr. Elizabeth Defluiter and her staff, and the staff of ICU, Sycamore Shoals Hospital.

    CLYDE LEE VINES
    Clyde Lee Vines, age 1 year, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Vines, Route 3, Butler, died in Appalachian Hospital, Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock after an illness of 1 month.
    Survivors are the parents; 2 brothers, Bobby and Norman Vines of Route 3, Butler; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Jennie Vines, Oak Grove; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Stines, Beech Creek, N. C.
    Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock from the Poga Christian Church with the Rev. Reece in charge.
    Burial will be made in the Poga Cemetery.
    Active pallbearers and flower bearers will be selected from friends at the service.
    The body will remain in the Roy Hathaway Funeral Home Chapel.

    Notes:

    Toney Mack Vines, 67, of Hampton, went home to be with the Lord following an extended illness on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at Hermitage Health Center. He was a son of the late Dewey Vines and Virtie Stines Whaley and was born in Carter County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Ann Green Vines; a great-grandson, Grayson Anderson; two brothers and one sister.
    Toney worked at North American Rayon Corporation over 30 years and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He enjoyed singing and watching his grandsons play basketball.
    Those left to cherish his memory include one son, Anthony Vines of Johnson City; three daughters, Jeannie Street and husband Tony of Roan Mountain, Kimberly Tucker and husband Jonathan of Johnson City, and Alena Bentley and husband James of Hampton; three brothers, Danny Vines of Jonesborough, Bob Vines and Gilbert Vines, both of Elizabethton; one sister, Vicki Snyder of Johnson City; his girlfriend, Joan Ramsey of Elizabethton; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
    A service to honor the life of Toney Mack Vines will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor James Richardson officiating. The family will receive friends in the chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the funeral service, and at the home of a daughter, Kimberly Tucker. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Jonathan Tucker, Tony Street, James Bentley, Tyler Street, Jordan Bentley, Bob Vines, Danny Vines and Gilbert Vines. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Carden, Scott Carden, Austin Bentley and Chris Bentley
