    Notes:

    Golda Jordan Walsh, 95, of Kingsport, died----- September 13 after a brief hospital stay.

    She was born on July 23, 1917, to the late James Willis and Vada Ann Robinson Jordan.

    In addition to her parents, Golda was preceded in death by her husband, Arvel Parks Walsh, who passed away in 2008; sisters, Helen Collins and Marguritte Lowe; brothers, Ray Denver Jordan, Willis Jordan Jr., James Earl Jordan, Samuel "SD" Jordan and Russell Jordan.

    Golda retired twice from the bindery of the Kingsport Press — once in 1954 to start a family and again in 1986.

    Golda was a native of Johnson County, TN, and a graduate of Johnson County High School. She worked for the Chicago Chemical Warfare Procurement District in various locations in Ohio and was a graduate of the Lincoln Nurses Institute and a Red Cross Volunteer Nurses' Aid during World War II.

    She was certified, in 1945, as an airman by the Civil Aeronautics Administration to pilot a Piper Cub.

    Golda was a member of Ketron Memorial United Methodist Church, Kingsport, TN, and previously a member of Doe Valley Methodist Church, Mountain City, TN.

    Golda is survived two daughters, Carolyn Walsh Carter and her husband, Milton, of Unicoi, TN, Marilyn Walsh Lewis and her husband, Rick, of Louisville, KY; a sister, Imogene Millsaps and husband, Raymond, of Elizabethton; two grandchildren, Justin Lewis and wife, Meagan, of Palatine, IL, and Emily Lewis, of Danville, VA; special friend and neighbor, Clara Smith; Wednesday lunch buddy, Peggy Walsh; and faithful companion, Taco.

    The family wishes to thank Golda's faithful caregivers: Nina Arwood, Diane Bays, Janie Dixon, Carolyn Wampler and Donna Weatherly.

    Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. September 16, at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Mountain City with Dr. Kenneth Jordan officiating.
