    Notes:

    Mary Kate Dugger Arnold, 85, of Butler, TN went home to be with her Lord while surrounded by her loving family and special brother, Frank, on July 27, 2015, at her residence, after a hard fought battle with a lengthy illness.

    She was born on May 30, 1930, in Carter County, TN to the late Ed Dugger and Dorothy Pierce Dugger Oliver. She was married to the late J.E. Arnold on June 27, 1947, who was her husband for 36 years.

    Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Michael (Mick) Oliver, Ron Oliver and Bill Dugger.

    Mark Kate is survived by her daughters: Phyllis Arnold Matherly (Mack), DeEtte Arnold Hampton (Herb) both of Butler TN, Burnadene Arnold Blevins (Mark) of Knoxville, TN, Lesa Arnold Brown (Tim) of Laurel Bloomery, TN. Four Grandchildren: Duane Stout, Kevin Hampton, Liza Hampton Sykes and Jenna Brown Rouse, Five Great Grandchildren: Devin, Blade, Gage, Chloe and Carson, and Two Great Great Grandchildren: Ashlynn and Carter. Brothers: Tony Pierce (Ann) of Hampton, Frank Oliver (June) of Elizabethton, Sister Betty Oliver Pritchard (Don) of Butler, one brother-in-law Elwood Arnold of Butler, three sisters-in-law: Mary Arnold of Tucson, AZ, Sue Arnold of Butler, and Corrine Arnold of IN and a host of Nephews and Nieces.

    Mary Kate loved her church and was an active member of Little Doe Baptist Church.

    She was a member of the Beta Theta Women's Club of Johnson County, and she was voted "Mother of the Year" award in 1989 by the Butler Ruritan. She was a hard worker along side her husband on the farm until his death. She then worked at Lakecrest Grill, Pleasant's Store, T & J's Grill and Craig's Coffee House up until the time of her illness. She loved working in her garden and growing beautiful flowers. She was extremely talented when it came to sewing and painting ceramics.

    A Service to celebrate the life of Mary Kate Arnold will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2015, in the Little Doe Baptist Church, Butler with the Rev. Kreg Smith officiating. The eulogy will be given by Betty Brown.

    Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be Becky Arnold, Soloist. Active Pallbearers will be Grandchildren & Sons-In-Law: Honorary Pallbearers will be Her Church family.

    Her family would like to say a special "Thank You" to her caregivers, Dr. Raina Sluder, and friends who helped her through the years.

    The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service. Friends may also visit with the family at her residence.

    Died:
    William Kevin Hampton, lovingly known as “Catbird,” 50, of Butler, TN passed away on January 14, 2022 at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Kevin was currently a teacher in the Johnson County School System where he was also a graduate in 1989.

    Kevin was the proud father of two boys, Blade and Gage Hampton, who he loved watching play sports through the years. Along with spending time with his boys, Kevin loved his time on Watauga Lake where he could be found fishing at any time day or night. He was also an avid University of Tennessee football fan, always wearing the orange and white. Kevin most of all was a big time family man, and he had a great compassion for kids.

    Kevin was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, J.E. and Mary Kate Arnold, his paternal grandmother, Kate Hampton Hicks, and his companion, Bledsoe Jax.

    Kevin is survived by his parents, Herb and DeEtte Hampton; his boys, Blade and Gage Hampton and their mother, Jodi Hampton; his sister, Liza Sykes; his aunts, Phyllis Matherly and husband Mack, Burnadene Blevins and husband Mark, Lesa Brown and husband Tim; and his beloved cousins whom he referred to as “Cuz.” He is also survived by his girlfriend, Krissy Walters and her daughter, Ariel and last but certainly not least, his many special friends who are too numerous to list.

    The family would like to thank everyone for the prayers, concern, and support throughout Kevin’s sickness. A special thank you to Blake Grindstaff for all your help.

    It was Kevin’s wish to be cremated.
