JOHNSON CITY - Ruth Evelyn Calhoun McCue, age 96 of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at her home.

She was a daughter of the late Harvey and Lizzie Gouge Calhoun, born to them on September 27, 1922 in Cranberry, North Carolina. She was a former member of the Grace Baptist Church, a current member at the Heritage Baptist Church, and was privileged to be in Gary Stocton's Sunday school class with many special people.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John McCue and her first husband, Ernest C. Lowe. She is also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Colleen Lowe.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Michael Lowe; Step-Son, Michael McCue (Michelle); Grandchildren: Matt and Megan McCue; Sister, Mary Sexton, and several nieces, nephews and special friends.

Funeral services for Ms. Ruth E. McCue will be conducted on Monday, July 8, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services of Johnson City with Dr. Allen Davis and Dr. Reggie Weems officiating. Burial will follow at the Monte Vista Memorial Park at 2:30 P.M. with family members and friends serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Walters and Gary Stocton.

Joe Allen Hicks, 86, of Newland, North Carolina passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022 at the Watauga Medical Center in Boone, NC.
Joe was born on October 9, 1935 in Avery County, North Carolina, a son of the late Phelix Theodore Hicks and the late Ethel Calhoun Hicks.
Joe graduated Cranberry High School in 1955 and then attended Gaston College, taking mechanics. He retired from Baxter Health Care after a long career. He was a Deacon and member of the Lewis Chapel and enjoyed fishing, hunting and tinkering.
He was preceded in death by his father, Phelix Theodore Hicks; mother, Ethel Hicks; brother, Bill Hicks; and granddaughter, Amy Randolph.

Joe leaves behind to cherish his memory wife of 60 years, Ella Hinkle Hicks; two sons, John (Penny) Hicks of Elk Park, NC, Richard (Karen) Hicks of Cranberry, NC; daughter, Alicia (Wayne) Randolph of Fife, WA; sister, Barbara (Willard) Frazier of Newton, NC; brother, LG Hicks of Spruce Pine, NC; nine grandchildren, Jacob Hicks, Sarah Hicks, Stephanie Norwood, Codie Berry, Laura Randolph, Caleb Randolph, Cameron Randolph, Emily Randolph, Jacob Randolph; and 11 great grandchildren, Gus, Carleigh, Jake, Abel, Leah, Gracie, Mason, Baylee, Mckayla, Landon, Beau.
Services for Joe Allen Hicks will be held on Monday, February 21, 2022 beginning at 12 p.m. from the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Sheppard and the Rev. Gene Carver officiating.

Katheryn Victoria Pritchard, 81, of Avery County, went Home to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 13, 2022 at The Greens in Spruce Pine.

A native of Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Ike and Melba Calhoun Erwin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Pritchard, Sr., who passed away July 4, 1998; son, Danny Pritchard; and brother, Buddy Erwin.

Katheryn attended Big Meadows Missionary Baptist Church for numerous years. She loved going to the beach, cooking, and especially working in her yard.

Left to cherish her memories is her son, Lee Pritchard and wife, Jackie of Old Fort, and special best friend, Jenny Hughes of Roaring Creek. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at Elk Mountain Freewill Baptist Church. Rev. Ryan Bennett will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Pallbearers will be Brian Watson, Tony Jones, Glenn Aldridge, Greg Johnson and Peck Taylor.
