Mrs. Nellie B. DeLoach, 66, died suddenly at her home 508 Siam Pike, Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church.
She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Martha Blackburn of Elizabethton; one daughter, Mrs. Cozette Hinkle of 409 South Main Street; four sisters, Mrs. John Fair and Mrs. Ida DeLoach of Elizabethton; Mrs. Julie Moody of Elk Park, N. C., and Mrs. Ella Turner of Maryville, Tennessee; two brothers, Clifton Blackburn of Elizabethton and Dan H. Blackburn of Maryville, Tennessee; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted from the First Free Will Baptist Church Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Houston Blevins officiating, assisted by the Rev. Clarence Howington. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be nephews, Elmer, Ed and Lester DeLoach, and Jess, Paul and Roy Fair.
The body was moved to the home Monday at 10 a.m. from the chapel of the Tetrick Funeral Home.

Walter C. Blackburn, 53, died in the hospital in Beckely[sic], West Virginia last Tuesday.
He is survived by one son, Sidney Blackburn of Lily Brook, West Virginia; his mother, Mrs. Martha Blackburn of Elizabethton; two brothers, Clift Blackburn of Elizabethton and Don H. Blackburn of Maryville, Tennessee. Five sisters, Mrs. John Fair, Mrs. Nellie DeLoach, Mrs. Ida DeLoach, all of Elizabethton, Mrs. Julie Mooney of Elk Park, N. C. and Mrs. Ellar Turner of Maryville.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Elizabethton Free Will Baptist Church, Friday afternoon at 2:00 with the Rev. Houston Blevins and Rev. Clarence Howington officiating. Burial will be in the Banner Cemetery at Elk Park, N. C.
Active pallbearers will be Estel Riggs, Tom Vance, Charlie Turner, Robert Bowling, Loyd Scalf and Kent Scalf.
The body will be taken to the home of a sister, Mrs. Ida DeLoach, 817 Sixth Street, Elizabethton, where it will remain until time for services.

Edna M. Greene, 86, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at her residence. Edna was born in Carter County to the late Clifton Silas Blackburn and Ada Zella Scalf Blackburn. In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Basil Greene Jr.; a daughter, Tammy Taylor; six sisters; and one brother.
Edna retired from Kennametal and was of the Christian faith. She enjoyed walking, but most especially her children and grandchildren! Edna also enjoyed going to the Covered Bridge Celebration every year.
Those left to cherish and remember Edna include two daughters, Helen Aldrich and Ada Bird (Edward), all of Elizabethton; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Jane Grindstaff (Reverend Carl); and several nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate the life of Edna M. Greene will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 2, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton with Reverend Carl Grindstaff officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 4, in the Glenwood Cemetery in Bristol. Active pallbearers will be her son-in-law and her grandsons.

Audrey Jane Blackburn Grindstaff, 76, Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord, Saturday, March 26, 2022, at her residence following an extended illness. She was born June 27, 1945 in Carter County to the late Silas Clifton and Ada Zella Scalf Blackburn.
Jane loved being around her grandkids, cooking and needlepoint. She was a member of Oak Hill Free Will Baptist Church.
She was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest. She pursued her savior and family with love. She finished well, what a beautiful testimony she left behind.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Jane. She loved a quiet evening with friends and family. She had an uncanny ability to find happiness in her daily activities. Her pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family, and neighborhood children who would gather around the kitchen table for meals and encouragement. Everyone loved listening to Jane’s stories of her beloved years and encouraging words of wisdom that she led by example and her love for Christ. She was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, church and community.
Jane was preceded in death by a son, Carl Eugene Grindstaff, and a great-granddaughter, Maleigha Audrey Blackwell.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Pastor Carl Grindstaff; four children, Angela Stonecipher and husband Johnny, Sheila McKinney and friend Doug Duncan and Jonathan Grindstaff and wife Sharay, all of Elizabethton, and Jenny Townsend and husband Bob, Johnson City; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and several nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Darrell Blackburn.
A Service to Celebrate the Life of Jane Grindstaff will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Paul Grindstaff, Pastor Ed Moser and Pastor Caleb Grindstaff officiating. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 31, in the Oak Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, Hampton. Active pallbearers will be Jonathan Grindstaff, John T. Grindstaff, Logan Grindstaff, Tommy Oliver, Ethan Townsend, D.J. Harris, Robbie Solomin, Nathanael Stonecipher, Andrew Stonecipher, Landon Duncan and Keydon Russell. Honorary pallbearers will be ministers of the Toe River Free Will Baptist Association, her church families at Oak Hill Free Will Baptist Church, East Fairview Free Will Baptist Church, St. John Free Will Baptist Church and other churches she had been associated with during her husband’s ministry.

JAMES FAIR, 15, DIES FROM INJURIES HE RECEIVED AT PLAY
James Fair, 15-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. John Fair, East street, succumbed last night at six o'clock in a local hospital from injuries received Sunday afternoon while out playing.
Young Fair, with several playmates, was sliding near the reservoir Sunday afternoon. He struck a stick, which passed through the rectum into the intestines. An emergency operation was performed on Monday.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Freewill Baptist church Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, with the Rev. Clarence Howington officiating. Interment will be in the Hyder Cemetery.
Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John H. Fair; three brothers, Jess Willard, John Paul, and James Robert Fair; his grandmother, Mrs. M. M. Blackburn, and grandfather, James H. Fair; also five aunts and three uncles.
