Robert V. Johnson, 70, 767 First Avenue, Hampton, died Thursday, September 27, 2001, at Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mr. Johnson was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Clyde and Gladys Julian Johnson. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Johnson, two sisters, Thelma Roberts and Ruby Whisnant, and a brother, Hackie Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was a member and deacon of Friendship Free Will Baptist Church and a retired machinist from Alemite Corporation. He was a 1950 graduate of Hampton High School and attended East Tennessee State University. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in Korea.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Deloach Johnson, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Billy Hardin, Hampton; a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Bobbie Johnson, Hampton; three granddaughters, Dana Largent, Hampton, Jennifer Johnson, Elizabethton, and April Williams, Johnson City; two grandsons, Christopher Johnson, Elizabethton, and James Hardin, Logan, W.Va.; and two aunts, Frankie Fair, Johnson City, and Evelyn Gray, Roan Mountain. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

JOHNSON -- Funeral services for Robert V. Johnson, 70, 767 First Avenue, Hampton, who died Thursday, September 27, 2001, were conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday, September 29, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, with the Rev. Junior Angle and the Rev. Dallas Gregg officiating. Music was under the direction of the Angle Family. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 30, at Julian Cemetery, Hampton. Active pallbearers will be Paul Stafford, Justin Babb, Bill Shoun, Bud Shell, Mark Angle and Doug Calhoun. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Roberts, J.D. Calhoun, V.I. Vance, Joe Davis, Ray Davis, Bill Whisnant Sr., Freeman Lewis, Jerry Stafford and Dave Caldwell. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 1:55 p.m. Sunday for the graveside service. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence, 767 First Avenue, Hampton, at any time. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations in memory of Mr. Johnson to Friendship Free Will Baptist Church
