    Three Pioneers Die During Past Week
    Mrs. Rachael Louisa Brannock

    On April 24, 1845 a baby girl was born at Boon, North Carolina. Her parents
    died while she was an infant and she was reared by foster parents. In
    girlhood she was known as Rachael Louisa Hodge.

    The days of her youth were those trying days of the Civil War and she lived in
    the torn and bleeding Southland. It was during these trying days of terror
    and strife it did not mean comfort and ease to get married. She and her
    husband faced the stern problems of life with whatever courage they were able
    to muster; but face it they did.

    Two children were born to them; Harry, who lived until about 14 years ago, and
    Mattie, now Mrs. Mattie Arrendiell who lives in Payette, Idaho.

    About 1890, Mrs. Marley was married to Hilary J. Brannock, in Kentucky. They
    immediately settled in Bloomington, Indiana, where they lived until 1911 when
    they came to Payette. Mr. Brannock died in Payette 13 years ago.

    She is survived by her only daughter, Mrs. Mattie Arrendiell, Payette, and one
    great-grandchild.

    Funeral services were conducted from the Landon Funeral Home on Tuesday
    morning at 10:30 with the Rev. S. P. Hagler of Ontario, Oregon, officiating.
    Music was furnished by Mrs. Crights, Mrs. Fenwick with Mrs. Springstun
    accompanying.

    Pallbearers were John Sur, E. W. Equala, Frank Satoris, Mac Cheek, H. D. Moore
    and Mr. Freeman.

    Rachel married Joseph W. "Joe" Marley about 1865 in , Watauga County, North Carolina, North Carolina. Joseph was born on 29 Sep 1839 in North Carolina, , , ; died on 9 Mar 1904 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Donnelly Cemetery, , Johnson County, Tennessee.     Services Held For Mrs. M. Arrendiell

    Services for Mrs. Mattie E. Arrendiell, 90, of Payette who died Wednesday evening here in a hospital following a long illness were conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Shaffer Memory Chapel. Interment was at Riverside.

    Mrs. Arrendiell was born Sept. 11, 1866 in Boone, N.C., and was married to Schuyler Arrendiell Feb. 16, 1890, in Mountain City, Tenn. She came to Payette in 1911 from New Mexico. Her husband preceded her in death in 1926.

    She was a member of the Church of the Brethren and the Rebekah Lodge.

    Surviving is a nephew, Tom Ennor of Salt Lake City.

    Matha married Schuyler C. Arrendell on 16 Feb 1890 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee. Schuyler (son of William T. Arrendell and Mary C. Stout) was born on 8 Nov 1868 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; died on 5 Jan 1926 in Payette County, , , Idaho. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
