    He was a son of the late Carson J. and Abigail Campbell Whitehead. Brothers; Herbert Whitehead, Frank Whitehead, Clyde Whitehead, Robert Whitehead, Bill Whitehead, Edward Whitehead, Bud Whitehead, and Paul Whitehead.
    Wife of 58 years: Dorothy Jackson Whitehead. Sons; Joseph "Joe" Whitehead and Jeffrey Whithead. Grandson; Joshua Whitehead. Granddaughter; Melissa Whitehead.. Sisters; Christine Dye, Frances Hafner, Mae Reed, Dorothy Campbell, Sarah Sellers, and Jean Stewart.

    Edward "Poage" Whitehead, 92, of Johnson City, died after an extended illness on Friday, June 29, 2018, at NHC Healthcare Facility.
    Poage was born in Butler, Tenn., to the late Carson Hamilton and Abbie Gill Campbell Whitehead. He was also preceded in death by six brothers, Frank, Herbert, Clyde, Bobby, J.D. and Bill Whitehead, and four sisters, Frances Hafner, Mae Reed, Dorothy Campbell and Christine Dye.
    Poage was of the Baptist faith. He served in the Army during World War II.
    He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Ruby Buck Whitehead, who never left his side.
    Poage is also survived by his loving family, daughter, Carolyn Carrier (Larry Gene); grandchildren, Christy Thompson (Travis) and Heather Brush (Drew); and great-grandchildren, Carson and Ella Thompson and Breden Brush. Mr. Whitehead is also survived by two sisters, Sara Sellers and Jean Stewart, and two brothers, Bud Whitehead (Betty) and Paul Whitehead (Jean). Also left to cherish his memory are several nieces and nephews and many friends.
    Funeral services for Edward "Poage" Whitehead will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, July 2, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. R.L. Poole officiating and Travis Thompson providing the music. Active pallbearers will be Tommy Whitehead, Drew Brush, Travis Thompson, Gene Carrier, Eddie Andes and David Townsend. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Mullins, Glen Townsend and Bud Whitehead. Military Honors will be provided by the Carter County Honor Guard. The graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, at Happy Valley Memorial Park.

    CLEMMONS, NC - Paul H. Whitehead of Clemmons, NC died Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at his home following a long illness.

    Paul was born December 18, 1931, in Johnson County, TN to the late Carson and Eliza Whitehead. He was a veteran of the Air Force and proudly served as a staff sergeant during the Korean Conflict. After his time in the Air Force, he attended East Tennessee University. In 1960, he moved to Jacksonville, Florida and was employed for 36 years as a purchasing manager.

    Mr. Whitehead was a faithful member of Englewood Christian Church in Jacksonville and served humbly as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and elder. He loved being a part of the Boy Scouts of America where he spent many years as scoutmaster. Paul enjoyed playing and watching sports throughout his life including football and basketball. He also took every opportunity to travel throughout the United States and abroad. He enjoyed hiking and exploring nature.

    He moved to Clemmons, NC in 2008 to spend his retirement years closer to family and later became a member of Pinedale Christian Church.

    Survivors include his wife, Jean Whitehead, of 69 years; a daughter, Joan (Andy) Heck of Asheville, NC; a son, David (Debbie) of Mocksville, NC; two granddaughters, Heather (Bryce) Rodgers of Harrisonburg, VA and Hannah (Taner) Campbell of Hendersonville, NC. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

    In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Bob and Bud Whitehead of Johnson City, TN and two sisters, Sarah Sellers of Johnson City, TN and Jean Stewart of Springfield, TN. The funeral service for Paul H. Whitehead was conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, November 18, 2022, by Pastor Daniel Spainhour at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel, 108 E. Kinderton Way, Advance, NC 27006.

    A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, November 21, 2022, at Roselawn Memory Gardens in Johnson City, TN.

    JOHNSON CITY - Buddy Whitehead, age 82, of Johnson City, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 20, 2020 from the Johnson City Medical Center.

    Buddy was born in Butler, Tennessee to the late Carson and Eliza Robinson Whitehead. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several siblings.

    Buddy was a lifelong athlete playing baseball in Chambley, France while serving in the United States Air Force and softball for the remainder of his life. He was inducted into various Hall of Fames in Texas and Georgia and the Carter County Sports Hall of Fame. He retired from the United States Postal Service and was a dedicated member of Sinking Creek Baptist Church for over 50 years. Buddy was a member of the Lyons Club. He was a Master Mason, a 50 year member of the Dashiell Masonic Lodge #238 in Elizabethton. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a Jericho Shriner.

    Those left to cherish his many many wonderful memories include his wife of over 50 years, Betty L. Whitehead, of the home; two children, Vanessa McKinney (Tim) and Vince Whitehead, all of Johnson City; five grandchildren, Arielle Faith, Brandon Whitehead, Shaleia Whitehead, Alex McKinney and Carson Whitehead; one brother, Paul Whitehead, of Winson-Salem, NC; and one sister, Sarah Sellers, of Johnson City.

    A service to honor and celebrate the life of Buddy Whitehead will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Friday, January 24, 2020 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Pastor Jason Hoagland, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Friday.

    The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends
