    Effie was the granddaughter of Thomas Jefferson Buckles and his wife Celia Williams. In the 1920 Carter County Census, she is listed as their 7 year old daughter (they were 69 and 66). In the 1930 census, she is listed as a granddaughter of Celia, then a widow.

    Notes:

    Charlotte Danner Brown Bowers, 75, of Elizabethton, passed away Monday, January 23, 2012, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.

    A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Carmack and Effie Buckles Danner.

    Charlotte was a 1954 graduate of Elizabethton High School. She was retired from Pierce Salvage and was also formerly employed by TPI Corporation. She was a member of Sunset Free Will Baptist Church.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bobby Dee Brown; a daughter, Melinda "Mindy" Brown; a brother, Ralph Danner; and two sisters, Betty Estep and Eva Williams.

    Survivors include her husband, Clint C. Bowers; a granddaughter, Debra Russell Lambert and her husband, Shane, Elizabethton; a great-grandson, Brandon Lambert II; a brother and sister-in-law, Fornie and Mary Danner, Elizabethton; an uncle, Charles Worley Danner; a brother-in-law, Don Williams; a sister-in-law, Alice Danner, Knoxville; three step-sons and two step-daughters-in-law, Charles A. Bowers, of the home, Glenn and Cheryl Bowers, Elizabethton, and James and Tes Bowers of New York; and a step-grandson, Travis Bowers, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

    Funeral services for Mrs. Bowers will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 25, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Terry Richardson officiating. Music will be provided by Jeff Odom and Patti Whitson. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 26, in the Caldwell Springs Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, will be Shane Lambert, Shane Holly, Jeff Smith, Jesse Irick, Chris Irick, Bea Crow, Darrell Kestner and Aaron Kestner. Honorary pallbearers will be her church family and friends. The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the staff of Pine Ridge Care Center and the staff of the ICU at Sycamore Shoals Hospital for the excellent care that was received. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence.
