  1. 1.  Virginia Treadway was born about 1921 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; died on 19 Mar 2007 in Washintgon County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Memorial Garden, , Washington County, Tennessee.

    Notes:

    Virginia Treadway Shipley, 86, of Johnson City, went home to be with her Lord on March 19, 2007, surrounded by her family.

    She was a native of Carter County and was the daughter of the late John H. and Ina Nidiffer Treadway. She was a homemaker, a Christian and of the Baptist faith.

    Ms. Shipley was most proud of her family and enjoyed spending time with them and all of her grandchildren. She also volunteered at the Senior Citizen's Center in Johnson City.

    In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Delmar McConnell; four brothers: Harold Treadway, Guy Treadway, R.L. Treadway and Allen Treadway; five sisters: Lillian Perry, Alta Treadway, Elizabeth Lizzie Deloach, Faye Norris and Helen Thomas.

    The family would like to extend a special thank you to the 2500 wing of the Johnson City Medical Center.

    Survivors include three sons and two daughter-in-laws: Elmer and Betty Shipley, Danny and Danita Shipley, Lewis Shipley, all of Johnson City; one daughter and son-in-law: Glenda and Freddie Goldsberry, of Watauga; seven grandchildren: Travis Maness, Jennifer Shipley, Rebecca Shipley, Natasha Shipley, Chris Shipley, Jessica Shipley, Alicia Shipley; two great-grandchildren: Shelby Maness and Chelsea Maness; sister: Louise Arnold, of Johnson City; and also several nieces and nephews.

    A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday at 2:00 PM in the Sunrise chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Reece Harris officiating. The family will receive friends from 12-2 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow in Washington County Memory Gardens.
