Evelyn Carden Lewis, 88, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, July 1, 2018.
A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Lovie and Emma Teague Carden.
Mrs. Lewis went to Washington, D.C. to work in the records department at the F.B.I. upon her graduation from Hampton High School. In Washington, is where she met and married her husband of 65 years, Sturgill Lewis, who preceded her in death on September 29, 2016. Evelyn and her husband were local business people for several years. She and her husband were long-time members of Gateway Baptist Church, Bristol, and later members of Hunter Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by six sisters and two brothers.
Those left to cherish her memory are her four children, Paula (Gary) Vance, Cathy (David) Grindstaff, Daniel (Gina) Lewis and Peter (Becky) Lewis. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Micah Lewis, Ashleigh Lewis, Jonathan Grindstaff, Chad Grindstaff, Jeremy McCann, Tyler McCann, Madison Lewis, Parker Lewis, Lori Feaster, Jacob Feaster and Kaya Feaster, and great-grandchildren, Andrew Grindstaff, Emery Grindstaff, Cora Grindstaff, Cameron McCann, Landon McCann, Addyson Lewis and Keegan Lewis. She is survived by two sisters, Lovie Belle Heffernan and Emily Payne, and one sister-in-law, Kathleen Glover.
Funeral services for Evelyn Carden Lewis will be conducted at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with David Shorter officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Micah Lewis, Jonathan Grindstaff, Chad Grindstaff, Jeremy McCann, Tyler McCann, Parker Lewis and Jacob Feaster. Honorary pallbearers are Ray Lewis Jr., Ronnie Carden, Randy Lewis, Dr. Keith Morley and Dr. Paul Brown. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the staff of Ivy Hall for the loving care that was given to Evelyn and to Sturgill Lewis during their time of illness. The family would also like to thank Caris Hospice for Mrs. Lewis's care these past few days.

Jackie Richard "Little Fudd" Campbell, age 71 passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2022 at his home in Johnson City. Jackie was born in Elizabethton and was the son of the late Arlene and Clyde "Fudd" Campbell.

Jackie was a man of God and served as a leader in The Church as long as he was able. His passions beyond Christ and family were cars and hunting. When able, he spent most Saturdays at the Elizabethton car show...if it wasn't deer season. He always had time for friends and stories, both of which, he had many. His illness was long suffering, but we take peace in knowing he sits with the Lord today.

Survivors include his loving wife of 28 years, Bonita "Bo" Campbell; stepchildren, Dawn Zeoli of Johnson City and Michael Blevins of Sevierville. Two granddaughters, Courtney and Ashley Blevins and one great-grandson, Collin Hoilman. He had one daughter, Jacqueline Campbell of Elizabethton. He leaves behind three siblings, Marsha Lowe of Johnson City, Phillip Campbell of Elizabethton, and Cindy Weaver of Elizabethton. He had several nieces, nephews, and friends. Bo wishes to give a special thanks to nephew, Gary Ledford of Nashville, and sister, Marsha Lowe of Johnson City. Another special thanks to his brother and sister in Christ, Bob and Jackie Wingler of Johnson City, for all they did in his last days.

The family cannot emotionally handle a traditional receiving of friends but invites everyone to attend the graveside service. Pastor Dean Presnell of Elizabethton will officiate the graveside service for Jackie on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 12:00 noon at Monte Vista Memorial Park, in the Garden of the Gospels.

Michael Calvin Carden, 71, of Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2019, at Signature Health Care of Elizabethton following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Crawford and Sessie Carden.
Mr. Carden was a millwright welder and was owner of Mike's Produce for 10 years. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Mikes hobbies were fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his children, Tina (Eddie) Williams and Lisa (Wendell) Fulton, all of Elizabethton; four grandchildren, Whitney (Ryan) Williams Birchfield, Allison (Adam) Timbs, Wesley Garland and Lucus Garland; a great-grandchild, Emersyn Birchfield; a sister, Nancy Burwick; and his special friend, Sharon Barnes.
Graveside services for Michael Calvin Carden will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Doug Hinshaw officiating. Interment will follow the service. Active pallbearers will be Ryan Birchfield, Adam Timbs, Wesley Garland, Lucus Garland, Wendell Fulton and Eddie Williams. The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the CNAs, nurses and staff of Signature Health for their loving care.

JOHNSON CITY - Teresa Jill Carden Woodring, 63, Johnson City passed away Friday, October 5, 2018 in the Johnson City Medical Center.

A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Clifford & Dorothy Campbell Carden. She was a graduate of Hampton High School. Teresa was a loving wife of 37 years. She was a lover of animals.

Survivors include her husband: Dennis Woodring. A Brother: Ronnie Carden, Elizabethton. Two Sisters: Becky (Terry) Brumitt and Karen Heaton all of Hampton. Her Brother-In-Law: Barry "Butch" Woodring of Florida. Several nieces & nephews.

This was the day, February 27th, 2018, that the Lord had made to take Steven Douglas Whitehead home to be with his family in Heaven.

Steve went to bed on Monday night, February 26th and died peacefully during the night.

Steven was born on May 31st, 1960, to Ollie Carden Whitehead and Clarence Walter Whitehead of Carter County. They were waiting at the River Jordan for him as was his brother Clarence Walter Whitehead, Jr. and his sister, Wanda Yvonne (Bonnie) Whitehead Ritchie Gentry. He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Garfield and Ethel (Lacey) Whitehead and his maternal grandparents Laney James Carden and Alice (Teague) Carden. Many other uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends were there to receive him.

He is survived by a sister Glenda Gail Whitehead McCracken formerly of Hampton, TN currently residing in Orfordville, WI; a brother-in law Leslie Lewis McCracken; niece Christina McCracken, Orfordville, WI; nephews John Joseph McCracken (Katie Jacoby) Madison, WI; Andrew Daniel Whitehead (Shanda Campbell); great-niece Kaila Zevon Whitehead of Johnson City, TN; a guardian nephew Jeffery Rutter, Oshkosh, WI; brother-in law Michael Charles Gentry of Siam as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Steven was a member of Hampton First Baptist Church. A graduate of Hampton High and ETSU, he was a professional cook all of his life, beginning his career at Gus's Greek Restaurant, Corpus Christi TX and working at CornerStone (Appalachian Christian Village) when he passed. He will be missed by many co-workers and friends.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Saturday March 3 th 2018. A service will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Michael Rich, Nathan Rankin, Arthur Kennedy, Danny Holden, Melvin Bentley and other family members and friends. Songs will be some of his favorite hymns and service by immediate family.
