    MRS. ETOILA HICKS STOUT...
    ... 61, of Butler Rte 4, died in Memorial Hospital, Johnson City, Sunday evening, March 10, after an illness of four years.
    She was a native of Carter County and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. She was also a former teacher in the county school system.
    Survivors are her husband, J. Blaine Stout; two sons, M/Sgt. Reuben S. Stout of Williston, S. C., and Bert Stout of Flint, Mich.; four daughters, Mrs. Vera Jordan of Mountain City, Mrs. Helen Walsh of Columbia, S.C.; Mrs. Mary Alice Johnson of Knoxville, Mrs. Ann Greer of Butler Rte 4, and a foster daughter, Mrs. Pansy Phipps of Knoxville; one brother, Robert L. Hicks of Coolidge, Ariz.; and 15 grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Worley and H. T. Mabry officiating.
    Burial was in the Stout cemetery.

    Etoila married John Blaine Stout about 1921 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee. John (son of David D. Stout and Martha Lucinda Morris) was born about 1894 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; died on 4 May 1960 in Shelby County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Stout Cemetery, , Johnson County, Tennessee.     Vera Stout Jordan, age 86, of Mountain City, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 28, 2012 in the Mountain City Care Center were she was a resident for 17 years.

    Vera was born March 12, 1925 in the Pandora Community of Johnson County. She was the daughter of the late J. Blaine Stout and Etoila Bell Hicks Stout and stepmother Ruth Jones. She graduated from Steed Business College and worked for Mountain Electric Coop until the birth of her fours sons. She devoted her life to raising them. She grew up in Pandora and was saved at a young age and attended Bethel Baptist Church. She and her family moved their membership to First Baptist Church in Mountain City, in 1967.

    She was proceeded in death by her husband, S.D. Jordan, who passed away on December 30, 2001 and brothers, Willard Ray Stout of the home and David " Bert " Stout of Chapin, SC. She is survived by four sons, John B. Jordan of Fort Pierce, FL, Terry Jordan and wife Mary and Jerry Jordan and wife Judy, both of Mountain City, and Phil Jordan and wife Doris of Hermitage, TN; one brother, Rubin Stout of Mount Pleasant, SC; three sisters, Helen Walsh of Columbia, SC, Mary Alice Johnson of Hermitage, TN, and Ann Greer of Mountain City; grandchildren, Michael (Kim) Jordan, Jennifer Campbell, John (Davina) Younce all of Mountain City, Tammy Jordan of Butler, Gerald "Jerry " Jordan, Jr. of Cleveland, MS, Sarah Jordan and Justin Jordan of Hermitage, TN; seven great grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. She also left many friends at the nursing home and her special friend Minister Jim Hutchinson.

    Her family would like to thank all the staff and workers at Mountain City Care Center for their love and affection enabling our mother to be so happy and the care she was given. We would like to thank Caris Healthcare for their wonderful services they provided in her last four days of life. We would like to thank Doctor John Whitlock for the many years of health care he provided and the Johnson County Rescue Squad for their many trips to the Boone Hospital.

    The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 30, 2012 at First Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor Ricky Campbell and Dr. Kenneth Jordan to officiate. Music will be under the direction of Ms. Bethany Campbell, Deanna and Makynna Younce. The graveside service and interment will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 31st at Sunset Memorial Park. Vera's grandsons, Michael Jordan, Gerald Jordan, Jr., and John Younce; great grandsons, Cody Jordan, Gary Evans and Joseph Townsend will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff and workers at Mountain City Care Center and Dr. John Whitlock.
