    Blaine Buck, Sr., 95, Elizabethton passed away Saturday, January 14, 2012 in the Hermitage Health Center.

    A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Milton B. "Pig" & Osa Bell Redmond Buck.

    He was a graduate of Happy Valley High School and attended Tulane University in New Orleans.

    He served in the Army Air Force as a crew chief-Pilot on a B-17 & B-29 Bombers during World War II. He flew several missions over Japan and on one flight his plane was short down. He earned many medals for his five and half years of service.

    Blaine was employed at North American Rayon Corporation for over 40 years where he was a Supervisor in the Knitting Department.

    Blaine was an inventor, he got a U.S. Patient and wrote a book. He was part-owner in a printing Company on West G. Street for several years.

    He was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Elizabethton and the Fair-Morgan Sunday School Class. He was active in the Boy Scouts for many years.

    In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Mary Lee Merritt Buck who died October 17, 2004 and two sisters: Ann Buckles and Kathryn Lacey.

    Survivors include his son: David B. Buck, Jr., of the home and formerly of Talbott, Tenn. A Brother & Sister-in-Law: Jack and Nancy Buck and their two children: Mike & Sandy.

    Graveside Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2012 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday will be: Joel Briggs, Mack Merritt, Kenneth Nave, Terry Pierce, R.L. Hambrick and Ken Hughes. David Jr. would like to express a special "Thank You" to the staff of Appalachian Christian Village and a big "Thank You" to the Staff of Hermitage Health Care and also to the Staff of Caris Health Care for the excellent care that was received. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

    Jack Alvin Buck, age 94, went home to meet his Lord and Savior on Thursday May 17, 2018, passing at home following a brief illness.

    He was a lifelong resident of the Elizabethton area. Jack was the son of the late M.B. and Osa Redmond Buck. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Slagle Buck, in 2015; brother, David Blaine Buck and sisters, Ann Buckles and Kathryn Lacy. Jack and Nancy Buck were members of First Christian Church Elizabethton where Jack previously served as Sunday School Treasurer and Nancy taught Sunday School for over 40 years.

    Jack was graduate of Happy Valley High School where he enjoyed and lettered in football and basketball. He was a starting quarterback on the football team. Jack enjoyed playing sports and watching the Tennessee Volunteers while coaching from the stands. He was proud to serve his country in the 10th Mountain Division of the United States Army in World War II, stationed in Italy. After the war ended, Jack returned home and enrolled in East Tennessee State University and graduated with a degree in business. After college graduation, Jack was employed at North American Rayon Corporation. His career followed at Nuclear Fuels as an accountability officer and supervisor for several departments until his retirement.

    One of Jack's special talents was to spin a big tale while he enjoyed other's reaction to it. Hunting and fishing are the Buck family's passion. Jack's father taught him to hunt and fish as a child. He shared this enthusiasm and his skills with his sons throughout the years. The family enjoyed annual trips to South Dakota for pheasant hunts. When Jack was 92 years old he shot his last deer and recently went fishing at his favorite spot on the Doe River. Jack wrote memoirs of his sports, hunting, fishing and military experiences.

    Those left to cherish Jack's memory include: two sons, Jack Buck and his wife Amy, of Florida; Mike Buck of Johnson City; Jack and Amy's two daughters, Brandy Roberts and her husband, Matt;BeckeyGreene and her husband, Daniel; great-grandsons, Will and Andrew Roberts and Mike's son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Mandy Buck. Jack also leaves behind daughter-in-law, Julie Buck; a niece, Teresa Young and her husband, Philip; several other nieces and nephews; several cousins and his special friends, Pat Szabo and family and Becky Harold.

    A service to honor the life of Jack Alvin Buck will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Monday, May 21, 2018 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Mr. Michael Klaus, minister officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Monday prior to the service. Committal and entombment will follow the funeral service on Monday at Happy Valley Memorial Park, Mausoleum of Peace. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard.

    Martha L. Buck Oliver, 93, of Elizabethton, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 8, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Joe and Minnie Estridge Buck. She was also preceded in death by her son, Rickey Wayne Oliver, on November 9, 2018.
    Mrs. Oliver was a member of Hunter Memorial Baptist Church.
    Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 66 years, Paul W. Oliver; two grandchildren, Cherokee Oliver and Phillip Brandon Oliver; three brothers, Billy Joe, Ray and Jerry Buck; and one sister, Sue Jarrett. She is also survived by two brothers-in-law, Robert Guy Oliver and Terry Oliver.
    Graveside services and interment for Martha L. Buck Oliver will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, February 11, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Terry Oliver officiating. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m., are Anthony Buck, Eric Buck, Keith Mullins, Michael Buck, Jackie Buck and Brian Grindstaff.

    ELIZABETHTON - Bobbie Joe Buck, 71, Elizabethton passed away Friday, March 9, 2018 in the Select Specialty Hospital, Bristol, Tenn.

    He was a Carter County native. Bobbie Joe was a 1965 graduate of Happy Valley High School. He served in the United States Navy. He was retired as Plant Manager with the MECO Corporation, Greeneville. Bobbie Joe was a member of V.F.W. Post 2166. He was preceded in death by his mother: Francis Louise Snead Buck and a daughter: Jocyene Tengroth.

    Survivors include his wife of 42 years: Barbara Sue Asher Buck. His Children: Bobbie Joe Buck II & wife Freda, Johnson City, Carson Jackson & wife Judy, Abingdon, Va. And Cherial Lingerfelt, Bristol. His father, Billy Joe Buck. Five Grandchildren: Gina Percey & husband Matt, Randy Lingerfelt & fiancé Dottie Craig, Landon Jackson, Wesley Jackson and Logan Buck. Three Great Grandchildren: Jordan Percey, Jackson Percey and Ryder Lingerfelt.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2018 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Gary Edwards officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Peace, Happy Valley Memorial Park. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Tim Gouge, Todd Avery, Trey Avery, Keith Mullins, Mike Buck and Larry Brown.

    JOHNSON CITY - Tara D. Lady, 70, of Johnson City, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2022 at her residence, surrounded by her family. She was born July 28, 1951 in Johnson City, TN to Foy and Sue Jarrett. Tara grew up in Central Community of Carter County and graduated from Happy Valley High School in 1969.
    She worked for many years at Watauga Industries as a supervisor, and then for several other companies in the Johnson City area. When she was not working, Tara enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, shopping and traveling, taking several cruses with her husband. She had also been a member of the Johnson City Church of God as well. In her words, the things that made her smile were family, flowers, and sunshine.
    Tara is preceded in death by her father, Foy Jarrett and grandparents, Joe and Minnie Buck.
    Those left to cherish her memory include, her husband of nineteen years, Jackson P. Lady; step-daughter, Emily Johnson and husband David; step-grandchildren, Hayden Johnson and Emma Clara Johnson; mother, Sue Jarrett; sister, Shay Mullins and husband Keith; and nephew Dalton Mullins.
    Tara will be laid to rest in a private family graveside service at Mt. Home National Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Gary Edwards.
