    Notes:

    Marjorie L. Tester, age 90 of Johnson City, formerly of Butler and Greeneville, passed away Friday, November 12, 2010, at Lakebridge Health Care Center in Johnson City.

    She was a daughter of the late James Lawson and Hattie Mains Lewis. Mrs. Tester was a member of Meadow View Baptist Church, Butler. She was a cook at Elk Mills Elementary School and Little Milligan School. She was a collector of dolls, loved flowers, crafts and sewing.

    Mrs. Tester enjoyed her grandchildren and loved gospel and bluegrass music.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson R. Tester; one sister, Mary Higgins; and seven brothers, Earl, Edward, Paul, Ross, George, Beryl and Seryl Lewis.

    Survivors include a son, James R. Tester and wife, Brenda, Myrtle Beach, SC; a daughter, Linda Tester Hollaway and husband, Mack, Butler; brother, Herbert Lewis, Mountain City; grandsons, Rev. Brian Hollaway and wife, Kim, Anthony Tester and wife, Karen, and Jimmy Tester; four great grandchildren, Brandon Hollaway, Britney Hollaway, Clint Tester and Jordon Tester. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

    The funeral service for Mrs. Marjorie Tester will be conducted at 7 P.M. Sunday, November 14, 2010, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Richard Jones and Chaplain Dwight MacPherson officiating.

    The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Sunday from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. prior to the service.

    The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Monday, November 15, at 11:00 A.M. in the Sugar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Brian Hollaway, Anthony Tester, Jimmy Tester, Brandon Hollaway, Herman Tester, Doyle Tester and Richard Tester. Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff at Lakebridge Health Care Center. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 A.M. on Monday, November 15, 2010.

    MOUNTAIN CITY - Herbert R. Lewis, age 93, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2016 in Kingsport, Tennessee. He was born on June 9, 1923 to the late Lawson and Hattie Mains Lewis. In addition to his parents, Herbert was preceded in death by his son-in-law, James 'Jim' Dugger; two sisters and six brothers.

    Herbert was a United States Army Veteran, having honorably served during World War II. During this time, he had been stationed in Germany and Okinawa, Japan.

    Like most men of his generation, Herbert was a proud farmer and had a special love for Bluegrass music. He was also a gifted mandolin and guitar player. He loved to travel and play music and could often been found at the nearest eatery on a Friday or Saturday night playing music with some of his closest friends.

    Herbert had been a member of Midway Baptist Church of Butler, TN.

    Those left to cherish Herbert's memories include his wife of 74 years, Leta Grindstaff Lewis; daughter, Evelyn Dugger of Kingsport, TN; grandson, Layne Dugger and his wife Dianne; great granddaughters, who were Herbert's pride and joy and who he always referred to as 'The Greaties', Reagan Dugger and Delaney Dugger, all of Windermere, FL; special niece, Linda Hollaway and husband Mack of Butler, TN; sister-in-law, Liddie Lewis of Johnson City, TN; special nephew, Earl 'Sonny' Lewis of FL; several more nieces and nephews and many special friends and neighbors.

    The family will receive friends from 12-1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Greg Thompson and Chuck Morefield officiating. Graveside service and interment with military honors accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard will follow at the Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Carl Trivett, Earl Burchett, Ed Laws, Larry Grindstaff, Paul Ward, Doyle Tester. Honorary pallbearers are Greg Pope, Mack Hollaway, Earl Morefield, Ronnie Laws and Raymond Cress.

    Herbert married Leta Grindstaff on 9 Aug 1942 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. Leta (daughter of Daniel J. Grindstaff and Ada Proffit) was born on 3 Aug 1921 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; died on 25 Aug 2017 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, , Johnson County, Tennessee.
