    Mrs. Betty J. Collins, age 72, died at her home in the 3rd district this morning at 3:45 o'clock, after an illness of several months. Mrs. Collins was a native of Carter county and had lived her entire life in Carter county. She was a member of the Little Doe Free Will Baptist church.
    Survivors: three daughters, Mrs. Ida Rose, Mrs. Dana Hill, Hampton, Mrs. John Orr; two sons, Elisah, Luther, Hampton; two brothers, Jobe Gouge, Jonesboro, R. A. Gouge, Hampton; twelve grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be conducted from the Little Doe Free Will Baptist church Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock with the Rev. Carl Osborne.
    Burial will be made in the Collins cemetery.

    TALBOTT – Jimmy Dale Collins, 60, Talbott, Tennessee passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016, in the St. Thomas Hospital, Nashville.

    A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Elisha & Gladys Bentley Collins. Jimmy was a 1973 graduate of Cloudland High School. He was employed as a truck driver with Yellow Roadway Corporation. He had lived in Talbott for the past 14 years. Jimmy was a member of the Little Doe Free Will Baptist Church, Hampton.

    Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Kathy Whitehead Collins; a son, James Matthew Collins, Dickinson, North Dakota; three sisters & two brothers-in-law, Betty & Barney McKinney, Judy McKinney and Helen & Gerald Roark all of Hampton; two brothers & one sister-in-law, George Collins and Mike & Sharon Collins, both of Hampton; his mother-in-law, Carolyn Sue Whitehead, Elizabethton; his brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Sidney & Barbara Smith, Donna Whitehead, Michael Whitehead all of Elizabethton and Jeffery & Angela Hathaway of Florida; several nieces, nephews & cousins.

    A Funeral Service will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the Peace Free Will Baptist Church, 600 S. David Crockett Parkway, Morristown with the Rev. Chris Dotson and Rev. Bill Houk officiating. Music will be provided by Rebecca Dotson. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the church.

    There will be another service for Jimmy at 1 p.m. on Friday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Shane Waters and Red. Ed Gregg officiating. Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Lisa Burdick. Active Pallbearers for both services will be: Donnie Sauceman, David Hilton, Jimmy Greer, Mark Trent, Billy Williams and Bobby Jernigan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Current and former employees of Yellow Roadway Corporation, Benny Stevens, Tex Cooper and Bennie Larkins.

    ELIZABETHTON - June Collins, age 89, of Elizabethton went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022. June was born in Carter County, TN to the late Luther and Irene Miller Collins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother; Bill Collins and brother-in-law, Tyler Welch.
    June Collins was a woman of the Baptist faith who loved to shop, travel and spend time with her daughter and granddaughter. She was a graduate of Hampton High School and attended ETSU and Steed College. June made a career as a Legal Secretary for Duggar-Cole Attorney for forty five years.
    Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Carolyn Pilkton and husband Dean of Elizabethton; granddaughter, Lauren Elizabeth Pilkton, sister, Jane Welch, nephews, Joshua Todd Welch and Antony Steven Collins; a great niece, Alli Nave; special friend, Charlotte Montgomery; caregiver, Wanda Hyder.
    A service to honor the life of June Collins will be conducted at 6:30 PM on Jan. 22, 2022 in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home-Elizabethton. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5:00 PM until the time of service in the funeral home chapel.
    The graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

    Her-man Hill, age 78, of Hamp-ton, passed away on Tues-day, May 12, 2015, at the John-son City Med-i-cal Center.
    Her-man was a na-tive of Carter County and was a son of the late Dana and Retta Collins Hill. In ad-di-tion to his par-ents, he was pre-ceded in death by a brother, Bill Hill; three sis-ters, Sally Pierce, Ivory Lewis and Mil-dred Hill; and two neph-ews, Neil Moody and Robert Stoc-ton.
    Mr. Hill re-tired from High-way's In-cor-po-rated, where he held var-i-ous man-age-ment roles. He was of the Free Will Bap-tist faith and en-joyed gar-den-ing. He was an ex-pert in lo-cal his-tory and en-joyed ge-ne-al-ogy. Her-man was a very giv-ing and self-less per-son, his great-est joy was spend-ing time with his grand-chil-dren.
    Sur-vi-vors in-clude his wife, Kay Peters Hill, of the home; and daugh-ters, Deb-bie Jones and hus-band, Tony, Pitts-boro, North Car-o-lina, Valarie Smith, Uni-coi, TN, and Kathy Leo-nard, John-son City; two grand-chil-dren, An-drew Jones and Alli-son Jones, both of Pitts-boro, NC; one brother, John Hill and wife, Freda, Hamp-ton; three sis-ters, Jane Lyons, Eliz-a-beth-ton, Mary Shultz and hus-band, Bill, Le-noir City, TN, and Susie Moody and hus-band Bob, But-ler, TN; a brother-in-law, Char-lie Peters and wife, Missy, Uni-coi; two sis-ters-in-law, Pat Stoc-ton, Char-lotte, NC, and Jane Rain-bolt and hus-band, Ken, Hamp-ton. Sev-eral nieces, neph-ews, great nieces and great neph-ews also sur-vive.

    Mary Evelyn Hill Shultz "Pood," 73, of Lenoir City, Tenn., passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2019, after a three year battle with cancer. Mary was born in Banner Elk, N.C., on November 6, 1946 to the late Retta Collins Hill and Dana Hill. Mary was predeceased by her two brothers, Herman Hill and Bill Hill; sister, Sallie Hill Pierce; two half sisters, Mildred Hill and Ivory Lewis; and nephew, Robert Neil Moody.
    Mary grew up in Hampton, Tenn., and graduated from Hampton High School. She married her husband, W.H. Shultz Jr. "Bill," on October 6, 1966. They had recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary. Mary lived in Elizabethton, Tenn., with her husband and children for over 25 years. During that time she worked at East Tennessee Undergarment. In 1990, Mary and Bill moved to Lenoir City, Tenn., where she took a job with TRW Koyo in Vonore, Tenn. She worked there until her retirement in 1995.
    Mary's retirement years were spent loving on her family. She was a wonderful cook, loved vacations on the sandy Gulf Coast beaches and enjoyed every moment she could with her husband, children and grandchildren. Their activities and being "mamaw" gave her so much pride and joy. She was a selfless woman who never met a stranger and loved doing things for others.
    Left to cherish her memory are her husband Bill; her daughter, Cynthia Shultz Noles (Bruce); her son, W.H. Shultz III "Billy"; and grandchildren, Victoria Anne Noles, William Taylor Shultz and Madison Bailey Shultz, all of Lenoir City, Tenn. She is also survived by a brother, John Hill (Frieda), and two sisters, Jane Lyons and Susie Moody (Bob). She is also blessed by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins left to remember her.
    Receiving of family and friends will be held from 1 until 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 27, at Tetrick Funeral Home in Elizabethton, Tenn. Following receiving of family and friends, the funeral service will be conducted by Dr. Alan King at 2 p.m. The graveside service and internment will follow immediately at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends in attendance.
