ELIZABETHTON - Marie Hamby Bunton, 86, Elizabethton, passed away peacefully Monday, April 10, 2017 at her residence. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late William & Minnie Franklin Hamby. Marie was a graduate of Elizabethton High School. She was a homemaker. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Marie was a member of Grace Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years: James Lionel Bunton and four siblings.

Survivors include Three Children & their spouses: Linda Lou and Rob Thompson, Honea Path, South Carolina, Jimmy & Debbie Bunton and Lori & Vince Hawkins all of Elizabethton. Her Grandchildren: James M. Clouse, April Fox, Cody Bunton, Brandi Davis, Tanner Marshall, Colby & Kasey Hawkins. Her step-grandson: Forrest Thompson. Her brother: Bob Hamby & wife Charlotte, Elizabethton. Her sister: Maxine Howell, Bristol, Tenn. Several nieces & nephews. Her special care giver: Eva Rector.

Graveside Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, April 14, 2017 in Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Tim Tapp officiating. Burial will follow the service. Active Pallbearers will be: Cody Bunton, James Clouse, Colby Hawkins, Shannon Brickey, Jesse Ford and Forrest Thompson.

ELIZABETHTON - Robert E. "Bob" Hamby, age 89, of Elizabethton, TN passed away Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Johnson City Medical Center. He was the son of the late William H. and Minnie Hamby. Bob was a U.S. Veteran serving in the Airforce. He received his Bachelor's of Science degree from ETSU. He retired from Mountain Home VA Medical Center as a therapist after a 40-year career. After retirement, he went on to work at the Elizabethton Golf Course. Bob was an avid golfer, a big UT Vols fan and a recipient of the Happy Valley High School All Watauga Conference Award. He was a great family man, and a member of Central Community Christian Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lloyd Hamby; sisters, Marie Bunton, Nell Stewart, Betty Jo Williams and Mae Odom and his beloved dog, Winnie. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Charlotte Hamby, of the home; three children, Terri Hamby-Hager and husband Chris Hager, Karen Hamby Hughes and husband, William "Eddie" and Bobby Hamby and fiancé, Melinda Chaber; grandchildren, McKenzie Hughes Miller and husband Matthew, Jared and Carli Hamby; two great-granddaughters, Kyndall and Charlotte Miller; sister, Maxine Woods; several nieces and nephews also survive.

A service to honor the life of Bob will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Thursday, July 6, 2023 in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home Elizabethton with Mr. Todd Wolfe officiating. The family will receive friends between the hours of 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM prior to the service on Thursday.

The graveside service and committal will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 7, 2023 in the Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Bobby Hamby, Chris Hager, Matthew Miller, Jared Hamby and Jimmy Bunton. Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Hughes, Marvin Rogers and Jerry Elliott.
