    ELIZABETHTON — Dorothy Jean "Tootsie" Campbell, 83, Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2011, in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital after a brief illness.

    A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late F. Brass and Sena Crosswhite McKinney. She was a homemaker. Mrs Campbell was an active member of First Free Will Baptist Church. She had taught the Beginners Sunday School Class for over 40 years.

    Tootsie was a care giver, always helping people in any way possible.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary Allen Campbell, March 23, 2008.

    Survivors include her husband of 64 years, John R. Campbell; A son & daughter-in-law: Randy & Susan Campbell, Powder Springs, Georgia; Three Grandsons: Jonathan Campbell and his fiancé, Samara Wilcox, Ian Campbell and his wife, Anne, and Garrett Campbell; A Great Grandson: Jesse Warren Campbell; A daughter-in-law: Margaret Campbell; A Sister-in-law: Katherine Emmert.

    A Service to celebrate the life of Dorothy Jean Campbell will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Nathan Jennings and Rev. Jack Lloyd officiating.

    Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the National Cemetery, Mountain Home. Music will be provided by Alecia Holder, Ian Campbell and Carolyn Pleasant, Pianist.

    Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Friday will be: Jonathan Campbell, Ian Campbell, Garrett Campbell, R.L. Hambrick, Tommy Pleasant, Spencer "Bo" Campbell, Grady Holder and Greg Moreland. Honorary Pallbearers will be Shannon Long and her Church Family.

    The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Friday to go to the cemetery.
