Landrine J. Robinson, age 60 of Shouns (Woods Hill) died unexpectedly from an apparent heart attack Saturday at 4 p.m. He was a native of Johnson County, son of the late Henry and Sarah Eggers Robinson; and a farmer.
Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Lona Blanche Robinson, Shouns; three sons, Claude Edward Robinson, West Grove, Pa., Loyd Robinson, Lexington, N.C. and Ben Franklin Robinson, Lexington, N.C.; four daughters, Mrs. Nellie N. Leonard, Bristol, Mrs. Sarah V. Leonard, Mountain City, Mrs. Mary Cleo Murphey and Mrs. Mrs.[sic] Glenda Johnson, both Lexington, N.C.; two brothers, Frank Robinson and George Robinson, both of Trade; one sister, Mrs. Lura May, Trade; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted from Lewis Gentry Funeral Home chapel Tuesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dwight Adams and Rev. Ernest Rash officiating. The burial was in Sunset Memorial Park, Mountain City.
Pallbearers and flower bearers were friends and neighbors.

Mr. Taft Eggers, 94, of Trade, Tennessee, died Friday, September 12, 2003 at Watauga Medical Center, following a brief illness.

He was born October 28, 1908, the late Millard Monroe and Nelia Main Eggers, and was a native of Trade, Tennessee.

Mr. Eggers was a farmer, logger and a former employee of the Johnson County Highway Department. He was a member of the Centerview Church of Christ.

Survivors include four daughters; three sons; four sisters; one brother, 20 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, seven step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; and special friend Boyd.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rosa Miller Eggers; one daughter, Jean Eggers Lippard, one daughter-in-law, Eleanor Roberts Eggers; an infant daughter; one brother, Stacy Eggers; one sister, Lola Wilson and one son-in-law, Dick Wilson.

Services were conducted Sunday evening at 8 p.m. at the Hux-Lippard Funeral Home, officiated by Mr. Bud Gentry and Mr. Darrell Broking officiating. Entombment services were held Monday morning at 10 a.m. at the Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum of Love.

Pearl Mary Thomas left this earth for her heavenly home, Thursday, June 30, 2016.

Known as “Mother” to her family, she had an amazing and gifted talent for gardening, crocheting, and quilting. She lovingly hand quilted each of her grandchildren their own quilt which each of them treasure with all their hearts.

In the last years of her life she enjoyed the simple pleasures of life like long walks and sitting on the front porch watching the birds she fed. She enjoyed these simple things with her best friend, Ms. Anna Dowell, who preceded her in death in April 2016. The family is most grateful for the love and friendship Anna shared with her.

She was born September 20, 1919 to the late Emit Eggers and Ada Maine Eggers. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Thomas. She was a member of the Centerview Church of Christ.

Survivors include: One daughter, Marguerite Miller and husband Clyde and one son, Wade Thomas and wife Marcia all of Mountain City, Tennessee. She was blessed with several grandchildren: Penny and husband Todd Chappell, Banner Elk, NC, David and wife Shirlene Miller, Elizabethton, TN, Dawn and John Taylor, Watauga, TN. Nine great grandchildren: April Miller, Matthew Miller, Cory Miller, Katie Skiera, Kelly Studer, Dustin Osborne, Brad Osborne, Rachel Osborne and Isaac Carr; three great great-grandchildren: Peyton Osborne, Ezra Studer and Clara Miller. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation for Ms. Pearl Thomas will be Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the Charles B. Hux Chapel from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service at 4:00 p.m. which will be at the Charles B. Hux Chapel, Hux-Lipford Funeral Home in Mountain City, and TN. with Rev. David Hankal officiating.

Graveside service will follow the funeral service at Sunset Memorial Park, Mountain City, TN. Active pallbearers are Joe Cornett, Bobby Eggers, Todd Chappell, Cory Miller, Luke Skiera, Brad Osborne, Dustin Osborne and Christian Studer. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. John Whitlock and Daniel Jones. The family would like to thank the staff of Mountain City Care Center for their excellent and compassionate care.

It is with great sadness the family of Helen G Bumgardner announces her passing on Monday, December 6th, 2021 at the Mountain City Care Center at the age of 90.
Helen was born in Johnson County, TN, on December 8, 1930. She was the daughter of the late George Robinson and Edith Reece. In addition to her parents she was proceeded in death by sons; Wayne and Jim Bumgardner; brothers: Charles and Justin Robinson; sisters Violet Mast, Geneva Hurd, Dora Wilson and Georgia Hodge; son- in-law Coy Gentry, and granddaughter; Tabby Bumgardner. She was a member of Centerview Church of Christ.

Violet Mae Mast, daughter of the late George Washington Robinson and Edith Mae (Reece) Robinson, was born on September 19, 1933 in Trade, Tennessee. She joined the Centerview Church of Christ in Trade, Tennessee at an early age and was a devoted member. She attended Bulldog School, and later attended Cove Creek High School (for one year), then attended Mountain City High School. Violet shared many stories of her life growing up in the hills of Tennessee with her brothers and sisters. Violet was united in marriage to the late Bobby Gene Mast on December 19, 1952. Their union of 64 years was filled with many blessings including three daughters. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning vegetables from her garden, and embroidering. She attended Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Rising Sun, Maryland. Violet worked at RMR Corporation in Elkton, Maryland until her retirement in 1987. In recent years she enjoyed traveling, taking her first plane ride to Fort Worth, Texas one month ago at age 86.

Violet peacefully went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 6, 2020 surrounded by family at Lancaster General Hospital. In addition to her parents and husband, Violet is preceded in death by three sisters: Dora Wilson of Zionville, North Carolina, Geneva Hurd of Trade, Tennessee, Georgia (Toots) Hodge of Mountain City, Tennessee, and three brothers: Justin Robinson and Charles Robinson, both of Trade, Tennessee and Charlie Cecil Robinson (stillborn).

Violet is survived by three daughters: Barbara Ann Davis and her husband Leo of Troutdale, Virginia, Linda Sue Miller and her husband Jon of New Providence, Pennsylvania and Cathy Jean Rehmeyer and her husband Wayne of New Freedom, Pennsylvania. Also, Mrs. Mast is survived by four grandchildren: Jon Richard Miller Jr. of Millersville, Pennsylvania, Bobby Glen Miller and wife Erin of Denver, Pennsylvania, Katelynn Amanda Allen and husband Jacob of Oxford, Pennsylvania, and Henry Matthew Ray and wife Kayte of North East, Maryland; and eight great-grandchildren Summer Rayne Miller, Ashton Tyler Miller, Cooper Anthony Miller, Cohen Tate Miller, Luke Henry Allen, Rosie Quinn Ray, Leah Jean Allen and Jackson Alexander Ray . Violet is also survived by one sister, Helen Bumgardner of Trade, Tennessee and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Violet Mast will be held 1:30-2:30 PM on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Crouch Funeral Home 127 South Main Street, North East, MD. The Funeral Service will immediately follow visitation. Interment will be at the North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD.

Wanda Lee Brown, age 69, of 158 H. Curd Lane, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683, passed away at her home on Sunday, August 11, 2019, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on December 5, 1949, to the late William Howard "Taft" and Rosa Ella Miller Eggers. She was the daughter-in-law of the late Marvin Roby Brown and Ida Simcox Brown. In addition to her parents and in-laws, she was preceded in death by her sister, Roma Jean Eggers Lipford and Shirley Mae Eggers Jenkins.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 53 years, Billy Ray Brown, sons Robert Keith Brown and wife Heather and Jeffrey Scott Brown and wife Pam, along with three grandsons that were the loves of her life, Griffin Brown, Isaac Brown, and Carson Brown. She is also survived by her brothers, Frank "Earl" Eggers of Neva, Eddie Dale Eggers and wife, Liz of Arizona, Teddy Austin Eggers and wife, Jan of Bristol, TN, sisters Carolyn "Sue" Wilson of Limestone, TN and Phyllis Joan Parker of Trade, TN. She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews that were very dear throughout her life.

Wanda was an excellent seamstress and worked from her home for many years sewing. She was most widely known for her excellent cake decorating and was in high demand for her beautiful creations for over forty years. She was a former employee of the Mountain City Glove Plant for many years before receiving her CNA II certification and pursuing a career in healthcare for Watauga County, North Carolina's Project on Aging where she retired after 18 years of service in 2012.

Wanda was a member of Hammons Chapel Christian Church. Her family has been especially blessed by their pastor Josh Giddings, who has been a constant source of strength, faith and a prayer warrior for the family during this trying time.

Funeral Services for Wanda Brown will be held Wednesday, August 14th, 2019, at 7:00 pm from the C.B Hux Memorial Chapel with a visitation from 5:00-7:00 pm.

Graveside Services will be held at Sunset Memorial Park, on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at 10:00 am.

Pallbearers will be Gary Cable, Darren Jenkins, Michael Lipford, Carroll Parker, Terry Parker, Buster Brown, Brad Gentry, and Craig Lipford. Honorary pallbearers will be Walter Simcox, Jake Lewis, Erick Toby, and Brad Woods.

William Lloyd Wilson, Sr., 89, of Avondale, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at Twin Pines Health Care Center, West Grove.

He was the husband of Janice Marie Greer Wilson with whom he shared 48 years of marriage.

Born in Mt. City, TN he was the son of the late Alfred and Lola Belle Eggers Wilson.

William was a veteran of the US Marine Corps serving in Korean War.

William was Baptist by faith.

He was a self-employed truck driver delivering hay and straw to the local horse farms and was also retired from Hudson Farms in West Grove.

He enjoyed taking care of his yard, working on cars and trucks and spending time with his family and pets.

He is survived by his wife; one son, William Lloyd Miles of AZ; one daughter, Judith Casanta (Leonard) of West Grove; four step-children, Jerry Ricky Price (Sue) of New London, Linda Pastorius (Bob) of West Grove, Edward Price (Sally Mull) of Rising Sun, MD and Christine Rickabaugh (Paul) of Cochranville; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; twelve step-great-grandchildren; and five siblings, Boyd Wilson of Mt. City, TN, Stacey Wilson of Nottingham, Nell Greer of Toughkenamon, Curtis Greer of Quarryville and Gordon Wilson of London Grove.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Penny Wilson Brown; one grandson, Eric Price; one great-granddaughter, Aria Sydenstricker and one brother, Tom Wilson.

Funeral services will be held 11 am on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at the Edward L. Collins, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc., 86 Pine St., Oxford, where family and friends may visit from 10 – 11 am.

Interment will be in New London Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Boyd was born on May 1st, 1934 in Johnson County, Tennessee to the late Alfred Wilson and Lola Eggers, Wilson in addition to his parents he was proceeded in death by his wife,Lena Osborne Wilson, and brothers Bill Wilson and Tom Wilson and Devoted Companion Marguerite Miller.

Boyd loved Working with his roses, gardening and yard work.

Marguerite Thomas Miller, age 81, treasured wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, passed away at her home in Mountain City, Tennessee, on March 30th, 2021. Marguerite was cherished, and she will be remembered as a special lady with a beautiful smile by her family and friends. For certain, her son David and daughter Dawn will miss "Mom" whom they dearly loved and who taught them to respect her and do as she said.

Marguerite was born to Dean H. and Pearl M. Thomas of Trade, Tennessee on July 21st, 1939. Her name was chosen for her by her father who had discovered the moniker when he worked as a very young man on an Idahoan ranch. Although everyone who knew her loved her name, Marguerite said it was too hard for people to pronounce it or spell it correctly. She preferred to be called "Margie"- especially by her adoring husband of over 60 years, Clyde Miller, who preceded her in death in February, 2018.

Marguerite is survived by her son, David and wife Shirlene Miller, her daughter, Dawn and husband John Taylor III; grandchildren (in order of birth), Dustin (Beth), Matthew, Brad (Amanda), Rachel, Cory (Brandy), Katie (Luke), and Kellie (Christian); great grandchildren, Aiden, Peyton, Clara, Ezra, Rosie, Knox, Daniel, Orion, and Flora; her only brother, Wade Thomas (Marcia); niece Penny (Todd); great nephew Isaac; sisters-in-law, Mae, Sue, Rebecca, Lucy, and Marcia; brother-in-law, Benny; dear friends; and her devoted companion, Mr. Boyd Wilson. Her eldest grandchild, April, preceded her grandmother in death on May 1, 2020.
