Mrs. Vina Jane Wilson 81 of Route 7, Elizabethton, died at 4:00 am Thursday following an illness of four months. She died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Clarence Berry of Route 7, Elizabethton where she made her home. She was a native of Carter County and a member of the Union Baptist Church. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Bertie McNabb, Mrs. Otis Bryant of Johnson City; Mrs. Clarence Berry of Elizabethton and Mrs. Tine Potter of Akron, Ohio; three sons, Will Wilson of Butler, Carl Wilson and Fate Wilson of Hampton; one sister, Mrs. E.G. roark of Johnson City; three brothers, Jim, Hooker and George Oliver of Hampton; twenty-seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Tetrick Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements. Funeral services for Mrs. Vina Jane Wilson will be held at 2 pm Saturday from the Union Baptist Church at Hampton. Officiating will be the Rev. G.H. Glass and Rev. W.W. Ward. Music by the Hardin Brothers Quartet. The body was returned to the home of a daughter, Mrs. Clarence Berry, of Route 7, Elizabethton, at 4 pm Thursday, and will be lie in state until the service hour. Hooker Oliver, age 81, of Route 1, Hampton died at the residence unexpectedly Monday. He was a native of Carter County and a retired carpenter, and formerly worked at the Lakeshore Boat Dock. Mr. Oliver was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Bonnie Morley Oliver, September 1963. Survivors include seven sons, Ray, Jess, Fate, and Edward Oliver, all of Hampton; Howard Oliver of Burgie Street, Elizabethton; Roy Oliver of Mountain City, and James T. Oliver of Greenville, S.C.; two daughers, Mrs. Ina Shoun of Route 7, Elizabethton, and Mrs. Myrta Mendenhall of Kingsport; a brother, George Oliver of Route 2, Hampton; 28 grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive. Tetrick Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements. Funeral services for Hooker Oliver will be held 2:30 pm Wednesday from the Union Baptist Church, Officiating will be Rev. Warren Montgomery. Music by the Church Choir. The body will be taken to the home of a son, Ed Oliver, Route 2, Hampton, at 3 pm Tuesday and will be removed to the church at noon Wednesday to await the service hour. ...The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert LeRoy Oliver died on Monday afternoon at Butler Memorial Clinic.
Survivors include the parents, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Oliver of Mountain City; three brothers, Junior, Ralph and Carl E., all of the home; three sisters, Joyce, Tishia and Anne, all of the home; the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hooker Oliver, Hampton; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Barney Lunceford of Mountain City.
Funeral services were conducted from the Lewis Gentry Funeral Home Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.

Samuel Thomas Oliver, 67, of Hampton, passed away Monday, March 21, 2016, with his family and friends by his side at the Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Samuel Joseph and Mary Isabell Goode Oliver.
Sam was retired. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and playing his guitar. He was of the Baptist Faith.
He was preceded in death by his good buddy, Johnny Vines.
Survivors include his children, Brandy (Greg) Trivett, Butler, Samantha Meyer, Jonesborough, and D.J. (Whitney) Oliver, Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Kaleigh, Hannah, Shaelynn, Dylan and Samson; his brother, Jim Oliver, Johnson City; two sisters, Mary Greene, Gray, and Shirley Hughes, Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews, including his "knot head" niece, Kristal Andrews, and her three special boys; his special friends, David Montgomery, Cody Montgomery and Jim Thorpe; and all his adopted kids.
Funeral services for Samuel Thomas Oliver will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor David Montgomery and Pastor Cody Montgomery officiating. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 25, in the Lakeview Cemetery, Butler. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Friday, will be Greg Andrews, Greg Trivett, Jason Oliver, Jim Oliver, Rick Mullins, Landon Mullins, Jonathan Lyons, James Johnson and Matthew Hardin. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Thorpe, David Carden and John Potter.

HAMPTON - Jerry Wayne "Ollie" Oliver, age 66, of Hampton, went to his heavenly home surrounded by his family on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Jerry was born in Carter County to the late Edward H. and Para Potter Oliver. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Johnnie H. Oliver; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Clyde and Hazel Fuller.

Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was a brick and block mason by trade and attended Hampton Christian Church. Jerry loved playing guitar, working on his old cars in his garage, and spending time with his friends. He left his imprint throughout the region with the homes he built and the businesses he built and operated.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife of 34 years, Kathy Fuller Oliver, of the home; two son, David Oliver and wife Michelle, of Gray, TN and Charles Oliver and wife Deidra, of Erwin; a brother, Bill Oliver and wife Kathy, of Hampton; a sister, Wanda Marlow and husband Buck, also of Hampton; seven grandchildren, Sophie, Malorie, Riley, Keara, Kaleace, Charlie Beth and Jace; one brother-in-law, Jeff Fuller; three sisters-in-law, Stephanie Rowe and husband Chris, Carolyn Fuller, and Jennifer Treadway and husband Wes; and a special friend, Betsy Rainbolt. Several nieces, nephews, special cousins and special friends, also survive.

A service to honor and celebrate the life of Jerry Wayne "Ollie" Oliver will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Dwayne Calhoun and Rev. Ronnie Campbell, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Tuesday.

The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Larry Marlow, Kale Ward, Kevin Ward, Mike Hawkins, Randall Vines, Ray Campbell, Richard Arnett and Jeff Fuller. Honorary pallbearers will be Lou Honeycutt, Larry Talley, John Henson, Bill "Bull" Campbell, Donnie Carden, Dean Burchette, Jerry White, Jimmy Matherly, David Caldwell, Terry Vines, Wes Treadway, Chris Rowe and Johnnie Julian. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home at 10:15 AM on Wednesday, to go in procession.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff of Johnson City Medical Center – ICU Unit and the 6200 floor, the nurse from Coram and John Embury. Also, a very special thank you for all the thoughts and prayers that were said for the family.

Jackie "Jack" Thomas Oliver, 72, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, from his residence. Jack was born in Carter County to the late Howard and Beatrice Smith Oliver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Mark Oliver and Jackie Oliver, and a sister, Billy June Roark.

Jack was a strong, independent and hardworking man, who was also stubborn but always willing to help others and was always there for his family. He had worked at North American Rayon and also as a mechanic at Fred's BP Station. Jack was a member of East Side Free Will Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching movies, westerns and football.

Those left to cherish his wonderful memories include his loving and devoted wife of 19 years, Brenda Coleman Oliver, of the home; three sons, Anthony Oliver, Lawrence Oliver and wife Lisa, and Russell Oliver, all of Elizabethton; a brother, Rick Oliver of Elizabethton; two sisters, Shelby Calhoun and husband Dale, and Beatrice Snider and husband Dave, all of Elizabethton; four grandsons, Austin Boyd, Russ Boyd, Josh Oliver and Ronnie Carr, all of Elizabethton; and one granddaughter, Aleignia Oliver of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephew also survive.

A service to celebrate the life of Jackie "Jack" Thomas Oliver will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 1, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor David Finney and Pastor Greg Ruston officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 1 until 2 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service. The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
