    Annis "Bea" Forbes, 97, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with Lord on Thursday, November 15, 2018, from her residence. Bea was born in the Elk Mills Community of Butler, Tenn., a daughter of James Lloyd Cable and Rita Dove Grindstaff Cable. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Forbes; a daughter, Thelma Frazier; one brother; and three sisters.
    Bea was a homemaker and was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter and sister. She was a member of Dungan's Chapel Baptist Church and loved working in her garden of vegetables and flowers. Bea also enjoyed playing Scrabble and was known to "play a mean game."
    Those left to cherish her memory include one daughter, Dean Forbes, of the home; a special nephew, Jason White, of Unicoi; and several nieces and nephews.
    A graveside service to honor the life of Annis "Bea" Forbes will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 17, at Forbes Cemetery in Elizabethton with Rev. Ray Colbaugh and Rev. Roger Hayley officiating.

    Annis “Bea” Forbes, age 97, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with Lord on Thursday, November 15, 2018 from her residence.     ELIZABETHTON - Mrs. Iona (Lid) Peters, age 94, of Elizabethton, TN passed away Friday, December 16, 2016 in the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital. A native of Johnson County, TN she was the daughter of the late James and Rita Grindstaff Cable. Mrs. Peters was a homemaker and she also worked at Peters Grill for many years. She was a member of Union Hill Freewill Church and loved to garden in her flowers.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Brooks Clyde Peters; sisters, Anna Mae Cable and Vertie Marie "Sis" Peters and a brother, Clifford Cable. Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Loretta P. Colbaugh and her husband Rev. Ray Colbaugh and Lora Turbyfill and husband Wayne, all of Elizabethton; four grandchildren, Kevin Colbaugh, David Turbyfill, Shirlene Turbyfill and Kayla Henson; two great-grandchildren, Rev. Nicholas Colbaugh and Logan Turbyfill and a sister, Annis Forbes, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

    A service to honor the life of Mrs. Iona (Lid) Peters will be conducted at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, December 18, 2016 in the Fireside Room of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Nicholas Colbaugh officiating. Mr. Kevin Colbaugh will give the eulogy. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 PM – 2:30 P.M. on Sunday prior to the funeral service or at the residence of any family member at other times. Interment will follow the funeral service in the Grindstaff Cemetery with Rev. Roger Hayley officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

    Iona married Brooks Clyde Peters on 3 Jul 1942 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. Brooks (son of William M. Peters and Rosa L.     Notes:

    Mrs. Vertie Marie Peters, 88, 274 Grindstaff Hollow Road, Elizabethton, passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at her residence following a brief illness.

    She was the daughter of the late James and Reta Grindstaff Cable. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sanford Peters, on May 19, 2006; one brother, Clifford Cable; one sister, Anna Mae Cable; one granddaughter, Carol Ann Harding Dean; and one niece, Thelma Forbes Frazier.

    Mrs. Peters loved to quilt, working in her flowers, and was an avid reader.

    Survivors include two sons, Lloyd Peters and wife, Ruth, NC, Dallas Peters, of the home; two daughters and a son in law, Charlotte Harding and husband, Bobby, and Marketta Peters, both of Elizabethton; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters, Annis "Bea" Forbes and Iona "Lid" Peters, both of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

    The graveside service for Mrs. Peters will be conducted at 2:30 PM on Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Grindstaff Cemetery, Elizabethton, with Rev. Ray Colbaugh officiating.

    The family will receive friends from 1:00 -2:00 PM Saturday at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, and at the residence at anytime. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Ted Puckett. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Craig Campbell, Dennis Peters, Ricky Harding, Billy Harding, Shane Taylor, Ted Puckett and Kirk Dean. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Turbyfill, David Turbyfill, Bob Hooks, Bobby Harding and Tony Luther.

    Vertie married Sanford L. Peters about 1942 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. Sanford (son of James B. Peters and Kathryn "Nannie" Shoun) was born on 26 Feb 1921 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; died on 19 May 2006 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Grindstaff Cemetery, , Carter County, Tennessee.     ELIZABETHTON - Elma “Dean” Forbes, age 77, of Elizabethton, Tennessee passed away peacefully on Friday, June 24, 2022 at Hermitage Health Care of Elizabethton. Dean was born in Carter County, Tennessee on January 21, 1945 to the late John Robert Forbes and Annis Dove (Bea) Cable Forbes. In addition to her parents, Dean was also preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Forbes Frazier.

    Dean was a graduate of Unaka High School and spent her career doing bookkeeping and other office work at Click Construction and Middleton Management. She was a member of Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church and enjoyed watching UT Football, genealogy, crocheting and gardening.

    A graveside service to honor and celebrate the life of Elma Dean Forbes will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 18, 2022 in the Forbes Cemetery (Peters Hollow Road) with Pastor Kenny Lethcoe officiating.

    ELIZABETHTON - Loretta Peters Colbaugh, age 76, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at her residence. Loretta was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee to the late Brooks Clyde Peters and Iona Lee Cable Peters.

    Loretta was an active pastor's wife of 49 years, her most precious moments were the birth of her son, her grandson and being a loving and devoted pastor's wife. She had worked at Great Lakes Research as an executive assistant and retired from the Social Security Administration. Loretta was a member of New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Unaka High School and enjoyed being a homemaker, cooking, working in her flowers and bird watching. Most of all she loved cooking lunches for her family on Sundays and loved assisting with her church activities.

    Those left to cherish her wonderful memory include her husband of 55 years, Ray Colbaugh, of the home; her son, Kevin Brooks Colbaugh; her grandson, Rev. Nicholas Colbaugh and wife Lynae; a sister, Sue Turbyfill and husband Wayne; her nieces, Shirlene Turbyfill and Kayla Turbyfill; a step granddaughter, Kalyee Carrier; a step grandson, Tyler Carrier and wife Renya; and a nephew, David Turbyfill.

    A service to celebrate the life of Loretta Peters Colbaugh will be conducted at 8:00 PM on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church in Elizabethton with Rev. Nicholas Colbaugh (grandson) and her son, Kevin Colbaugh, officiating. Music will be under the direction of New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church Quartet. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the church, prior to the service on Sunday.

    The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 4, 2019 in the Blevins Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be the deacons of New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church.
