    ELIZABETHTON — Ira "Glenn" Bowers, age 90, 908 Nave Street, Elizabethton, devoted wife, loving mother, caring grandmother and friend has entered into a new city, and a new life, with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. While saddened to see her go and longing for her to stay, there were other eyes watching her coming and other voices to take up the glad shout: Here she comes! Mrs. Bowers died Thursday, January 8, at Hermitage Health Center following an extended illness.

    A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Brown L. and Bessie M. Bowers. She was a member of Roan Street Free Will Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Crumley Bowers; two brothers, Robert Carl Bowers, Millard Filmore Bowers; one sister, Laura Belle Bowers; one step-son, Linard Skyler Bowers; one step-daughter, Ella Mae Buckles.

    Survivors include one sister, Gladys Cole, Roan Mountain; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Pauline Taylor, Elizabethton, Pansy and Bobby Rouse, Elizabethton, Oma Jean and Bobbie Woods, Elizabethton; one step-daughter, Mary Nidiffer, Elizabethton; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews also survive.

    The funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2004, at Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Rev. Ray Stocton, Rev. Steve Burleson and Rev. Rick Price officiating. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 11, at Caldwell Springs Cemetery with Rev. Stephen Tolley and Rev. Mark Potter officiating. Active pallbearers will be Eddie Peters, Guy Sams, Ricky Williams, Dale Roberson, Stephen Tolley and Mark Potter. Honorary pallbearers will be Odell Bowers, Bobby Woods Jr., friends and her church family. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hermitage Health Center for their loving and gentle care of mother for the last seven years. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home chapel at 1:15 p.m. Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery.

    Notes:

    On Sunday, March 5, 2017, a golden heart stopped beating when Mrs. Pauline Taylor, 83, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord. Mrs. Taylor was a daughter of the late Roby and Ira Glenn Bowers Danner and was born in Carter County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron "Chig" Taylor, two step sisters, Mag Nidiffer and Ella Buckles and a step-brother, Skyler Bowers.

    Mrs. Taylor was retired from Southeastern Apparel and was a member of Moore's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. She loved to shop with her family, dine out, and especially enjoyed the holidays.

    Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Barbara Sams, and her husband, Guy, Elizabethton; Judy Peters, Morganton, NC; Patty Glover, Elizabethton, two sisters, Oma Jean Woods, Pansy Rouse, both of Elizabethton; grandchildren, Tracie Stout, Kim Browning, Pepper Dyer, Ginger Glover, Ashley Garland; great-grandchildren, Tiffany Townson, Jonathan Townson, Justin Browning, Austin Dyer, Jessica Browning, and a special great-granddaughter, Haley Glover, whom she raised and loved very much. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

    A service to honor the life of Mrs. Taylor will be conducted on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 12:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Steve Burleson and Rev. Bill Greer officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 11:00 AM– Noon on Wednesday prior to the service, or at the home of her daughter, Barbara Sams at other times.

    The Committal and Entombment will follow the funeral service in the Mausoleum of Faith, Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Daniel Garland, Heath Browning, Justin Browning, David Dyer, Austin Dyer, Larry Absher, Aaron Potter and Mark Burke.

    Pauline married Aaron Floyd Taylor about 1961 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. Aaron (son of Jess T. Taylor and Maggie K. Cress) was born on 27 Aug 1935 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; died on 12 Aug 2004 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Treadway Cemetery, , Carter County, Tennessee.
