    He was a retired farmer and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.
    Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sylvia Michaels; two sons, Fred of Mountain City and Cad of Ferndale, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs. Emmett Parsons of Mountain City; three brothers, John and Robert of Trade, Dewey of Elizabethton; three sisters, Mrs. Eula Bryant of Shouns, Mrs. Lillie Trivette of West Jefferson, N. C.; and Mrs. Alma Mundy of Hickory, N.C.; 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held at the New Hope Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Blaine Eggers, H. T. Mabry and Gerald Carlton officiating.
    Burial was in Donnelly Cemetery.
    Gentry Funeral Home in charge.

    He is survived by his widow, Mrs. John H. Michael; five daughters, Mrs. Irene Wagner, Mountain City, Mrs. Ralph Sluder of Baltimore, Md., Mrs. Ella Tester, Charlotte, N.C., Mrs. Tom Copple, Arlington, Ind. and Mrs. Lou Gibson of Macon, Ga.; two sons, Clifford Michael, Newport, Ky., and Wilson Michael, West Grove, Pa.; 25 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held at friendship Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 12 with Rev. Greer and Rev. Tucker officiating.

    Robert Vernon Michael age 67 of Trade, died in Cannon Memorial Hospital, Banner Elk, N.C., Friday at 5 a.m. after a short illness. A native of Watauga County, N.C. he had made his home in Johnson County for the past 15 years. He was the son of the late William and Kisa South Michael; a farmer and member of the Evergreen Baptist Church.
    Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Pearl Michael, Trade; three sons, William Michael, West Grove, Pa., Arlie Michael, Yorklyn, Del., and Robert Michael Jr., Spray, Ore.; five daughters: Mrs. Ernest Rash of Trade, Mrs. Kermit Cornett and Mrs. Guavin Norris both of Kennett Square, Pa., Mrs. William Garr of Toughkenamon, Pa. and Mrs. George Shank, Christana, Pa.; three sisters, Mrs. Alma Mundy, Hickory, N.C., Mrs. Sam Bryant, Shouns and Mrs. Lillie Trivett, West Jefferson, N.C.; 26 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services were conducted from Lewis Gentry Funeral Home chapel Tuesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Pete Vannoy and Rev. Arnt Greer officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park in Mountain City.
    Pallbearers were Russell Garland, Roger Love, Martin Reece, James Wilson, Gill Mains and Fred Thomas. Flowerbearers[sic] included friends and neighbors.
    Lewis Gentry Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

    Ruth Trivett - EAST RIDGE
    EAST RIDGE — Mrs. Ruth Trivett, 94, of East Ridge, departed this life to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 13, 2006.

    She was a long time member of Piney Flats Presbyterian Church in Piney Flats, Tennessee, where she played the piano for over 30 years. She attended McFarland United Methodist Church, Rossville, Georgia, for the last 12 years. She loved music, the outdoors, watching sporting events and being with her family.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, William Earl Trivett Sr.; and her parents, Arthur and Vesta Shell; and a brother, Thurman Shell.

    Survivors include her children, Joyce (Roy) Brookshire, Chattanooga, Bill (Ann) Trivett, Nashville; grandchildren, Debbie (Kenny) Parsons, Mike (Temple) Brookshire, and Danny (Rhonda) Brookshire, all of Chattanooga, Shelley (Clay) Dye, Wilmington, NC, Paige Trivett, Washington, DC, Chase Trivett, Nashville; sister, Mary Emma Martin, Piney Flats, TN; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; several nieces & nephews.

    Services will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Saturday at Piney Flats Presbyterian Church, Piney Flats, TN, with Dr. Robert Rainwater and Rev. Gary Grogg officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. Saturday at the church prior to the service. Interment will be in Shell Cemetery, Piney Flats, with grandsons Michael Brookshire, Danny Brookshire, Chase Trivett, and nephews Don King, Carroll Shell, Larry Torbett, John Trivett and Rick Trivett serving as pallbearers.

    The family wishes to extend a special “Thank You” to Phyllis Rice for her excellent and loving care for the past 2 years that allowed Ruth to live at her home until her death.

    Robert Bernard "Benny" Michael, age 66, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 24, 2018, from his residence where he was surrounded by his family and friends. He was born in Boone, NC on January 21, 1952, to Robert Vernon Michael and Maxine Michelle Price. He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents.

    Robert loved to tinker around with things and was always working on his projects. He loved to read and be outdoors while spending time with his family. He was a textile mechanic at Burlington for 20 years, until the plant shutdown, forcing him to relocate to Paxar in Lenoir where he worked for 21 years.

    Those left to cherish Robert's memory are his loving wife of 46 years, Althea Price Michael; two sons, Robert Andrew Michael and wife Jennifer and Eric Jason Michael and wife Michelle; his mother Maxine Price, sisters Hazel Michael Holloway one brother, Mike Michael; and husband John and Cathy Michael, Joy Michael Bohannon and husband Brendan; two grandsons, Kal-El Jaden Michael and Robert Andrew Michael Jr., three step-granddaughters, Ashtyn McKinsi Henson, Emily Kay Collier, and Olymbia Georgia Collier, as well as several nieces and nephews.

    Ann McElyea, age 80, of Mountain City ,Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at her home following an extended illness. She was born in Johnson County, Tennessee on July 2, 1936 to the late Sam Bryant and Beulah Michaels Bryant. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her husband Lewis McElyea; grandson, Wibb McElyea; sisters: Marie McElyea, Sue Main, Betty Jennings, Elizabeth Crutchfield, Mae Eldreth and brothers: Earl Bryant, Willard Bryant, Carl Bryant and Burl Bryant.

    Ann retired from Levi Strauss. She loved to cook for her family and neighbors before her declining health. She loved her family and enjoyed having them around and will be truly missed by all.

    Ann was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

    Those left to cherish her memories include her four daughters: Donna Talley and husband Lee, Debbie McElyea, Teresa Roark and husband Bob and Michelle Nave and husband Alan; son, Gary McElyea and wife Crystal Winters; grandchildren: Dustin McElyea, Nikki McElyea, Chris Roark and Jordan Arney; step grandchildren: Brandon Nave, Bud Swift, Shawna Blevins; great grandchildren: Bryson Ward and Braylon Ward; sisters-in-law: Joyce Bryant and Betty Bryant; special friends: Angie Johnson and Janet Towry; Ann was Nanny to a special little girl, Lexie Faircloth; several cousins, nieces and nephews;.

    Graveside service for Ann will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2017 at the Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum with Pastors Eddie Porter and Roy Dowell officiating. Pallbearers will be Gary McElyea, Bob Roark, Dustin McElyea, Chris Roark, Jordan Arney, Billy Caldwell and Billy Heck. Honorary pallbearers are Lee Talley, Alan Nave, Matt Story, Steve Story, Lester Faircloth, David Campbell, Kenny Mains, Danny McElyea and Bud Swift.

    Ann married Milton Lewis McElyea about 1954 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee. Milton (son of Milborn Mckinley McElyea and Maggie Tester) was born on 2 Aug 1930 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; died on 21 Aug 2010 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Sunset Memorial Park, , Johnson County, Tennessee.
