    REECE RITES TUESDAY P.M.
    John E. Reece, 57, of Graysville, Tenn., brother of Congressman B. Carroll Reece and Lem L. Reece, died Sunday morning at 11:45 at Mountain Home hospital in Johnson City following an illness of several months.
    Funeral services and interment will be at Sugar Grove Baptist Church near Butler, Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 with the Rev. James Sherwood officiating. The funeral procession will leave Appalachian Funeral Home in Johnson City at 1:00 p.m.
    Mr. Reece, a Spanish American War veteran, was for many years in the merchantile[sic] business at Butler, and for the past few years had been connected with the Inspection Bureau of the Federal Alcohol Tax unit.
    He is survived by his widow, Minnie Doughtery Reece; his mother, Mrs. Sallie E. Reece of Johnson City; the following brothers and sisters, J. L. Reece, W. L. Reece, W. J. Reece, B. Carroll Reece, Lem L. Reece, Mrs. Anna R. Thompson, Millard B. Reece, Mrs. H. B. Cupp and Raleigh Reece.
    Active pallbearers, who will assemble at the Sugar Grove church at 2:45 p.m., will be Jack Anderson, Scott Burton, Allen Courtner, Dr. G. Hughes, Ray Shoun, Alfred M. Stout, M. F. Summerlin and Arthur Wagner.

    W.J. (Jake) Reece, 87, Rt. 8 Johnson City, died Wednesday night in Jonesboro Nursing Home following an extended illness.
    A native of Johnson County and son of the late Isaac and Sarah Maples Reece, he had lived in Johnson City for the past 10 years. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Sugar Grove Baptist Church.
    Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ellen I. Reece; one daughter, Mrs. Bobby Curry, Rt. 8; one sister, Mrs. Robert Thompson, Lafayette, Ind.; five brothers, Wilson L. and Millard, Chattanooga, Joseph I., Pickens, S.C., Osa C., Clearwater, Fla., and Lem L., Jonesboro; a number of nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services were conducted Friday at 2:30 p.m., from the Sugar Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Cohen Arms officiating. Burial was in the Dugger Cemetery.
    Pall-bearers[sic] were James Potter, Lionel Potter, Lowell Isaacs, Raymond Isaacs, Shafter Stout and France Holloway.
    Flower-bearers[sic] were ladies of the church and friends.

    Walter married Ellen Eliza Isaacs on 22 Sep 1906 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee. Ellen (daughter of Thomas Isaacs and Amanda Caroline Dugger) was born on 21 Feb 1885 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; died on 13 Nov 1974 in Washington County, , , Tennessee. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    RALEIGH V. REECE
    Funeral services for Raleigh V. Reece, brother of Congressman B. Carroll Reece, chairman of the Republican National Committee, who died last Friday night in the Veterans' Administration Hospital, were held at the home of a sister, Mrs. H. P. Cupp, on the government reservation Monday.
    Mr. Reece was textile manager of American Bembery Corporation in Elizabethton before entering the armed services in 1942. He was a graduate of Carson-Newman College, a former teacher and newspaperman.
    Mr. Reece succeeded John T. Scoopes of the famous evolution test trial in the school system at Dayton in 1925. He served in the Army Air Corps and was discharged with the rank of lieutenant colonel.
