    MOUNTAIN CITY – Mrs. Lois Marie Horne Cress, age 66, of 158 J. Cress Road, Mountain City, TN went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Christ Jesus on Sunday, April 19, 2009, in the Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness.

    She was the daughter of Elizabeth Norris Horne and the late Burnis Horne. Mrs. Cress was a seamstress for thirty-five years at Levi Strauss and her hobbies included gardening, sewing and canning. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Jewel Cress.

    Survivors, in addition to her mother, include: her husband, Joe Mack Cress, of the home; one son: Nathaniel Steven Cress of Lowell, NC; one sister: Alice Roberts and husband Gary of Mountain City, TN; one brother: Joe Horne and wife Carol of Mountain City, TN; two nephews: Timothy Horne of Mountain City, TN and Gary Horne of Strawberry Plains, TN; five wonderful sisters-in-law: Carol Horne, Margaret Cress, Ann Cress, Charlotte Cress, all of Mountain City, TN and Dorothy Cress of Midlothian, VA.

    Funeral services for Lois Marie Horne Cress will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2009, from Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Steven Spencer, Mr. Michael Icenhour, and Mr. Haskel Ingram officiating. Music will be by Calvary Baptist Church Choir.

    Graveside service and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009, from Browns Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: Timothy Horne, Gary Horne, Jim Cress, John Cress, Sam Cress and Dennis Lewis. Honorary pallbearers will be Men's Sunday School Class and Deacons of Calvary Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
