    JOHNSON CITY - Mrs. Grace Archer Muse, age 95, Johnson City, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Johnson City Medical Center.

    Mrs. Muse was born January 2, 1924 in Washington County and the daughter of the late Elmer Eugene & Rose Keefauver Archer. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Joseph Charles "Chuck" Muse, Jr., two precious sons, Joseph Charles "Jody" Muse, III and James Archer Muse, brothers, Phil, Kenneth, Warren, Fred and Paul Archer.

    Grace graduated from Science Hill High School in 1942 and moved to Mountain City in 1946. She was an active member of Mountain City Church of Christ for almost 50 years and moved to Johnson City in 1996 and became a member of Central Church of Christ.

    Grace was a caring and devoted resident of Johnson County for over 50 years. Her life's dream was fulfilled when she married Joseph Charles Muse, Jr. and had five wonderful children. Raising her children and serving the Lord faithfully was her joy. As a committed Christian, she showed the love of Christ to all she met with her kind and generous good works. She was tireless in serving others, visiting, sending cards, providing meals and always happy to host friends, new-comers and strangers. She was often the first person to call on a family at a time of adversity offering her condolences and bearing gifts of food. One of her greatest attributes was the time she spent visiting the elderly, shut-ins and sick. She would brighten their day with her sweet smile, baked goods and kindness. She was truly a woman of noble character as described in Proverbs 31.

    Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret & Jack Briscoe, Memphis, TN, Luanne & Danny Hoilman, Johnson City, and Julie Muse, Johnson City; grandchildren, Nikki Hoilman, Grace Briscoe McKinney (Craig), Sage Briscoe Magid (Aaron), Allan Muse (Holly), Lindsey Muse Gastright (Andrew), Paul Hoilman, and Scott Hoilman; great-grandchildren, Mason Casey, Callie Grace Muse, Adar Muse Magid, and Westin James Gastright; a daughter-in-law, Judy Muse Sanders (Mike); sister-in-law, Charlotte Archer; and several nephews and nieces.

    The family would like to extend a very special thank you to her loving caregivers Sandra Noble, Jean Hughes, and Linda Collins. Also thank you to 2600 ICU Nurses at JCMC, Randy, Andrew, Jessica and Dina.

    Funeral services will be conducted 11:30 am Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Central Church of Christ with Mr. Tim Hall officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00-11:30 am Saturday prior to the service. Interment services will follow at 3:30 pm Mountain View Cemetery, Mountain City, TN.

    Pallbearers will be family & friends.

    JOHNSON CITY - Mary Evelyn Keefauver McCall, 92, Johnson City, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at NHC of Johnson City, following a period of declining health.
    Born in Washington County on January 10, 1929, to the late Bryan and Anna Ruth Cox Keefauver, Evelyn grew up in Boones Creek and resided in Johnson City for most of her life. She will be remembered as a loving and devote wife, mother, mamaw, great grandmother and friend. She was a talented homemaker who enjoyed hosting Sunday evening dinners and holiday dinners for her family. Evelyn worked in retail for over 50 years. Early on in her career, she worked in Dossers, and would travel to Atlanta and Charlotte to buy for their china and giftware department. Evelyn then moved to the mall where she worked for Proffits, Parks Belk and Belk. She loved helping her customers find the right outfit.
    She was a member of Boones Creek Christian Church and attended Clark Street Baptist Church. In past years, Evelyn enjoyed local travel trips with the Young at Heart Clark Street Seniors.
    In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by: her husband of over 50 years, Billy J. McCall; sister, Madeline Overbay; brother-in-law, Don Overbay; and nephew, Leon Overbay.
    Survivors include: her son, Ed McCall and his wife Mary Ann, of Kingsport; grandchildren, Melissa McCall and her husband Josh Jessee and Lilly McCall; great granddaughter, Addison Jessee; and two very special friends, Juanita Chandler and Sarah Greer.
    The family would like to thank the staff at NHC Johnson City Station 1, as well as Caris Hospice, for their compassionate care.
    A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Monte Vista Memorial Park with Chaplain Nate Varnier officiating.

    JOHNSON CITY - Mary Ann Keefauver Martin, 89, Johnson City, died Monday, January 27, 2020, at Grace Living Personal Care Home, Marietta, GA, following a brief illness.

    Mary Ann was born in Jonesborough, and was a lifelong Washington County resident. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Beulah Saylor Keefauver.

    Mary Ann retired in 1986 as Assistant Vice-President from First American National Bank following thirty-eight years of service, and following retirement worked at First Tennessee Bank until 2000.

    She was a member of Boones Creek Christian Church and the Mary Keefauver Sunday School Class.

    In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Eugene Martin, in 2007, and her brother, Harold Keefauver.

    She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Jean Martin Collins and husband Timothy, Kennesaw, GA; her granddaughter, Kelsi Austin Collins, Kennesaw; her great-granddaughter, Kameron Hadley Collins, Kennesaw; two nieces, Peggy Proffitt and Freda Keefauver; two nephews, Johnny Keefauver and Randy Keefauver.

    The funeral service will be conducted Friday, January 31, 2020, at 1:00 P.M., from the sanctuary of Boones Creek Christian Church, with David Clark and Dick Morris, Ministers, officiating.

    Interment will follow in Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

    JONESBOROUGH - Mrs. Rita June Ingram, Jonesborough, passed away Friday, January 18, 2019 at Lakebridge Healthcare Center.

    Mrs. Ingram was born in Johnson City, daughter of the late Billy Joe and Lucille (Harshbarger) Keefauver. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Jim Ingram; daughter, Dawn Nicole Hill; and twin sister, Jane Tolley.

    Mrs. Ingram was a member of First Christian Church, Johnson City and had been active in the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Red Hat Club, and the Monday Club (GFWC). She had vigorously raised funds for the Ronald McDonald House at the Johnson City Medical Center.

    Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Shirley McCracken; three nieces, Lisa Feathers, Robyn Jones, and Candice Gorman; brother-in-law, Edwin Tolley; nephew, Chris Tolley; son-in-law, Steve Hill; many friends, including Pat Brown, Mike and Jami Luzadder, Suzanne Williams, Jean Rowlette, and Mary Barton.

    Funeral services for Mrs. Ingram will be held 1:00 PM, Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Minister Donald Mushayamunda and Minister Mike Luzadder officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 PM prior to the service.

    Graveside services will follow the funeral at Monte Vista Memorial Park.

    ERWIN – Zita Jane Keefauver Tolley has taken the right hand of her Lord and gone home with her Saviour. Jane was born June 8, 1943, with her identical twin sister, Rita June Ingram. She died, Sunday, September 6, 2009 at 12:30 PM after an extensive stay in the hospital. Jane was 66 years old.

    She was the daughter of Lucille Keefauver, of Jonesborough, and the late Billy Joe Keefauver.

    Jane was a member of Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church, where she had served as an assistant Sunday school teacher and was a former member of the choir. She had served as treasurer, secretary and president of the Erwin Business and Professional Women's Club. She was secretary of the Unicoi County United Way for 14 years. While in the United Way, she served as the executive chairman of the Unicoi County Relief Fund.

    Jane was a certified Red Cross Advanced First Aid instructor and had taught several classes. She was a member of the John Sevier Chapter of the D.A.R., and was past president of the Erwin Get Acquainted Club. Jane served in the Mother's March of Dimes and was a past consumer consultant of the Tennessee Superior Home Health Advisory Board.

    She had served on the Washington County Foster Child Care review board and was a past president of the Martin Chapel P.T.A. and a Cub Scout mother. Jane was a past member of the Erwin Band Boosters, and was the past president of the Erwin Circle Left Square Dance Club.

    She owned her own business: "Jane's Bear Necessities Gift Shop," at the Sheraton/ Holiday Inn Hotel in Johnson City for 20 years. She was a charter member of the friends of the library in Erwin and was a charter member of the board of directors for 5 years and was president-elect.

    Jane was very active in the TFWC/GFWC, where she had been a member for over 40 years.

    On the local club level, she had served as Chairman of Arts, Chairman of Conservation, Chairman of International Affairs, Chairman of Public Affairs, Membership Chairman, Program Chairman, 3rd Vice President, 2nd Vice President, 1st Vice President, President and Parliamentarian. On the District Level, she served as: 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Parliamentarian (2 terms), Home Life Chairman, Public Relations/Communication Chairman, President, where under her term, she helped lead District 1 to 1st place in the state, and she also served as Chaplain for 2 years.

    On the GF/TFWC State Level, she held the positions of: International Affairs Chairman, Trade and Aid Chairman, Arts & Crafts Division Chairman, Music & Dance Chairman, Very Special Arts Chairman, Arts Department Chairman, Leadership Chairman, Chaplain and Resolutions Chairman. Jane was also a member of the England Society, where she was chosen as the Outstanding Woman for the TFWC and was chosen for the Tribute of Honor.

    Other than her father, she was preceded in death by her grandparents: Robert & Fannie Keefauver; and grandmother, Mattie Harshbarger.

    She is survived by her mother, Lucille Keefauver, Jonesborough; her husband of 47 years, Edwin W. Tolley, Erwin; her son, Joseph Christopher Tolley (Chris), of Erwin; sister & brother-in-law, Shirley and Bob McCracken, Rogersville, twin sister and brother-in-law, June and Jim Ingram, of Jonesborough; sister-in-law and husband, Janice & D.C. Byrd, of Erwin; nieces: Lisa Hill, Robyn Jones, Candice Elmore, Dawn Hill, Pam Bailey and Sandy Byrd; 3 great nieces and 3 great nephews; 1 great-great niece, and 1 great-great nephew.

    A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2009, at 8:00 PM in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services with Rev. Harold Blankenship, Rev. Larry Tolley and Rev. Steve Hill officiating.

    The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 PM until the service hour.

    Interment will be held on Friday, September 11, 2009, at 10:00 AM in Evergreen Cemetery, Erwin, TN. Friends and family are asked to assemble at the cemetery by 9:50 AM. Honorary Pallbearers are Bob McCracken, D.C. Byrd, Steve Hill, Jim Ingram, Tommy Jones and Mike Bailey.

    John was an avid golfer and loved talking with people; he'd never met a stranger. He leaves behind many family, friends, and loved ones.

    A celebration of Johnny's life will be conducted on Sunday, May 19th at The Barn at Boone Falls Reserve beginning at 6:30 pm.

    Julie Rose Muse, beloved sister, aunt and friend passed away from this life on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at her residence after several years of declining health.

    She was born to J.C. Muse Jr. and Grace Archer Muse April 14, 1958, in Mountain City, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Jody and Archer Muse.

    After graduating from Johnson County High School in 1976, where she excelled on the inaugural tennis team, she began work at Kingsport Dental Lab. Julie worked for her uncles, Kenneth and Fred Archer, learning the industry from them. She took pride in providing high quality dental prosthetics for many regional dentists. After many years of working, she became the sole owner of Kingsport Dental Lab.

    Julie enjoyed watching a variety of sports on TV, especially tennis and the Lady Vols. Julie had a heart of gold and was extremely generous to her family, friends and employees throughout her life. She was especially proud of her nieces and nephews and was always urging them on to success. Julie loved her family and friends fiercely and enjoyed her time with them.

    She is survived by sisters, Margaret Briscoe (Jack) of Memphis and Luanne Hoilman (Danny) of Johnson City; sister in law, Judy (Mike) of Kingsport; nieces: Grace McKinney (Craig) of Los Angeles, Sage Magid (Aaron) of Elkridge, Lindsey Gastright (Andrew) of St. Petersburg; nephews: Allan Muse (Evee) of Kingsport, Paul Hoilman (Emma) of Johnson City, Scott Hoilman of Johnson City; great nieces: Rainie and Lizzie Hunter, Callie Muse, Adar Briscoe-Magid, Kathryn Hoilman (her “precious”); great nephews: Bruce Hunter and Westin Gastright.

    Julie helped and touched many people with her thoughtfulness and will be missed tremendously!

    Graveside services will be conducted at 1:30 PM, Sunday, October 23, 2022, at Mountain View Cemetery, Mountain City, Tennessee, with Minister Tim Hall officiating.
