    LEMIEL L. PLEASANT
    Lemiel L. Pleasant, 69, died at his home, 114 H street, early this morning.
    Funeral services will be held at the Calvary Baptist church Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, with the Rev. B. R. Lincoln, the Rev. John Bowery, the Rev. Paul Roberts officiating. Interment will be in the Rambo Cemetery at Doeville.
    Mr. Pleasant is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nannie Pleasant; four daughters, Mrs. F. Hawkins of Laurel Bloomery, Mrs. Elsie Hopson of Elizabethton, Miss Flossie Pleasant and Miss Etaila Pleasant of Elizabethton; three sons, Hobert, Robert, Hansel of Elizabethton; two brothers, Will Pleasant of Phoenix, Arizona, J. R. Pleasant of New Bank, Ky.; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Lee of Mountain City, Mrs. Eliza Gentry of Laurel Bloomery.
    Pallbearers will be J. Frank Seiler, Brown Fritts; W. C. Guffey, Will Jones, C. W. Bailey, Clyde Nichols, J. D. Roberts, W. L. Hogin, W. L. Smith.

    Lavelle Hopson Gourley Fair, 90, of Blaine, Tenn., formerly of Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2018, at RidgeView Terrace of Life Care, Rutledge, Tenn.
    A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Walter E. and Elsie Pleasant Hopson.
    Lavelle was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and attended Carson-Newman College. She was a homemaker.
    Lavelle was a member and former organist at East River Park Christian Church. She attended Buffalo Springs Baptist Church in Blaine, Tenn.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Rev. Lewis Gourley, a Baptist minister, who passed away August 6, 1987; her second husband, Grady Fair, who passed away September 1, 2016; and a brother, Eugene Hopson.
    Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Karen Gourley and Richard and Cathy Gourley, all of Rutledge, Tenn., six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
    Graveside services for Lavelle Hopson Gourley Fair will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 6, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. John H. Smith, minister, officiating. Interment will follow the service. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

    A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Hansel & Patsy Pleasant. She was raised by her aunt, Miss Flossie Pleasant.

    She was a 1959 graduate of Elizabethton High School. Linda was a Licensed Practical Nurse for 40 years. She was employed at the Carter County Memorial Hospital, the nursing department of NARC and retired from Life Care Center of Elizabethton. She was of the Baptist Faith. Linda was a homemaker, she loved working in her flowers, yard work and crafts. She was preceded in death by her husband Billy Cole who passed away January 19, 2020 and by a brother: Master Sgt. US Air Force, James Ronnie Pleasant who passed away in December 2006.

    Survivors include her children: Shelby Cole (Doug) Rasnick, Barbara (Scott) Curtis and Christy Simerly (Rick Barker). One Granddaughter; Hannah Simerly (Caleb) Marshall.

    Graveside Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2021 in the Caldwell Springs Cemetery with Dr. Kenneth Jordan and her son-in-law, Doug Rasnick officiating. Burial will follow the service. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Thursday will be: Doug Rasnick, Rick Barker, Caleb Marshall, Josh Rasnick, Eli Rasnick and Scott Curtis.

    Robert Michael (Mike) Pleasant, 69, of Telford, passed away October 12, 2022, at his home. Mike was born in Sullivan County and his family moved to Rockford, IL when he was about two years old. He returned to the Tri-Cities area in his early twenties. Mike was a member of the Army Reserves. He worked for Tri-City Towel & Linen before becoming a farmer in 1987, in Washington County. Mike was a caring person and always ready to help someone in need. He enjoyed working on antique cars, working on the farm, watching NASCAR races, and traveling, especially out west.

    Mike was preceded in death by his parents, James Hancel and Edith Estep Pleasant; brother, Rick Pleasant; sister, Lesia Pleasant; aunt, Helen Carpenter; and special cousin, Teresa Carpenter.

    Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Betty Pleasant; brothers-in-law Ralph Horne of Greeneville and Fred (Jane) Horne, of Kingsport; sisters-in-law Neta (Steve) Vance, Margie Larkins, both of Kingsport, Stacey Overbay, of Lake Junaluska, NC; cousins, Cindy Carpenter of Kingsport, Jeff & Robin Carpenter of Fall Branch; and several nieces and nephews.

    Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at Emory United Methodist Church Cemetery.
